Chapter Two: Hundred: Nine: Temporary Distraction

Recap:

A baby girl whose eyes glowed a perfect shade of gold and black. She kept placing her hands in her mouth as she spoke to herself. She was unbothered by being left alone and it was intriguing to see how despite her being obviously hungry… she was able to keep herself from crying without fussing.

When her eyes met mine, she smiled and gave me a squeal. This made her heart slightly pinch at that reaction and I felt a tear escape from my eye. The tear fell onto her cheek and slightly glistened. I was quick to reach out and wipe it but in the process she grabbed my own finger and held it tightly.

Seemingly not wanting to let go of it, Aria saw no other option but to grab the baby. She was so light and delicate in my arms. I was afraid that one wrong move would lead to her getting hurt and I wasn't sure how I felt about that. Aria balanced the baby in her arms and moved back till she sat on the bed was balanced on it.
