Blueth Mendoza's POV
"Blueth! Run!" Rachelle screamed as she threw a chair towards the Scavenger which appeared behind her. It was the same Scavenger we encountered the first day we met.
I grabbed Rachelle's arm and started dragging her as I started running away from the Scavenger. Other Scavengers filled the room but me and Rachelle managed to dodge and run around all of them.
"Keep running!" Rachelle screamed as I kept running as fast as I can.
I managed to get outside but when I turned around, I can't see Rachelle. But she was just right behind me, she couldn't get caught, right? I should go ask Ms. Val to help.
I was about to run towards the house and get Ms. Val to help but I stopped myself. "No, Blueth! Stop being so dependent on people! You need to face your problems on your own!"
I took deep breathes and I started walking towards the house, making my way past the Scavengers which were patrolling inside the house. I'm coming for you, Rachelle!
I opened every door inside the house with caution, trying my best not to let the Scavengers know I went inside the house. I tried my best not to alarm Scavengers, but I didn't try hard enough.
"Looking for your friend?"
I jumped as heard a voice come from behind me. I quickly turned around and I saw a big Scavenger standing behind me.
"Where's my friend!? What did you do to her!? Let her go!" That didn't sound right, it didn't sound as cool as those people who say it in movies.
"Oh, you'll see her soon enough." The Scavenger then started walking towards me with its hand reached out, ready to grab me.
"Tell me where she is! Or else you'll regret it!"
"Oh? And what can you do?"
"This." I took a few steps back and I started running towards the Scavenger. I then jumped towards him with my feet first, it was a flying kick.
Surprisingly, that didn't work one bit. He dodged my kick and grabbed my leg, throwing me to a wall.
"How amusing." He then grabbed my leg and started dragging me along the floor.
"Let me go!" I yelled as I tried to free my legs from his grip. It was no use, his grip was tight.
"Enjoy your remaining hours with your friend."
The Scavenger said as he opened a door. Once the door was opened, he threw me inside and there I saw Rachelle, sitting in the corner of the room.
"Rachelle!" I said as I ran up to her and hugged her.
"Huh? Blueth!? What are you doing back here!? I thought I told you to run!"
"You did!"
"Then what are you doing here!?"
"Well, I kind of wanted to rescue you and stuff, but I got caught and now I get to spend my remaining hours with you." I said as I smiled at her.
Rachelle let out a sigh as she leaned against the wall, hugging her legs.
"Hey, I'm sorry about earlier. I didn't know that you have no parents." I said as I sat next to her. Rachelle gave a small smile as she kept looking at the floor.
"It's okay, it's not your fault. You didn't know."
"Can I ask about them? If it's okay with you. If you don't mind, I mean."
"Ask away."
"How did they die?"
"They didn't."
"Then, how come you said you have no parents? It's impossible that you have no one to give birth to you, that's just impossible. Right?"
Rachelle let out a giggle as she looked at me.
"Well, my parents didn't die. They left me when I was around 5 years old. I came home from school that day and they weren't there. Their clothes, their stuff, everything was gone. I searched our house to see if they were playing tricks with me, but they weren't there. I then started running everywhere, crying, trying to find them, but nothing. I never found them."
I sat quietly as I listened to Rachelle.
"I grew up without my parents, well, not entirely without them. When I was at the age of 5 that's when I started growing up without them. I don't even know how I survived this long." Rachelle looked down as she hugged her legs tighter. She's obviously trying to hold back her tears. "I'm not mad at them though, I just let them."
Rachelle gave a small smile as she kept looking at the ground. I didn't say anything because I don't know what to do in these types of situations. I just sat quietly and listened to her.
I don't know what to say as silence filled the room. I looked at Rachelle and she was still hugging her legs, looking at the ground.
I moved closer to her and placed my head on her shoulder. She looked at me with confusion on her face. "What are you doing?" She asked as she kept looking at me.
"I don't know what to do so I'll just sit around and make sure that you don't feel lonely."
Rachelle giggled as she placed her head on top of mine. Oh no, here comes the blushing.
"Huh? Blueth? Are you okay? Your head feels hot."
"What? I'm fine! I don't feel hot, you're hot! I mean you must be the one who's hot because as far as I know, I'm feeling okay!" I said as I quickly stood up. Rachelle looked at me with confusion on her face. "Anyway, we need to find a way out of here." I said as I look around for something which can help us get out.
"It's okay Blueth, you find a way out for yourself. You can just leave me here. You have a family to come home to, I don't. I'll just stay here."
I looked at Rachelle as she started lying on the ground.
"Hey, I'm not going to leave you behind, you got that? I'll stay by your side! Come on, where's that brave Rachelle I once knew? Who are you!? What have you done with Rachelle!? Aaaaarrrgh!" I said as I gently started shaking her.
She let out a little giggle as she pushed away her bangs. "Thank you."
