Blueth Mendoza's POV
"Uhh... Ms. Val?" I said as I slowly backed away from the Mistake which was standing in front of me. I had to look up to see its eyes. It doesn't have a head, but its eyes were located on its chest. Two big eyes and one even bigger mouth. Its body composition is like that of an upside-down triangle, with little legs and feet on the bottom but a huge torso with long big arms and hands. Wait a minute, what am I doing describing what it looks like!? I should run!
"Ah, you found the Mistake, good job kiddo." Ms. Val said as she walked up beside me with a smile on her face. "Now we know what size it really is, and you said that it isn't that big."
The Mistake let out a big roar as it slammed the ground in front of us.
"W-what do we do now?" I stuttered as I looked at Ms. Val.
"What else would we do? We'll catch it of course."
"With what?"
"With that vial you're holding."
I looked at Ms. Val as my mind started processing what she said about using the vial to catch the Mistake. I looked at my hand where the vial was, and I started thinking how can something so huge fit in a small vial!
"Catch it? You expect us to catch that thing!? That thing is huge! And how will it be able to fit at this small vial!?"
"I don't know what you're talking about kid, last time I checked, that vial can fit Mistakes the size of a 10-story building."
"10-story what?"
The Mistake let out a big roar as it lifted a big chunk of ground and raised it above its head."
"Well, that's our cue."
"Our c—Woah!" Ms. Val grabbed my arm and pulled me with her as she started running.
"Be mindful kiddo, when you see a monster or someone lifting something above their heads, chances are they'll throw that at you. And that mistake is no exception."
As Ms. Val kept running with her hand holding my arm tightly, the Mistake threw the piece of ground it picked up.
"Look out!" I yelled as I pulled Ms. Val, it was a close call, she would've been crushed if I hadn't pulled her. The debris the Mistake threw crashed just a few inches from where Ms. Val was standing.
"Huh, ironic how I was the one who said to be mindful, and yet I nearly got crushed by dirt." Ms. Val said as she stood in front of the debris, looking down at it.
"Uhh, Ms. Val? I think we have some important things to do other than look at thrown debris."
"Huh? Oh right, the Mistake."
The Mistake kept roaring and started running towards us, using its arms to support its huge body as it ran towards us.
"Okay, what's the plan." I said as I looked at the Mistake, slowly backing away.
"Don't worry kid, I know what to do in these types of situations."
Ms. Val suddenly grabbed my arm and started running away from the Mistake. "What are you doing!?" I yelled as I followed Ms. Val, not like I have any other choice other than following Ms. Val, she has a very good grip on my arm, so escaping her grip is not an option.
"What do you think we're doing!? We're running of course!"
"Why are we running!? I thought that we'll capture that thing!"
"Look who's talking! You were the one complaining about how that thing won't fit into the vial, and now you want to capture it!?"
"Well, how else are we going to finish proofreading if we won't capture it!"
Ms. Val suddenly opened the door of one of the houses and threw me inside, she then followed as she closed the door behind her.
"What are we do---" Ms. Val suddenly covered my mouth with her hand as she looked outside the window. I didn't try getting Ms. Val's hand off from covering my mouth because I saw a huge shadow pass through the window. I don't know if it was fear or what which came to me, but as the shadow was passing through, I stood very still, not breathing.
Minutes passed and Ms. Val let out a sigh as she took off her hand from covering my mouth. "It's gone."
I looked at Ms. Val and she has this calm expression on her face. I let out a sigh of relief as I took the vial out from my pocket and looked at Ms. Val. "So, what's the plan?"
"Don't have one."
My jaw dropped as I heard Ms. Val. "Say what now?"
"Honestly kiddo, I have no plan because it's my first time encountering a Mistake that size."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, I faced Smidgets, which are the smallest size of Mistakes, and I faced normal-sized Mistakes. Those are the only size of Mistakes I faced, I haven't faced one that big."
"So, you're saying is that you don't have a plan?"
Ms. Val let out a sigh as she scratched the back of her head. "Kid, I haven't made a plan in my entire life actually. I find plans boring. When you make plans, you know what to do, it spoils you what will happen next. Plus, it's a lot of work, you make them then something comes up and it's ruined. So, I just like to make things up as I go."
"And you're not scared about not knowing what outcome you'll get?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, since you have no plan, you are not sure how it'll end for you."
"Hey, I know how it'll end for me. It'll end with me having fun of welcoming the unknown. It ends with me welcoming the danger and thrill of life."
I smiled as I heard what Ms. Val's saying. Something about what she said hit me. She's a girl who's already living outside of her safe zone. I want to be like her, I want to escape my own comfort zone, I want to live life to the fullest, like hers.
"You know kid? Now that I think about it, there is one plan that I follow."
"Huh?" I looked at Ms. Val who was standing in front of the door.
"The plan is to have fun in my life. But there are limitations though, but the plan is to have fun."
