I washed my Chappy face with ice cold water of the hospital bathrooms, and ran to the cafe Jason has texted me about in my wrinkled clothes. He had asked me to be there on time so I did not bother to go to dorm and change them again.
I tried catching my breath for few seconds before entering the cafe. I opened the door and the bell rang signaling my arrival, 'just the usual,' I rolled my eyes.
I surveyed the whole cafe to find Jason, and found him standing on the counter already with a cup of coffee in his hand.
He looked at me when the bell rang and started walking to me.
"Hey," he offered me the cup he had in his hand. "Hi," I answered taking the cup from his hand and sipping the hot coffee.
"Shi*, it's hot!" I screamed when the strong taste of coffee hit me.
Jason smirked and shook his head at me.
He started to walk out of the cafe without saying as much a word now. I watched him quizzically and followed him out where he was already waiting for me sitting at one of the benches facing the small play area.
"So what did you want to tell me?" I asked him now sipping my coffee slowly.
"Nothing much," he responded.
I gave him a sting eye and said in a dead tone, "You woke me up for no reason?"
He slowly lowered his long lashes, and took a sip from his coffee.
"Umm," he thoughtfully nodded his head. I frowned.
"I am going today," he started, I looked at him suspiciously, "for the football match out of the town," he completed.
I finished my cappuccino and placed the empty cup beside me. "You are going?" I raised my brows.
"Yup, so I'm telling you that because I have got to tell you something real important." He said nervously.
I stared at him rubbing his neck embarrassed.
"You can't tell me now?" I tried asking him.
"No," he smirked. "Why?" I tried again.
"Because its something that I have to complete first before telling you." He said grinning.
I gave him a suspicious eye trying to predict what was he trying to say.
"Just a little bit?" I said giving him my puppy eyes.
He shook his head and leaned to my level now, I stared in his eyes not understanding what's going on.
He slowly looked down at my lips and gave me a soft peck. And again sat on his previous spot.
Unable to comprehend his sudden change in attitude, I stared at him.
"Wait for me, okay?" He asked. Even when I did not understand what was he saying. I nodded my head in daze.
"You will be the first person I'll come to visit, so please don't go anywhere and don't let Marie or her wannabees get the better of you?" He asked more like commanded softly.
I looked in his eyes, those were now shimmering with joy, and nodded with a soft smile for him as well.
"Okay, but don't forget your words." I told him in a timid voice.
"I will not," he said taking my cold hands in his big warm ones and rubbing them lovingly.
His phone started to ring after few minutes of us sitting there silently.
He saw his phone screen and picked up the phone letting go of my hands now. I folded them on my lap to keep them warm, when I heard him talking on the phone.
"Yes coach?" He inquired.
"Okay, I'll be there in 5." He said curtly and hung up.
He put the phone in his pocket and turned to me now standing. I followed his suit and stood up myself looking at him to tell me what happened.
"I have to go now, the bus is about to leave in few minutes so I have to be there now." he explained to me.
I nodded my head in understanding.
He slowly came to me and wrapped me in a warm hug again taking me by surprise. I stood there stupidly. But I wrapped my arms around him after few moments.
"Why are you suddenly being like this?" I mumbled against his chest.
"What?" He asked amused.
"like you care about me or maybe like, like--" I trailed off.
He pulled back a little bit and stared in my eyes again, "I do care about you Alice," he said in confirmation now.
Unable to pull my eyes away from his hypnotizing grey ones I kept on staring at him.
He again slowly leaned in and placed a small peck on my nose now, wide eyed I pulled back from him at which he chuckled huskily.
"Don't forget to root for me," he stated.
"What's there for me?" I asked smirking myself now.
"You will see when I come back," he said in a promising tone.
His phone started to ring again, probably his coach.
"Shi**" he cursed in a low tone and turned to me with a grin on his face.
"I gotta go now," he stated moving away.
"Okay, bye", I said after him as he turned where his car was parked.
I saw his car driving away. I sighed at sudden change in my situation.
I started making my way to the hospital again to see mom. But saw a juice bar around the corner so I decided to pick some juice for mom and something else to eat for myself.
I paid the cashier my bill and grabbed mom's favorite apple juice with some chocolate cookies for her to eat.
I was just around the corner of the hospital when I heard my phone ringing.
'God who is it now!' I mused.
I saw the screen flashing 'Idiot Boxer'
I picked up the phone and pressed it on my ear with my empty hand.
"What's up?" Damon's cheerful voice greeted me.
I looked up, and tried playing along him and answered uncertainly "umm, Sky?"
"Oh my Goodness, Miss. Vardian has sense of humor now." He declared in a proud filled voice.
"I taught you well," he said now faking a crying tone.
I rolled my eyes at this, but soon realized one thing "Miss. Vardian?"
"Yeah!" He answered curtly.
"What is this now?" I asked moving to the hospital again.
"Your name in my contacts, I told ya, I'll change it."
"But Miss. Vardian, why?" I asked him confuse.
"Yeah you are going to Harvard soon. Are not you ? So you are practically going to be a Vardian." He responded.
I stopped dead in track now. Not remembering I told him about the acceptance letter.
"But I didn't tell you about this." I frowned.
"I saw it when you came late that day, it was in your bag, somehow I got to see a few words on it." he told me.
"Oh, okay." I said now standing at the hospital door.
"I'll call you later, I gotta go now." I told him entering hospital.
"K, bye" he said and I hung up walking in the hallway.
