Chapter Thirty Six

Blueth Mendoza's POV

"Alright kids, the two of you head to your school while I lock up here, I'll catch up with the both of you at school or something." Ms. Val said as she took out the keys from her scarf. That scarf of hers fits almost anything. Is that where she keeps most of her stuff?

"Okay, Ms. Val. You better not arrive late!"

"Relax Blueth, I'm just going to lock up and double-check everything. I won't run away and leave the two of you or anything. If I did and something bad happened to the both of you, that'll be all on me. I'm just double-checking everything, I don't want people coming here and stealing our stuff."

I smiled at Ms. Val as I said goodbye. Rachelle and I then started walking towards our school.

"So, are you excited?" I asked Rachelle as we were walking side by side. Rachelle smiled at me.

"I actually am excited. This will be the very first time that I attend the family event at school. I'm scared but excited."

"You don't have to be scared. You've got us!"

Rachelle giggled as she looked at me. "Yeah, you're right."

"Look at us! We're like sisters!"

"Sisters? I like the sound of that."

"See? Yay!" Way to go Blueth. You just dug a hole. You just sibling zoned yourself.

As we were walking towards the school, we noticed a family on the other side of the road, talking and laughing. I immediately looked over at Rachelle and she has this frown on her face. I gently bumped her shoulder with my shoulder to get her attention.

"Are you okay?"

"Y-yeah, just... Something came up... And..." She stops and lets out a sigh. "No... I'm not okay..."

"Do you want to talk about it?"

"Well, I don't know why but, every time I see kids with their families, having fun, I get sad. I don't know why but, I feel sad. I want to feel something like that. Having fun, telling jokes, laughing, spending some time with a family."

"Well, you don't need to be sad now. We'll be your family if you want. I'll tell Ms. Val that you'll move in with us. We'll do those family bonding that you never got to have. We'll tell jokes, we'll have laughs, just like a real family. What do you say?"

Rachelle smiled and looked at me. "That's okay Blueth, you don't need to do that. This isn't the first time I felt this way when I see happy families. I'll get over it, don't worry about me."

"Are you sure? Because I can force Ms. Val to let you stay with us. Given that she won't fire me or anything."

"You don't need to do that." Rachelle said as she giggled.

As we were walking, Ms. Val suddenly appeared behind us. "Hey there, love birds."

"Love birds?" Rachelle asked as she looked at Ms. Val

"What are you talking about Ms. Val? Love birds? I don't see any love birds here. Where?" I said as I felt my face turning red.

"Blueth, you're acting up again.

"Psh, what? Acting up? What are you talking about? And what's all this talk about love birds?"

"Well, I was walking behind the two of you and you two looked like a cute couple. With the clothes the two of you are wearing, it's a perfect match. With Rachelle wearing that pink off-shoulder dress and you with that jacket and jeans. The two of you look like a couple. By the way, Rachelle? I'm loving that dress of yours."

"Why thank you, Ms. Val." Rachelle said as she twirled, making Ms. Val see her dress from front to back. She really loves it when people compliment her, especially when they compliment her and her dress, she always twirls so people can see the front and the back of the dress she was wearing. Call me weird, but I love it when she twirls like that.

Not long and we finally reached our school. There were lots of families gathered in the school courtyard. I looked over at Rachelle and she has a frown on her face.

"Hey? Don't go all sad on me okay? Ms. Val and I are with you."

"I won't" Rachelle said as she smiled at me.

"Alright, let's start having fun!" Ms. Val said as she started walking towards the booth. I quickly grabbed her scarf and stopped her from going to the booth she was walking towards to.

"We can't start having fun yet Ms. Val!"

"What? Why not? The booths are all up and ready to be played, I don't know why it's not time to have fun yet."

"Because there's still a ceremony to be done!"

"Ceremony? That's boring! Call me when the fun begins. I'm going home." Ms. Val then started walking away from the booth and was heading for the exit.

"You can't!"

"What? I can't play on the booths and now I can't go home!? What's this curse you've put on me!?"

"If you go home then people will look at us funny!"

"Well, that's your problem Blueth! I'm going home!"

"Ms. Val! No!"

"Ugh! Fine! I'll stay through the stupid ceremony, but I won't like it!" Ms. Val said as she finally gave in. I don't know if I'm the mother and Ms. Val is the student attending family day or something. I looked over at Rachelle and she was smiling as I kept stopping Ms. Val.

Not long and the ceremony started, it's just a normal ceremony, said what needs to be said. Recognize those people who need to be recognized. After the ceremony, it was now time for the games to begin. I didn't get to enjoy much of the games because I was keeping an eye on Ms. Val.

She gets too competitive in games! I caught her waving her finger around, and as far as I know Ms. Val, she was about to use magic to win one of the games. I stopped her before she gets to do her magic or whatever it is that she was about to do.

I stopped her because she was surrounded by lots of people, and I remember that Ms. Val doesn't like people to know about her magic. Plus, using magic in a game where your opponents don't have magic, that's cheating and cheating is not good. Don't cheat kids.

During the whole family day, I didn't get to have any fun because Ms. Val kept going competitive and I had to step in and stopped her from using her magic on all of the games she participated in. Well, I did have some kind of fun, it was fun trying to stop Ms. Val from using her magic.

I can't help but think that something was wrong, like, something is missing. I sat on one of the benches, thinking about something which keeps bothering me. And when it finally hit me, my eyes grew wide. I suddenly stood up and went running all over the school.

How can I be so forgetful! How can I forget about Rachelle!? Gah!
