New Girl

Valentina's P.O.V

I looked down at the map trying to find my gym class. It was the first day of school and I was actually pretty excited. I am now a 16 year old Junior, and every time I move it feels like a fresh start. But this is going to be the last move until college...my dad promised.

i tried to look up now to make sure I wouldn't run into anybody, which wasn't hard since this school was really big and I loved that.

I've seen a few people like me, lost and confused. But there were lots of people who already knew somebody and were chatting instead of going to class.

the bell rang which sucked cause I was officially lost.

"Let me guess, new person?" A girls voice said from behind me. I turned around and saw a girl who looked about my age with red bright hair and obvious brown contact lenses. She was shorter than me which is pretty short since I'm 5 foot 3.

I gave a weird smile and nodded. She took my schedule out of my hand and I looked at it. "The gym is just straight the hall." She said as she pointed.

I turned toward where she was pointing and turned around to thank her but she was gone down the hall.... along with my schedule. Damn, I thought, I didn't have an extra one. I walked fast down the hall as the second bell rang. I opened the door to the gym, meeting the eyes of tons of people. How did everyone get here on time, I couldn't be the only new person. I wondered.

I held my head down and sat on the bleachers. There was a woman in front taking attendance and saying the usual boring first-day stuff. I dozed off and tried to think about what my next class was.

Eventually the woman, who I learned was the gym teacher told everyone to go change. I gasped silently realizing I forgot to bring my gym clothes.

I watched everyone get up and go to the changing rooms. I sat there a little awkward and then decided to ask someone for at least tennis shoes and shorts or something.

I walked slowly into the locker room, seeing girls already changing and talking. I felt out of place, here I was about to ask someone I didn't know on the first day of school if they had extra clothes I could borrow.

I noticed one girl who was pulling the shirt over her head. Her six pack caught my attention and I couldn't help but stare at her body.

I'm straight but I do like to appreciate great bodies when I see them.

Her shirt came down, and her eyes hooked on to mine. I looked onto the floor silently praying she doesn't think I'm weird already. I looked back up and she was still starring at me with green playful eyes.

"See something you like cupcake?" she says holding a smile.

I felt my cheeks heating and I thought of a quick response. "I was just looking for someone with extra clothes for the gym, I forgot mine at home." I darted my eyes at her and the other people in the locker room. Lucky no one noticed my discomfort right now.

The girl went to her locker and grabbed something out and handed it to me. I looked down seeing black sweatpants and a black tee.

I looked at her to thank her but stopped when I saw her face. She had a huge smirk on her face and looked like she wanted to laugh.

I took a deep breath and gave a sarcastic grin. "Thanks," I grabbed the clothes and didn't see her reaction as I held my head down in embarrassment and went into the corner to change quickly.

I could her eyes on me the entire time.

How embarrassing, I thought. A lot of girls have already left the locker room.

I finished changing my clothes and made a mental note that I would have to return these clothes...regretfully. They were really comfortable and smelled of cologne, but I did not want to talk to the girl who called me cupcake again. That nickname just made me cringe.

The only good thing that came out of gym class was the fact that I didn't throw up with all the laps we had to do. Turns out the gym teacher didn't have anything planned out, so we had to run or walk laps around a footballs field.

I did meet a few people, but I didn't do much talking. I didn't see the girl the whole gym class for some reason.

Within five minutes of class ending, my new friends and I went to the locker room to get changed before the next class. I took off the borrowed clothes and changed back into my regular clothes. They still surprisingly smelled like cologne.

I looked around for her and I didn't see her at all. I saw one of the people I made friends with and decided to ask her. Her name was Macy, I think, she was a sweet brown haired person with braces.

"Hey Macy, have you seen a girl with green eyes, longs brown hair? She's a little taller than me?"

Her face scrunched up a little, and she had an unreadable expression. She looked a little weird. "Do you mean Blake?" she asked softly.

"I don't know her name but she let me borrow some gym clothes," I held it up for her to see. "What's wrong?"

Her eyes darted to the clothes and back at me. "I think I should give you a little bit of advice," she started saying. "Since you're new and all; Blake is not someone you would wanna associate yourself with here she's____"

"She's what?" a voice interrupted. The girl from earlier- Blake interrupted. She had her hands in her pockets and looked pretty intimidating. I noticed a few tattoos on her arm. She had on a pair of sweatpants and a grey sweatshirt on. Her long brown hair was pilled into a ponytail.

Macy took a step back and crossed her arms. "You don't scare me," she said stumbling, clearly lying. Blake took another step, and Macy stepped back again.

"You are nothing but a bad influence Blake, I am just warning Valentina that maybe she wants to start off a new year with friends who are....."

"Stuck up and irrelevant like you?" Blake interrupted. She narrowed her eyes at Macy, who took another step back, failing hard to look tough.

I did not know what was going on but this was not something I wanted to get into, so I put the clothes down on a bench and tried to walk away.

Blake's arm reached out to block me from leaving. I didn't want any trouble so i just stayed. This is the last thing I need right now, I thought. Its only the first class and I'm already ready to go home.

Thankfully the gym teacher walked in during the staredom between Blake and Mercy. "You girls need to get to class, the bell already rung."

Macy rushed past Blake and out of the locker room. The gym teacher looked at me. "Do you know where to go young lady?"

I shook my head. "i have English class with Mr..... Coleman? I sort of lost my schedule already."

I heard a chuckle from Blake. i ignored her feeling slightly annoyed.

"I have his class next too, I could show you where its at?" Blake suggested

"O....kay," I said, uncertain, she had a small smirk on her face like she was up to something.

"Make sure you two go straight there, no skipping at all. Understand?" The gym teacher said sternly.

She was talking to both of us but she was only looking at Blake.

What is that Blake all about? She didn't seem so bad so far, except for the bad annoying nickname and all the smirking.

"Of course Miss Heckman," Blake smiled and took the clothes that she lent me. She turned around walking away.

"Let's go cupcake! English class waits for no one!"

The gym teacher already walked away, and i rushed to keep up with Blake.

I didn't have a good feeling this.
