Thoughts By The Stream

After going through every spatial bag he had gotten, Yun Tian moved on to his next gruesome task. He had to cut out the dantian of every body he had and there were many of them.

He thought about asking for some help from the others, but then he remembered the wolves were still recovering and he wouldn't ask Shen Yu for help with this kind of thing even if she didn't mind.

So, he had to do this task on his own.

He went some distance away from the area they picked and stopped near a stream.

Then, he took out a body and used his sword to cut out the dantian within their abdomen. He held no remorse for having killed these people or taking the dantians from their deceased bodies as they had tried to harm his family.

After taking out the dantian though, he thought, 'What should I do with the bodies after taking out their dantians?'

'They were our enemies and tried to kill us. They are already dead. I killed them. It's not like I would bury them anyway, the most I would do is ask Zhi to burn them. I am already taking their dantians from their dead bodies. I am already desecrating their bodies. At least their cultivation effort wouldn't be completely wasted if I used their bodies for other things.'

'I can give them to the wolves if need be or I can find a better use for them later. There is no need to get rid of them now, I guess. Above all, why do I need to treat with respect the dead bodies of those who tried to harm us?'

Finishing his thoughts, he just put the body away separate from everything else he had in a different spatial bag.

He kept on going and dug out each of their dantians one by one. It still felt awful having to do this as they were all humans, but with his decision having been made he would stick to it.

He finally finished going through each of the bodies and paused for a moment. He looked at his hands covered in blood as his mind became slightly chaotic.

'Am I just becoming like those who killed my parents? Am I worse?'

He sighed and slowly walked over to the nearby stream and slowly submerged himself in it. It was quite deep and he kept himself on the bottom as he submerged himself in the center of it.

He held his breath and let the rushing waters calm his mind.

He stayed in the stream for a little bit, before he revisited his thoughts, 'I killed them because I attacked us. As for what I just did and everything I do…'

'I need to be strong to protect myself and Shen Yu. No… Me, Shen Yu and the Wolves. No… I need to be strong to protect everyone I love whether it's now or in the future.'

'It's not only for our protection. I need strength to do anything.'

A smile broke out on his face at this point as he thought, 'Cultivating and growing stronger is truly fun. Both the feeling of growing stronger and knowing that I will live longer is great. I wouldn't mind living forever with the ones I love like Shen Yu and the wolves.'

As he thought about this his face became especially radiant and he thought about the stars he saw in the sky. If he could reach the stars with his power then he believed he would be able to live forever with Shen Yu.

Unknowingly, one of his goals had already become getting powerful enough to live forever with Shen Yu. He already knew from others that cultivation could dramatically increase your lifespan just like he had seen in novels on Earth. He just needed to reach a high enough realm and then help the rest get there too. With that, they would all live possibly forever.

But then his face cooled down while the water around him became deathly still almost freezing over and boiling at the same time.

'For now though, I need strength to do one thing. Kill those who murdered Mom and Dad. To do that… I need strength quickly and I will do anything to obtain it as long as it doesn't completely go against my beliefs. And maybe…'

He stayed under the water for a while longer regaining his cool. When he regained his calm, he came out of the water refreshed. Both his appearance and his mental state were completely renewed. The blood that had previously covered him was now gone.

As for his mental state, it had been a while since he had a chance to be alone and truly go through all the stress accumulating within him. His eyes that had become slightly irresolute had regained their vigor with even greater passion than before burning within them.

After leaving the stream, he returned to the others.

Upon his arrival, he inspected each of the wolves and Shen Yu. The wolves didn't stop cultivating when they sensed it was only Yun Tian. As for Shen Yu, he had masked his presence slightly with the Fleeting Steps skill so as to not disturb her.

After seeing that each of them were doing just fine, he went to do his own thing. After he sat down though, Shen Yu looked at his back with many thoughts going through her head. Even though Yun Tian had been stealthy, Shen Yu was somehow still able to feel that he had returned.

'Tian seems refreshed now. Did something good happen? Either way it's good.'

Shen Yu knew that Yun Tian didn't like indiscriminate murder. So, she had been secretly worried after he killed so many people. As she saw the look on his face and his bearing that seemed to have grown even stronger and steadier, she felt relieved.

However, just like he didn't want to disturb her, she didn't want to disturb him as he had already started with his own stuff. So, she just went back to cultivating.
