My Auntie's House

I would also like to share about my experience in my auntie's house. I hope you enjoy it.

So, my aunt bought herself a house and lot in the province. I even remember that the street near it was called Papaya Street, but I remember little else in terms of landmarks, since the place was really out of the way and hidden from the rest of the town.

The house itself was large and reached up to the third floor. It had an outdoor kitchen, a spacious living room, six bedrooms, attic, minibar, and a billiards room. Auntie wasn't satisfied with just that and had another floor built - the fourth floor - on top of it so that it could be turned into a pool area.

In the front part of the house - it was even called a mansion by the other people in the area because it was so large compared to the neighboring houses - there was a wishing well by the side that had a lot of fish. And beside it was a large tap that seemed to have rusted over because it was so old, and you could see the signs of aging on the concrete and the faucet itself. Behind the house was a wide basketball court.

To be fair, the house looked grand. All of it was bought by Auntie at the price of two million pesos only. And that was aside from the fourth floor that she had added on top.

That was the start of it.

After the fourth floor was built, Auntie immediately held a house blessing ceremony. There were so many people who came to attend it. And the banquet reached from the gate to the open courtyard of the house's backyard. They even had the minibar, billiards room, and even the rooftop pool cleaned, furnished and open for this special occasion.

My entire family attended that event. We came all the way from the city and stayed for three days there. It was the time when I still didn't have a husband, so I had no children to worry about.

Soon, the house blessing was over, and at first, we didn't have any idea that the house already had a certain… history to it. However, Auntie and our other relatives who actually lived there were apparently already aware of the ghostly presence there.

That night, after the house blessing, they started making their presence known to us.

I was going down the stairs when I saw my older brother standing in front of the bathroom, carrying a towel and a change of clothes.

He said, "Who the hell is in that restroom?! They're taking so long, damn it, I can feel the shit coming out of my butt and I still need to take a bath!!"

I said, "Well, I don't know. I just got here. Maybe they couldn't hear you from inside."

My brother started going upstairs out of frustration, but he hadn't gone up half of it when I managed to open the door.

I called out to him, "Are you an idiot? There's no one here, and I checked since the floor of the bathroom is dry."

He begged to differ. "There was someone in there earlier, I even heard them taking a shower." I found him funny since he looked like he was spooked.

The next incident happened at around 10 in the morning the next day.

My cousin Marie and I were in the living room, watching some TV. I was lying down on the long sofa that faced the TV, while she was at my feet.

I suddenly got up because a lady dressed in white passed by us on our side. I wasn't able to see any details of her face, but I knew she was a girl. I had to sit up, and I stretched my neck out, trying to see exactly who surprised me by passing by us.

I blurted out, "Who was that, Marie? Where's she going?"

My teenage cousin answered, "Oh, don't pay attention to her. That damn lady always passes by here," then said no more.

However, I knew that person was anything but normal.

The next victim was Albert.

We were going to eat dinner, so my older brother Albert needed to get some rice from the kitchen. We were all surprised when we heard a plate break and thought something bad might have happened to him. But we found that it really just fell, and the rice had spilled all over the floor.

He said that he saw a lady looking at him from outside through the window. Due to him being surprised, he let go of the plate and spilled the rice.

They all laughed about it and joked that Albert was high on weed at the time, hence the incident. But I already had an ominous feeling about it.

The next one who experienced a haunting was my mom.

She said that she saw her older sister Christine by the gate, looking away from her. She immediately went to her and handed her a 500 peso bill. She even said, "Oh Christine, here's the amount I owe you, okay? We're going to be leaving tomorrow."

Mama even grabbed Christine's hand so that she could place the money in it. It looked like Ate couldn't hear her, and she didn't even face my mom or speak. Mama shrugged and left her alone after that.

Then when she went inside, she saw Ate Christine washing the pots in the kitchen!

The latter, seeing her coming in, approached her and asked her for the 500. They argued about it, since Mama said that she had already given the money to her when she saw her outside just earlier, while Ate Christine insisted she had not gone outside yet. That fight didn't seem to end at all.

Soon, it was our last day, and we were going to leave that evening. This was the ghost's biggest show yet.

While we waited for Mama and my aunt to return home from the wet market, my siblings and I played cards with our cousins in the attic. I'm guessing the ghost got fed up with the noise we were making, because we made a lot.

Almost all of us ran towards the stairs and took a peek when we heard the loud crashing of the chandelier from the ceiling to the living room.

Almost all of us got scared, since we didn't believe that it could have just fallen on its own. Its cord that was attached to the ceiling didn't show signs of wear. We went downstairs to take a closer look and saw that there were cracks all over the center table - Auntie was going to kill us for sure - as it was hit by the chandelier.

We also found out that before it was sold to my aunt, the house already had a history behind it. There was a married couple who lived in it, and the girl was pregnant.

Unfortunately, the lady also had a heart disease.

One time, she was left alone at home by her husband so that he could work. While cleaning the house, she overexerted herself, so she suffered from a heart attack and couldn't breathe. She soon died, but the baby lived, if I remember correctly.

The one who told the story was the husband of the lady who died. He was also the one who sold the house to Auntie.

So there, even three years after the time we last went there, the woman still haunted the house and showed herself to the people there. I believe, to this day, that ghost can still be seen by my Aunt and those who lived with her.
