Twenty-Eight

When Leigh awoke, she was in a soft warm bed. She got confused for a minute, thinking she was still at home, in Banff, and her mother would yell up the stairs any minute now, and this whole adventure would have all just been a dream. She forced her eyes open. The room she was in was small and dusty. The curtains were drawn partially over the small window, though there didn't seem to be any point to that. The window was coated in so much grime, the room was immediately dimmed. Her face felt tight and hot.

"Leigh?" Whispered a small voice.

She turned her head, looking straight into Skylar's blue-purple eyes.

"Sky!" She mumbled.

"I thought you might die." Her tone was shaky. Leigh laughed.

"That would suck. I didn't go through all that just to die." She responded, giving her sister a once over.
