Chapter 10

Jake's Pov

Today Mamma woke me up in the morning telling me to accompany Jenitta di and others. But I was so tired and I told her to tell Jerom bhai or Donny bhai to accompany them, Luke and Ed were having their swimming class so they wont be available, but she told me that they were busy with other preparations and they don't have time for taking them to the designer studio. So half- heartedly I woke up from my bed. I got ready and went to dinning room to have my breakfast. Then me, Anu, Jenitta di and Jessica di bid bye to mom. Jessica di told me that we have to pick Shruti from her house and that made me happy. I mean I sacrificed my sleep so at least I am getting a reward right so who wont be happy. So we drove to her home, by the time we reached her home she was having her breakfast. Mamma told us to have breakfast but we told her that we had our breakfast already. Mamma and di were engrossed in their conversation that they did not see Shruti trying to escape from finishing the breakfast, so I caught her red handed and told her," Shruti, only after completing your breakfast we are going to go, so sit down and complete your food." She was having annoying face but yeah she sat and completed her breakfast after receiving a glare from me. After bidding bye to Mamma we started our journey with me in the driving seat, Shruti in the passenger seat and dis and Anu in the back seat.

When we reached the designer studio, Jessica di told me that I was not allowed to see Shruti's costume so I told them that I will be waiting in the car till they return. So I decided to take a quick nap till they arrive. After like one and a half hour or something they arrived and seeing my tiredness Shruti told me that she would drive the car, but I just declined her offer. So we drove to the salon as it was the next destination. As every salon has a waiting room I told them that they could find me at the waiting room when they are done with their necessities. After a long time Shruti came to me and told that she would go to the stitching center to get our mother's blouse and to call her when everyone is done with their hair and so on.. I just told her not to go alone and went to Jessica di and informed them to call me when they finish their business. I told di that I would be accompanying Shruti. We went to the stitching center and then we went to buy her heels and some other things. Whole time she was not talking with me, I tried to speak with her but she kept on replying in single words, its soo unusual of her to be silent. I decided not to drag her to open up with me, I decided to give her some space so I kept quiet. After picking up others from the salon Anu told that she was hungry so we decided to grab our lunch from some restaurant. After having our lunch I dropped Shruti and her friends and went back to home.

As Shruti was not talking with me, I told Anu to inform her that we had reached home. Then I went to take a nap after informing Mummy to not to disturb me as I am very tired. At 6 pm I got up and went down to the hall and so Pappa sitting on the sofa and having a chat with Daddy. I went and greeted him. Then after a while he told me that he wanted to talk with me privately. So we both decided to take a walk. As we were walking Pappa told me about Shruti, how caring and loving she is, he told me about her childhood, about her studies, about her likes, about her fears, and about how she loves everyone. After talking a lot about her Pappa told." Jake, when I told her about registering her name in the matrimonial site, she didn't decline, she told me that I could do anything as she trusts me. I selected you as her life partner. I don't want to break her trust and also I trust you with my daughter. I have never made her to cry, apart from those situations in which she goes down in her studies. So I believe that you will also keep her happy always. She have started to trust and like you, I can see that from her eyes, please don't break her trust. She haven't briefed her past with me but when she told me about how she loved someone, I could see the pain in her eyes. I don't know whether she have told you about it, but please promise me that you will heal her with your love. I know that my daughter is not a saint, she will definitely make mistakes, but please forgive her and correct her. Promise me that you will never leave her alone. Promise me that you will take care of her."

To be frank I never thought that Pappa would come to me to request me to take care of his daughter. I saw the love for her in his eyes. I told Pappa, "Pappa, Shruti had told me that she had loved someone in the past, as I don't care about her past, I told her that I don't care about it as I too had a past relation. Pappa I promise you that I will always take care of her. We may fight and argue, but I wont leave her. I'll try my best to keep her happy. I will always be there for her. I promise you." Pappa was happy and he hugged me. He also told me not to tell her about our conversation. After having some conversation with my parents Pappa went home. As I was busy I didn't check my phone. After having dinner I went to my bed room and decided to call Shruti and to ask her why she was so silent today. When I took my phone to call her I saw three missed calls from her and also messages telling me to take rest, I felt bad for not attending her calls and also for not messaging her. So I called her but to my bad luck, her phone was switched off. I felt tensed, Shruti would never switch off her phone, so I decided to call Alayna her friend, I called her and asked." Alayna can you give the phone to Shruti, her phone is switched off. " and she told me," Actually Shruti is sleeping. She told that she was feeling tired and went and slept without having her dinner. Aunty insisted her to have dinner, but she declined it. She was looking at her phone all the time. I would like to know whether you both had a fight, I mean you both didn't talk while we were at the restaurant I saw her being upset when Anu called her and informed her about your whereabouts. When I asked her why she was upset she declined it telling that she was just feeling tired with these shopping." I understood why Shruti was sad. I told Alayna." No Alayna, we didn't have a fight, I was busy this evening so I couldn't call her and by the time I called her, her phone was switched off that is why I called you, anyway leave it. Let she sleep. Good night". Alayna told, "If you say so, anyway good night." And then I ended the call.

I felt sad for not calling her, but she was also at fault, because it was she who was not talking to me. But hearing that she did not have her dinner made me feel guilty. So I decided to message her. "Shruti I am soo sorry. Actually when you was not speaking with me, I thought of giving you some space, that is why I told Anu to give you a call when we reached home. Afterwards I took a nap and so I didn't see your message and calls. I am sooo sorry...." I messaged her and I hope that this message will bring a smile on her face in the morning. Messaging her a good night I decided to call it a day as tomorrow is a very big day for me and Shruti.
