The Party

Valentina's POV

I turned around in the mirror a few times. I had on a light pink romper which I paired with two brown sandals. It was simple but very cute.

My hair was out and curly. I put on some eyeliner and added a wing. Today was Blake's party. I felt pretty nervous, but it wasn't all because of Blake.

This was going to be my first high school party.

Blake had a huge house, and I wasn't sure how the party was gonna go. I made a great group of friends, but nothing huge.

"Valentina! Are you ready to go?" My dad called.

He was driving me to the party. Being a junior without a license was getting old fast, and it was only the second month of school.

I planned to get my license soon maybe next week. My dad said he would even buy me a car.

I grabbed a small purse to bring with me and went to meet my dad.

------------------------------------

My dad dropped me off in the front. He said I could stay as long as I wanted to... as long as I'm back by 11:00 pm.

I stood in front of Blake's huge house admiring it. Cars were lined up in the road, music was loud and actually sounded good. There were people everywhere talking. I felt like a fish out of water. I started to walk forward past all the people in the driveway. I was really hoping I could find someone I knew.

I opened the front door to see... two people. Hu?

The front of the house was packed, but inside was basically empty.

"Hey you made it!" A voice said from behind me.

I turned around and saw Blake with two cups in her hands. She had on plain jeans with a Gucci sweatshirt and tennis shoes that looked very expensive.

Her brown her was brushed and straightened with a black headband pulling it back.

in summary, she looked good.

I smiled, "Happy birthday Blake."

She reached her hand towards me. "Want a drink? And thanks."

I looked down at the cup. No way in hell am I drinking something unfamiliar.

Blake must have noticed my discomfort. "Its fruit punch."

I took the cup, I still wasn't going to drink it, but I didn't wanna seem rude.

Blake gave a chuckle. "There's no alcohol at this party. Just fruit punch, root beers and sodas."

This time I gave her the yeah right look. But I still didn't say anything.

"I'm serious, I'm serious my mom died because of a drunk driver. So no one in my family drinks."

It was silence for about two minutes. I wanted to say I sorry about that, but I felt like that would be one of the worse things you could say to someone. Just makes things more awkward.

"You wanna go up to my room?" She asked suddenly.

"Why?" I asked quickly. My mind started to race, were we going to have another makeout session?

"I could show you some of the cool things I got for my birthday already." Blake responded. It was obvious she was lying, her party was just starting.

But I was kind of glad that I could spend more time with her. Just a little bit.

I followed her into her room. "How come there's barely anyone in your house?"

"My dad and I both don't like having too many people in the house. They break things, and its nice to still have a little privacy." Blake answered.

That makes sense I thought. I didn't wanna ask too many questions, but I had one more.

"Where is your dad?"

"I think upstairs still asleep or maybe out at his shop or something." Blake shrugged. "He doesn't supervise if that's what your asking. Besides, its not like I am going to get pregnant or something." Blake finished with a smile.

Her green eyes brightened as she looked at me. She sat on top of her bed while i stood in front of her, two feet away feeling a little self conscious.

"Wanna sit?" Blake asked. She patted beside her.

I felt a buzz in my purse as I sat down next to her. Pulling out my phone, I got a text message from Brian.

It said "Hey you wanna grab something to eat?"

I looked at my phone for a second, feeling weird that I was at this party without him. But then again, Blake and him hated each other. I still wasn't 100 percent sure why. Seems like there was plenty of things I was missing.

I texted back ,"I'm a little busy , maybe we can meet up some time later."

I didn't know why but I felt like I shouldn't tell him where I was.

Blake caught my attention as she looked over my shoulder at my phone. I quickly put my phone in my purse.

"Who was that?" Blake asked curiously starring at me.

"Uh,' I was going to make up something up, since its her birthday, and I didn't wanna put her in a bad mood.

"Its Brian," I confessed, hoping this wouldn't change anything. She nodded slowly.

I watched her hair move from side to side as she looked around.

"I don't see any presents from you cupcake. Makes me feel a little sad," Blake joked. The smirk on her face told me that she didn't really mean it, but I felt bad for not bringing one.

She saw the worry look on my face and giggled, "I'm just fucking with you, cupcake."

I cringed at the horrid nickname she gave me, "stop calling me that."

I felt another buzz coming from my purse. As I took my phone out and checked it was Brian who responded; "Its my birthday, I call you what I want today."

I ignored her and checked my phone.

It was another text message from Brian; "Your at Blake's party, aren't you?"

My hands felt stiff on my phone. I felt like I could see his face and would read disgust. I get that he was trying to look out for me, but at the same time I am a big girl, and I can handle myself.

Besides Blake didn't seem to bad, so something seemed way off. A lot of people at school liked her.. It just seemed Brian, Macy and a couple of people with problems. Including some of the teachers that don't like Blake. Which is understandable, considering we have only been in school, for less than two months and Blake has only shown up for about a month and few days.

I responded with a quick yes and stared at my phone. After two minutes of him or responding, I figured he was prolly a little pissed.

If there is one thing I would love to avoid is drama. But I don't think that was gonna happen.

"Do I get a little present? Like a kiss or something?" Blake interrupted my thoughts. "Or are you still in denial?" Her face was really close to mine as she raised her eyebrows and smiled, waiting for my answer.

I ran my hands down my face and rolled my eyes. "I'm not in denial. One experience with a cute girl doesn't automatically make you lesbian. But even if I was bisexual, so what? I don't have a problem with that."

Without thinking I leaned in and put a kiss on her cheek. "There." I stated.

Now maybe she could stop complaining, I didn't wanna automatically be labelled as bisexual, but honestly, I never asked to be labelled straight.

Blake leaned closer to me , "Soooooo" She dragged on, her eyes lit up mischievously.

"You think I'm cute?" She tilted her head to the side and blinked her eyes dramatically. i got of her bed, ignoring her I started to walk out of her room.

i didn't want her seeing the blush creeping on my cheeks, and i didn't mean to slip the cute word out, but now its out there.

"Happy birthday Blake," I called making my way out of the door.

i was ready to eat something.

----------------------------------

Blake's party was all sorts of crazy, she had a huge pool that people were in, some barbeque, lots of cupcakes, cake, pizza and other junk food that would make you loose your teeth.

i had a blast being there and i was one of the last people to go. My dad came to pick me up around 1 am, because he's awesome. Which reminded me, that i need to get my drivers test immediately.

When i got home i checked my phone. I went on social media sites and then decided to watch some YouTube videos.

i then realized something....

Brian never texted back.

My phone buzz, pulling me out of my thoughts, i smiled thinking it was Brian.

"Thanks for the kiss cupcake, best birthday present ever."

i squinted my eyes looking at the phone. i never gave her my phone number, but if she could figure out where i lived, then I'm sure its not that hard to figure out my number.

i held back a smile as i typed a response. "Don't expect it to happen again. It was only for your 17th birthday."

she responded with a smiley face, and we texted back and forth for a little bit.

After 20minutes, i was too tired to even stand, we said our goodnights and i plugged my phone into the charger with another thought popping into my head.

Brian still didn't text back.
