Tiamat looked at the wall, which showed a calendar.
It was December 14, 2012.
It had been a month since she has arrived to this world.
Searching through the her memories, as well as looking into the history of this world...it seemed that this world was indeed a modern day Earth, with computers, cars, and airplanes.
The reason she implied that this was 'a modern day' Earth, and not the Earth she knows, is because there were global powered religious magical syndicates.
Compared to this world, her world's organizations were not religious and well hidden, such as the Atlas Institute, or the Clockwork Tower. This one, on the other hand, is manipulating the Japanese government from the shadows. It turns out the organization even had the backing of the United States of America.
Tiamat was flabbergasted at this.
The question remains, however. How did she know there was a hidden organization? It turns out the organization is quite dark, using children from orphanages as test subjects.
Coincidentally, this orphanage was one of them. The Tenshi Orphanage, which means the Orphanage of Heaven. Within a year, this organization will arive to 'adopt' the older children.
It seemed that is the reason why the orphanage caretakers have no Japanese name or origins, but the children do. The caretakers were hired overseas, while the children were from Japan.
'How curious...' Tiamat thought to herself. She has plenty of time to make contingency plans. No one would take her children away from her, unless they wish to suffer the consequences.
No one.
...
It was now December 25, 2012.
Tiamat was tasked with taking care of the younger children, those from the ages one to six. Five of them were laying on their beds, listening to her singing a lullaby.
The orphanage they were occupying, surrounded by a field of flowers and with a forest farther away, housed at least thirteen kids, the oldest being ten years old. The other eight where in the dining hall, where they were still eating.
A child of the age of one yawned, and Tiamat gently patted her head, smiling. She always had a sonorous, beautiful voice, and the matron and her coworkers all complimented her for it.
Humming a lullably, she lulled the babies and children all into a peaceful nap. Of course she kept her voice at the her lowest, only soft. If she screamed at full power...things would be really troublesome.
Feeding them, changing their diapers, playing with them...she does all these things with motherly affection.
The orphanage staff smiled and thanked her time and time again for her assistance, but she only replied, saying she just loves children.
They thought it was just modesty, so they were all smiles, thinking well of her.
If only they knew.
...
On the night of that day, a plague of akin to something of a magical nature, spread throughout humanity. Most, if not almost all people of the age thirteen and above, died abruptly.
Hooded vampires came rose from the underground, and brought some of the leftovers of humanity, who are twelve years or younger to their knees. They then took them down to their underground cities, for them to be served as blood cattle.
One group in particular headed for a certain orphanage.
Without knowing the fact that'll be their final resting place.
...
It was currently night, and Tiamat and a few other caretakers were watching all the kids go to bed after celebrating a small Christmas party. Althought it was a small Christmas party, it was still joyous. There was a small cake, and the children had fun. It was all that mattered.
Sitting on the bed, patting a sleepiing child, she smiled at the memory from earlier. But then her smile suddenly stifled, and she abruptly stilled.
All of a sudden, she felt something pass through her. She stood up hurriedly, confused. Looking around her, she saw her fellow coworkers, who were watching over the kids, fall to the ground.
Her eyes widening, she quickly moved to the matron, and touched her neck. No heartbeat.
'...is this a virus or some kind that affects adult humans?' Tiamat pondered.
Although her body was of an adult female human, she wasn't truly human at all.
Perhaps there were others like her?
A feeling of lost washed over her. Although she didn't really care nor feel any obligations towards these people before she awoke and now...they were still her coworkers. She had to feel at least some remorse over their sudden deaths.
'What...is happening?'
Her eyes narrowing, and she hurriedly opened the door, and headed all over the orphanage. Just like her fellow coworkers in the bedroom, they rest of them, along with the old matron, wre dead. After making sure that everyone was dead, she headed back to where the children were all at. Bursting through the door, she saw that both the children and babies were fine.
Although they were all awake, with some crying and others panicking. A few remained almost calm, mainly the older ones, a girl and a boy.
Tiamat exhaled in relief, putting her hand over her chest. They seemed fine, only scared and fearful of the caretakers suddenly falling over.
"Mother Tia, what is happening?" A boy, the oldest amongst the orphanage kids. He was at least ten years old, and when he looked at her, he as a question with an unusual calmness, unfitting for a boy his age.
"I don't know...but whatever happens...I'll be here...to protect you all."
Mostly frightened, they hovered around Tiamat, the oldest mostly asking questions, and youngest crying. The baby, hearing their cries, started crying as well.
Tiamat huffed to herself. Taking care of children was indeed difficult, especially by herself.
As she was debating on whether or not to use the old phone the old matron had, she felt something approaching her.
At an inhuman speed no less.
Nonhumans.
'So...it has come to this?'
Tiamat sighed. closing her eyes. After a few second, she slowly opened them again, and made everyone looking at her gasp. All of the children who saw her eyes stepped back instinctively.
Her iris, which was originally brown, became a pinkish-red, with a white x-mark covering the center of her eyes. Her hair, which was originally black, slow became a shade of light blue.
"What?"
The older boy stepped back, his brown eyes narrowing.
"Mo-Shouri, stay back."
The second oldest, a gray haired girl, stood beside him, her face turned into a mix of wariness and curiosity.
It was to be expected, as throughout their many years living in this orphanage, not once had they seen Mother Tia like this, let alone her form changing.
Before they began asking questions, Tiamat interrupted them.
"I'll tell you...all later...but for now...we have to...hurry!" she hurriedly grabbed the youngest and ushered the rest of the children out of the bedroom, down the hallway, and out of the orphanage...
And into the midnight sky.
...
Vampires came, moving towards their position, at a speed in which they can't outrun, without a distraction.
Tiamat can take care of herself, but there were thirteen defenseless children with her. The only way to protect them all is if they were near the ocean.
Thankfully, it was only a four to five minute run towards the ocean.
"Hurry, children. The older ones...guide and carry the younger ones. Follow the stream of water. If we...make it to the ocean...you'll all be safe!"
She hurried all the children to follow the stream, which flows until it reaches the ocean. Running across the field of flowers, with her enhanced hearing, she heard the rustling of trees and leaves, the crunching twigs and branches.
"Keep moving children...don't stop...!"
She handed the baby to Shouri, and turned back to face the approaching shadows, each wearing white cloaks and hoods. Shouri seemed to instinctively stopped, opening his mouth, but the grey haired girl pulled him away. They started running once more with the other orphans.
After making sure the children disappeared within the shrubs and shadows, she turned around to look back at the approaching vampires.
'Although you are from this world, you are neither human nor descended from me. Therefore, there is no reason to hold back my might!'
As the wave of vampires grew closer, she opened her mouth, and screamed.
"Ahhhhhhhhh!"
It wasn't a shriek that hurt the ears, however. It was more like a performer singing at an opera raising her voice to the maximum without cracking. Her scream created a shockwave that both stilfled the vampires and blew them farther back.
After continuously screaming for an entire minute, she turned around, running towards the direction where children were heading towards.
The vampires, althought weren't injured greatly, were dazed and confused.
"Wh-what was that?!"
"Keep chasing! She's probably only a person who made a contract with a cursed weapon!"
...
Although a few of the orphans almost tripped, they finally made their way out of the trees, and onto the sandy beach.
As it was night, a different scene one would normally see in the day. A dark beach, and an ocean that looks like a void, with the moon shining upon it. It looked like a scene from a painting, but the children had no time for that.
The bushes behind them moved, and they all shuddered, fearing for the worst as they stepped away...only to see Tiamat coming out.
Before most of them heaved a sigh of relief, she urgently moved towards them, and kept herding them towards the ocean.
Confused, they followed her out of fear and curiosity, until they finally reached the edge of the ocean. Tiamat turned her focus on them once more, and smiled as motherly and kindly as she could.
"Stay here, children, and watch as you'll see something truly magical." she spoke softly, before turning around, and stepped onto the water.
As she began walking deeper into the ocean, vampires exploded from the trees. Seeing the children and the adult woman, they were momentarily surprised, but soon gave chase, only to abruptly stop at what they just saw.
Tiamat walked in the water, and felt rejuvenated, feeling it's power flowing through her. To the surprise of the vampires and her children, she floated into the air. Two large ram-like horns suddenly grew from both sides of her head, along with a tail that grew from her back, black and dragonlike. Her light blue hair, already quite long, grew even longer, extending all the way down until it slightly reached past the bottom of the soles of her feet.
As she transformed into her Femme Fatale form, the water underneath her bubbled, and turned into a mudlike, watery substance of a mostly red color, with a small mix of purple and black.
When the water transformed, she then opened her mouth, her sharp teeth showing...and screamed once more.
"AHHHHHHHHHHH!"
This time, there was much more power behind her scream. It blew the vampires away once more, making them tumble along the sand.
Looking at the unnatural transformation of a 'human' suddenly turning into a 'beast,' a few vampire's shuddered, with some dropped their weapons out of shock and fear.
How could they not?
The vampires were ordered to go up to the outside world, to make lowly and weak human's their prey. Their cattle. They expected resistance, but only resistance akin to powerless ants facing giants.
They were noble vampires, higher beings! Only twelve year old human children and below would be-should be the only ones alive.
Unfortunately, they were proven wrong.
It was the first time they were seeing such a fearful being, and they were unable to even resist it.
"Don't tell me...t-that is a S-S-Seraph of the E-End!?" a vampire at the back screamed in shock. Fear, already prevalent within his body, washed over him once more, as he began scrambling to get away.
To run.
To flee.
The rest of them, hearing that vampire's theory, quickly began backing away in hopes of escape.
Seraphs of the End, or known as the Seven Trumpets, were calamity like beings, destined to bring catastrophe onto humanity. Other living beings were just in the way of their mission. Such as these vampires, who seemed like ants to Tiamat.
"Everyone, retreat!"
"We must report this back to the high council! Hurry, run!"
Not even taking one last look at the visage of the inhuman being, the vampires hurriedly scampered and flee, hoping to escape the coming catastrophe.
But it was futile.
Being so close to the sea, it was inevitable that they will not be able to outrun what was coming. Even with their enhanced vampire physique, how can they hope to escape a giant flood of water?
Growing from the ocean, the water from the sea formed a huge wave, and it stampeded towards the vampires. As the wave towered over the thirteen children, they all either shivered, flinched, cried, or screamed, with a couple closing their eyes, bracing for impact.
""...""
Opening their eyes, to the children's surprise, instead of flooding them, the wave of water magically moved around them. It continued onwards, flooding the vampires that attempted to flee.
One by one, they were drowned, engulfed beneath the might of the primordial sea.
'They would serve as good materials for my children,' Tiamat pondered thoughtfully, looking down at the sea. The area beneath her was like a sludge. Compared to the transparent multicolored blue water, it was murky, with a mix of red, black, grey, and purple. It would probably not be called an ordinary sea anymore.
If the world was changing...then an army must be created to inhabit the ruined land.
The thought of bringing back new life to the world made her beam with joy inwardly. Oh, what joy it was, to become the mother of all life once more!
"Everything...will be fine...my children. I'll protect you...because I love you all...each and every one of you," Tiamat said, showing her motherly face at the shaking kids. The oldest two, however, were abnormally calm. Shouri was, although appearing to be calm, was tense, while the oldest girl was observing Tiamat carefully.
Tiamat didn't seem to notice it at all, since she was pondering on what to do henceforth.
With the world changing like this, perhaps this could be another godsend wish for her.
They'll now fully depend on her, their mother. Just thinking about being the mother of all life once more made her feel elated inside.
