Chapter 5 - Once upon a dream
The view scrolls from the top of the tower's glass window up to the middle part of it.
Harukima woke up suddenly. It was just a dream, the event about that time when the Alice in wonderland chapter repeated itself. Her memory became hazy as she recalled it. It happened in the first but the second version made it shorter. She thought for sure that the first event happened but the hazy memory keeps on presenting the second shorter version.
She examined the surroundings and she is now hanging by a rope. The rope is connected to the belt she wears. She was supposed to clean and wipe off the stains of the glass window. The window reflected her headgear and glasses protecting her sensitive eyes, the katana is still hanging by her belt she could feel it. She couldn't see the inside of the black window.
Never minding the lights flashing in another building, she continued on cleaning the glass window.. Wiping whatever may come at the window. The individual windows are as taller than her and the building she's cleaning is no joke. It's one of those skyscrapers you see in the movies. About 70+ floors, she didn't count it, since the narrator can't see the bottom floor. Flashing lights on the other building can be seen by her, a luminance that blinds a person's eyesight. But the lights cannot be seen by ordinary citizens. It's the normal eyes that prevent the citizens from seeing supernatural events.
Harukima had eyes she doesn't want to show to anyone. That's why she always wear her headgear and glasses, adding to her eyes being shut tight and it's in the purpose of preventing the existence of her eyes and its abilities. She continued on her cleaning work to ignore spectacle of Christmas lights.
The light slowly dissipates from the other building and a figure appeared near her, she could see it from the glass window she cleans and she ignored his presence. His coat fluttering by the gusts of wind generated below him. He approached Harukima on her back and asked her a question.
"Have you seen this girl?"
He showed a picture of a girl that has a long hair and an outfit in the appearance of a magical girl.
Harukima stared at the floating male, back to the gusts of wind. The wind stabilized his foot as if he is standing on a platform, invisible to the naked eye. But with her eyes, she can clearly see how he was able to float. She put aside the thought and responded, "Oh, you must mean that magical girl from that one show. Are you perhaps looking for the voice actor?"
Illusionists can alter one's vision, making the audience look at things at a different view. But the Illusionist she's conversing can make reality fake. A god of illusions making alterations in a reality, Vanda's ability is not meant for ordinary people but meant for the gods above. He responded. "Um, no." He mumbled, "What is with this world?" as he went away. For sure, Vanda expected a reaction from a civilian like amazement or awe but the civilian just answered plainly. Strange but he moved on and went floating away.
The managers of the realm appear as civilians to them in the other worlds. And they are restricted to act as such when conversing with the characters. Her appearance is that of a woman in her cleaner outfit with a reflector jacket. Her weapon disguised as an emergency rope attached to the top. She silently gazed at the illusionist leaving her sight and continued her cleaning duty.
The illusionist (Vanda) reviewed his quest again.

From the view inside the window, Harukima sprayed on the dark glass window.

Ani Cien breathed on the transparent glass window and wiped it with cloth.
On the Aureus Laboratory, just recently, Paleus Laboratory crumbled and had to transfer all their creatures to their sister laboratory, the Aureus Laboratory.
Ani Cien a scientist of the maintenance department frowned at the paper works piled on the desk. It's the same for the other scientists. Since the paper works are the daily activities and observations of the creatures and written information of their abilities. Even though this isn't the field of work for the maintenance department it should be on the recording department. The higher-ups decided to share the work of the records department. There are a lot of creatures still inside the Entrance Hall with no sign of numbering down.
It hasn't been two days but the overload of work got to the new scientists. The higher-ups haven't even received any news from the surviving scientists of the sister laboratory. Ani handled the paper and encoded it in the database and rechecking is done on another department. After hours of excruciating pain in the fingers of typing the work is done and all that is left is for the department of checkers to do their part.
Ani Cien got out of the room and into the hallway, a scientist asked which way is the cafeteria, she said she'll go there to eat, I know the way so I guided her. The fellow scientist had a creature beside her, his violet and black hue mixed in the clothing's color compliments his demon race. Ani Cien brought out a notepad and looked for a page. His profile page indicated demonification and some of his powers are locked by another scientist in the sister laboratory (Paleus Laboratory). He had the powers of teleportation, shield and healing magic.
His past records had an information of him being able to successfully become a demon and destroying everything in his hometown. The scientist name and identity appeared as blank boxes, as written in the records. The scientist Ani Cien was conversing with is part of the medicine department, responsible for the meds for the creatures as well as creation of new medicine that would help the humanity.
Ani Cien decided to talk first, "What are you going to get for lunch?"
The fellow scientist responded with, "Probably the "normal" meal. But I'll eat later on. I have to make medicine for this fellow here."
"Is he okay? I've seen in his profile that he transformed into a demon back then?"
The two scientists talked and the half-demon creature intervened at times filling out details about his condition. The demon entity is alive inside him and talking to him at times. He was a result of an experiment in mixing bloods of the two races. With the demon blood mostly overtaking his mind and making him go berserk at the facility, the outcome of a failed experiment. It was an event told in the past, old news since 10 years had already passed by. Information on the scientist that limited his powers is confidential and restricted, the higher ups seem to cover up the mess. It might even have a connection to how the Paleus Laboratory collapsed.
She went to the kitchen and borrowed tools for baking. Ani Cien questions these actions done by the fellow scientist. The medicine was difficult to make. But with the help of the previous scientist she was with earlier they finished it in a day. The only process left needed is to mix the medicine with food. She broke the medicine until it is reduced to powder. She then spread the powder on a dough, shaped it into a cookie and heated it up in the oven. With a ding sound, the medicinal cookie is ready. She gave it to him.
The half-demon ate it and his demon aura faded. He thanked the female scientist that made it. "No worries, it's part of work". The scientist turned her attention to the menu. Ani Cien is sitting with her and he got curious of what medicine it was.
"That wouldn't be-" Ani got cut off by the fellow scientist seating in front of him.
"That's only a temporary measure. It will surface again in two months. It's the best that our department can make but I hope it can be improved and have the effects last a year."
"How about making the creature adapt to the demon inside him?"
"His control of magic is close to perfection. While the control power to his demon side is weak. The medicine helps in making the demon side become neutral inside of him, but the moment that medicine is stopped. Let's just hope he gets to enjoy his time here." She picked up the tray with the "normal" meal. Ani Cien examined the thing that appeared before him.
A glitched red screen with hints of crimson hued boxes turned up in front of him, the screen soon disappeared.
