I Got Kicked Out

"No. I guess I was lost in thought," Jonah said tiredly.

"What's eating you?" the young man persisted.

Why did a total stranger care? Overly friendly people made him uncomfortable. He doubted the guy would even bother talking to him if he had been seated on Jonah's right instead of his left.

Irritation filtering through the emptiness he had been drowning in, he turned and glared at the guy. "I got kicked out of my house for the rest of the night. You wouldn't care about baseball either."

His tone coupled with his rather menacing face was meant to deter this guy but he didn't so much as bat an eyelash. Instead, he laughed. "So did David but that's not stopping him. He's still a newlywed and his wife banished him earlier today to go on a bread-making binge with her friend."
