Saved By The Beep

The sound of birds chirping jolted me awake as my eyes flew open with a startle. I glanced around me, blinking my eyelids fervently as it felt a little heavy and tired.

My clothes reeked of coffee and felt uncomfortable to wear leading to me taking it off and placing it beside me. I then tried to stand up, my legs losing balance instantaneously as they had fallen asleep in a weird posture after the face-off with 'father'.

I caught hold of myself, leaning against the wall for support as I thought back on what I had said. I sighed to myself, massaging my temple as I had lost my sense of decorum and even ended up lashing out despite being old enough to be in the same demographic cohort as him.

Not to mention… There were much better words I could have used in the argument. I really feel like I was just a kid standing up to an adult last evening.
