Best Friends

Jonah smiled reassuringly at his girlfriend. "I'm sure everything will be fine. We're going to have fun this weekend; you'll see."

Eden certainly hoped so. If Ezra gave her boyfriend a hard time or decided to talk to her about her avoidance of their mother, this visit was going to feel way longer than it should. Nadia might help her run interference but she also might be on her fiancé's side. She was a wild card that couldn't necessarily be depended upon.

"I can handle myself, you know," he continued. "Is that all you're worried about or is there something else bothering you?"

She sighed. He knew her too well. "Ezra had to endure our mom alone on Christmas and didn't complain to me about it at all. I'm pretty sure he's going to bring it up at some point while he's here and I really don't want to deal with that.
