Blueth Mendoza's POV
"Hey kiddo, you doing alright? Why are you so quiet all of a sudden? Did something wrong happen with Rachelle and you? Don't tell me the two of you broke up." Ms. Val said as she stepped down from the table. We just finished proofreading a book, well, we've actually finished proofreading 5 books now, with this one being the fifth one. "You've been quiet all day. Did the two of you fight or it's something else?"
I smiled at Ms. Val as I stepped down from the table. Closing the book, we proofread and attaching the note we got from it. "No, we didn't fight. And no, it's not about me and Rachelle, it's something else."
"Oh? You want to talk about it?" Ms. Val asked as she waved her finger around and a cup filled with orange juice floated towards us.
"Well, it's about a dream I had. It's been bothering me for a while now." I replied as I took the cup of orange juice Ms. Val made float in front of me.
"Ooh, is it one of those dreams? Was it about Rachelle?" Ms. Val winked at me as she said Rachelle's name. "Did you dream about Rachelle?"
"What? No, my dream wasn't about her. Not everything I dream is about her Ms. Val. Even though Rachelle's dreamy, I rarely dream about her."
"That's because you keep daydreaming about her."
I giggled as Ms. Val said that I kept daydreaming about Rachelle, she's not wrong though. I can't help but daydream about Rachelle, something about her makes me lose focus on the things I'm doing and just think about her. Something about her keeps pulling me towards her.
"Anyway, enough about your gayness for Rachelle, what's this weird dream you're talking about?" Ms. Val said as she took a sip from her orange juice.
"Well, Uhm, how do I put it? I don't know how to start." I took a deep breath as I started forming sentences in my mind. Thinking of how I can tell the dream I had nicely, thinking of ways on how I can deliver it clearly. "Okay, I got it. It started with me waking up, like normal, I talked with the plant on my window sill like I always do. Then, I did my morning routine and I made my way towards the kitchen like I always do, and then I called your name, and Cathy's like how I wake you guys up. And when you guys didn't give me a sign of not wanting to be woken up, I made my way towards the kitchen counter to grab metal pots and pans to throw on your room so I can wake you up. As I was walking towards the counter, I noticed a sticky not on the fridge door. I checked it out and it was a note from you saying that you and Cathy went to the market to go shopping and that you left my breakfast in the fridge. So, I opened the fridge and I saw dumplings, lots of them. I took them out and started eating. Are you even listening?" I asked Ms. Val because I saw her eyes starting to close.
"Oh? Uh... Yeah, loud and clear." Ms. Val replied as she looked at me with her eyes wide open with a smile forming on her face.
"Okay then? Anyway, as I was eating, I noticed that my surroundings started becoming gray. Then, the dumplings got turned into smoke and this weird guy suddenly appeared out of nowhere, he was so weird. I didn't see his face because he was wearing a mask."
"A mask?"
"Yes, a gray-ish white mask. Why?"
"Blueth, did this masked guy wore a cape in your dream?"
"A cape? Yes, he wore a dark blue cape. Why?"
"So, he appeared in your dream as well? That creep." Ms. Val said as her expression suddenly changed from calm into a mix of fear and anxiety. "What did he tell you?"
"Well, that's the thing I don't understand. He said that you're not real. I also saw this image of you sitting on a throne while you are surrounded by lots of people. After that, he told me that that's where you belong. This dream has been messing with my mind for a long time now. I've been thinking about what it means, I've been stressing about it, finding out what it means. But no matter how hard I try to think about it, no matter how hard I try finding the meaning behind it, I still don't know what it means."
"Why didn't you tell me this?" Ms. Val said as she walked beside me. "Why did you let it break you down like this Blueth?"
"I don't know. I wanted to ask you if you know what it means. But I thought to myself that it's just a dream. It's nothing to be worried about. It was just a dream, right? A bad nightmare? You're not leaving, right? You're not going away?" I asked as I looked at Ms. Val, tears slowly starting to flow down my cheeks. I don't know why tears are flowing from my eyes, maybe it's the stress of the dream I had?
Ms. Val suddenly hugged me, comforting me. I don't know why, but this hug feels familiar somehow. It feels like the hug from the first time Ms. Val comforted me. I closed my eyes and started crying on Ms. Val's shoulder, hugging her back.
"Oh Blueth, I should've told you this a long time ago. I shouldn't have hidden it from you." Ms. Val said as she started rubbing my back.
"A-about what?" I asked as I tried calming myself down, stopping the tears from flowing.
Ms. Val let out a sigh and silence started filling the room. "Blueth? Promise me that you won't think less of me when I tell you something about myself. I can't and I don't want to break the bond we formed."
"What do you mean?" I asked as I wiped away the remaining tears from my eyes.
"Please, I want you to promise me that you won't think less of me when you hear what I'm about to say."
I don't know what Ms. Val will say that will make me think less of her. But no matter what it is that she has to say, I won't think less about her. There is no reason why I would think less of her. "I promise."
Ms. Val let out a sigh as she let go of the hug and looked at me. "Blueth? I'm not human."
