The beginning of everything

New Orleans, 1915

A young girl walked carefully through the streets of the magnificent and lively city of New Orleans. As she walked, she held her dress so that she wouldn't trip over it.

At one point she felt herself being followed and quickly looked back but saw nothing. When she turned around so she could continue on her way, she came across a tall, 30-year-old man standing in front of her. The girl startled herself and took a few steps back.

"What does such a young and beautiful girl do here alone" he asked smiling maliciously

"I was just taking a walk." she replied, trying to be brave

"It may be dangerous."

Without the girl waiting, the man grabbed her and leaned her against a wall. She even thought about screaming but realized that the street was empty, they were probably all at the festival on the other side of town which meant she would have to get away with it.

But before she could even cast the spell, the man covered her mouth.

"Don't even think about doing anything, bitch. I'll just have a little fun with you and then each one goes on with their life."

Before the youngest could reason the human's words, she felt him drop her and saw him fall to the floor, at his feet, dead. She quickly realized what had happened when she saw in front of her a blonde woman, well dressed and who had the dead man's heart in her hand.

"No way to talk to a lady." the stranger spoke and crushed the heart hard on the floor "I hate bad manners".

The blonde looked the young woman up and down and looked at her face, which, strangely, did not seem to convey the sensation of fear.

"What's your name, child?" she questioned.

"Maria Anderson Dias. Who are you?"

"Rebekah Mikaelson."

"An Original?" - the 12 year old asked in surprise - "Your family's name is well known all over the world, although I never knew who you were."

"Exactly. You are well informed, little witch." - the youngest frowned - "I can feel your power, which is not little by the way. How old are you?"

"12 years."

"12 years old, so young and innocent. Come with me, I'll take you to the Mikaelson mansion." - the older one turned her back.

"Why should I trust you?" asked Maria, suspicious

"I just saved you." she replied "Besides, I feel like I have to protect you. For some reason you seem to me ... different." - she looked the young woman in the eyes - "Shall we?"

The original vampire turned her back and started walking towards the Mikaelson mansion.

Still half reluctant whether or not to trust the blonde, the witch ended up trusting her instincts and followed Rebekah.

New Orleans, 1916

Maria was sitting on the sofa at the Mikaelson mansion, along with Rebekah.

After the day that Rebekah saved the witch, the two created a strong friendship, despite a great difference in ages. The vampire protected the youngest and helped her with her ancient experience. Maria was like the daughter that Rebekah could never have.

The two were talking animatedly about a jazz festival they had attended last night, but their conversation was interrupted by a well-dressed man entering the room.

Maria looked at the man. He could only be one of the Mikaelson's brothers.

"Rebekah, you did not inform us that we had visitors." - he said very polite.

"Sorry, brother." - Rebekah got up and the younger one did the same.

"Maria, this is my brother, Elijah Mikaelson. Elijah, this is Maria Dias, that witch I told you about."

Elijah walked over to the girl and gently took her hand, placing a kiss on it.

"It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Maria." - greeted the Original.

"It is also a pleasure to meet you, Elijah." - He smiled friendly.

Well dressed, handsome, very polite. Elijah looked like a real walking knight.

"Hey, I'm going to the kitchen to get something to eat and I'll be right back. Take care of Maria for me, Elijah." - said Rebekah

The Original Barbie did not even wait for an answer and went to the kitchen, leaving Elijah and Maria alone.

Maria was ashamed to be alone in the presence of an Original vampire, a handsome Original.

Both remained silent. The girl avoided eye contact with the older one while the vampire watched her closely, as if he were trying to discover her soul.

The silence was broken by the sound of someone entering the room, and it was not Rebekah.

A well-dressed blond man entered the room, accompanied by a blonde woman.

"Ah, sorry to interrupt this moment, brother. But don't worry, my illustrious guest and I are going to disappear. Let's go dear." said the man, still unknown to Maria.

Elijah shook his head in denial and turned his attention back to the youngest.

"Forgive me for my brother Niklaus' behavior. Sometimes he forgot to use the education that our parents gave us."

"It's okay, Elijah. And you can treat me for you." - the young woman gave a captivating smile

The older man smiled in response as well. He had barely spoken to the girl but he had already realized that there was something different about her, he just didn't know what it was.

New Orleans, 1917

The Mikaelson family had decided to throw a party at their magnificent mansion in celebration of the festive season in New Orleans.

The hall was packed with people from today's high society and some bourgeois as well.

Rebekah had invited Maria and the two were sitting at a table while they were talking about different subjects. While the vampire drank some alcoholic beverage, the young woman just preferred to drink water, after all she could not drink alcohol.

The girl looked around the room and stopped looking at Niklaus, who was talking to some important politicians. Despite having met several times, the two had never spoken or had been introduced since Rebekah did not insist that Maria met her brother, taking into account his reputation.

The younger one turned her attention again to her friend who was chattering about her "relationship" with Marcel.

"I can't understand, Bekah." -she commented- "If you and Marcel love each other, why don't you get together once and for all?"

"It is a complicated situation, Mari."

"Why? Loving is not a crime, Rebekah." -she touched the hand of the original, smiling at her.

"Nik would never accept this relationship and besides that I can't take the risk of ending up in a coffin with a dagger in my heart and leaving you here alone. I don't know if you would be safe." -she explained.

"You have a right to love whoever you want, Bekah."

"But..."

"No but. Niklaus has no right to tell you who you may or may not be with. I realize that he may even want to protect his little sister but he has no right to control your life and much less to punish you for it. You deserve it. make your own choices, love whoever you want. You deserve to be happy, Becks. "

They both faced each other and Rebekah didn't know how to respond, so she decided to change the subject.

"Look, Elijah is here."

Maria turned and saw the noble Original enter the hall, wearing a very elegant suit that made him look incredible.

"Isn't it beautiful?" - Rebekah asked, noticing her friend's looks.

"Yes, yes it is ... magnificent." - turned back to her friend.

"Maria, are you interested in my brother?" -she smirked.

"What? No, of course not, Rebekah. Elijah is quite handsome but he is just a friend." - she said, being sincere - "Besides, if I had to choose a Mikaelson brother..."

The girl did not finish the sentence, leaving it in the air and taking the Original by surprise.

"Klaus? That bastard?" - she asked in surprise and Maria laughed - "Wow ... Maria Anderson Dias, I never thought you were interested in bad boys."

"Look, Marcel is over there." - it was the witch's turn to change the subject - "Go to him."

Rebekah looked at her friend and gained courage to go to the brunette. The youngest smiled at her friend's attitude and decided to go to the makeshift bar to order another glass of water. She sat on one of the high stools and waited for the man in charge of drinks to notice her presence.

"I thought kids couldn't drink."

Maria heard an unknown voice speak and when she looked to know who she was she was surprised to see Niklaus beside her.

"And they can't." -she replied - "That's why I just came to ask for a glass of water."

"Very responsible, little witch."

She looked at him but made no attempt to answer him.

Niklaus was even more beautiful and attractive seen up close. Anyone could easily fall at his feet, just with that accent and smile.

"I don't think we were ever officially introduced." - he said and the girl looked at him again - "Klaus Mikaelson."

"Maria Anderson Dias." - gave a minimal smile.

"You're Rebekah's friend."

"You're Rebekah's brother."

The young woman did not intend to give Klaus much confidence, after all she knew all the things he had done during his long life. Who knows what he would do to the witch if she did something he didn't like, even though she was a great friend of Rebekah.

"Are you afraid of me?" - questioned the vampire, watching her intently.

"Please, I'm not afraid of anything." - she said confidently.

Klaus smiled at the girl's attitude.

"Does the lady accept this dance?" - proposed the original.

Maria looked suspiciously at Klaus's outstretched hand. Should she accept dancing with the most feared vampire ever? However, it was just a dance. It wasn't like he wanted anything from her.

"Of course." -she grabbed the elder's hand.

Mikaelson guided the girl to the center of the dance floor and the two started dancing to the calm music of violins.

"How old are you?" he asked, interested.

"14 years."

"So young... You still have a lot to discover about life and the world around you." - He brought his mouth close to the witch's ear and whispered - "Maybe I can teach you some things."

What did he mean by that?

Maria looked at Klaus and opened her mouth to answer but nothing came out. He brought his face close to hers and spoke.

"Be careful not to miss the steps."

He gave a sly smile to which the young witch responded with a roll of her eyes. The two danced for a while longer, talking a little about different subjects.

Despite his dangerous air, Klaus was not as bad as Maria thought he would be. He even tried to be nice to the girl and managed to be a gentleman. Besides of course, being a very interesting and handsome man.

Klaus did his best to be polite to the little witch, he was trying to please her and smiled whenever the youngest laughed or smiled at something he had said. He was letting his guard down and didn't know why.

What they did not know was that, on the other side of the room, someone was watching them closely.

Elijah Mikaelson.

New Orleans. 1917

Elijah Mikaelson was sitting in one of the cauldrons in the living room of the Mikaelson mansion, while drinking his whiskey.

Niklaus passed through the room but didn't pay much attention when he saw his brother sitting there.

"Niklaus, wait." - said Elijah

The noble Original set down his glass and stood up, watching his brother, who was looking at him impatiently.

"What's up, Elijah? I don't have time for your dramas, brother."

"It's not drama. I just wanted to give you advice." - He said approaching - "Maybe it is better to get away from Rebekah's friend, Maria."

Niklaus looked at his brother, who had a serious expression, and started to laugh.

"Why should I do that? Can't I be friends with the little witch?" he asked, still laughing.

"We both know that you're not friends with anyone unless you get something out of it, Niklaus."

"You offend my feelings, Elijah." -he put his hand on his chest, making an offended face

"I'm not kidding, Klaus!" - she exclaimed and leaning her bastard brother against the wall - "She is a pure girl with no malice inside her, she does not deserve to be used in your ridiculous games of obsession for more power!"

The youngest brutally pushed his brother free of his grip.

"I know it is pure and I am not using it in my games." - he said seriously - "But why is this all because of the girl, brother? You are jealous? Are you afraid that little witch will fall in love with me and leave you aside?" - gave a cynical laugh

Elijah was beginning to run out of patience but he still didn't want to lose his posture.

"Don't do anything with her that will make me kill you, Klaus." he warned and left at vampire speed.

Niklaus was serious and staring at the door where his relative had left. For some reason, he had not liked the way Elijah accused him of having bad intentions with the young woman but he knew he would not follow his brother's advice.

New Orleans, 1917

Not knowing what to do ... That was how Maria felt. She was surrounded by a clan of witches who were hurting her.

That clan had discovered that Maria was a friend of the Mikaelson family, with whom the New Orleans witches did not have good relations.

"Stop...Please stop..." - Maria asked, already with little strength.

One moment all the witches hurt her and the next they stopped. The youngest tried her best to understand what was going on and soon realized as soon as she saw the Mikaelson's fighting with witches. She smiled, they had come to save her.

But her happiness did not last long, as two witches had just tied her arms with a pair of chains.

"Let go of me!" - exclaimed.

"We will not let you go, which means that you will just watch your loved ones suffer." said one of the old witches

She tried at all costs to free herself. She was still weak, which meant that her magic could do nothing against the clan.

When she stopped trying to break free, she saw Elijah and Rebekah fighting with those psychotics but it was then that she noticed Niklaus. He had already killed two wizards but at that moment one of the older witches was using her magic on him, making him suffer and scream.

"I'll kill you!!!!!" he shouted, amid cries of pain.

"I don't think so." replied the woman

Maria's anger had grown at the sight of it. The young witch was going to seek strength, who knows where, and her power grew every moment. She couldn't see Klaus in distress for another second.

She managed to find the strength to remove the chains and throw the people holding her away.

She looked over to where the Original Vampire was being tormented and her anger grew even stronger.

"STOP!!"

Maria screamed and with that scream she released a great amount of magic that ended up making all the witches present fall, killing them.

Her breath was choking and she looked at her hands, wondering if where she had gone to get so much strength to do what she had done.

Elijah and Rebekah helped Niklaus to his feet and the three stared at the girl in surprise.

"She is more powerful than we thought..." - murmured the original nobleman

Klaus walked slowly over to the young woman and touched her shoulder, holding on to her.

"You are fine?" he asked, with an expression of concern.

"I should be the one to ask that. You were being tortured!" she replied

They just stared at each other, while being watched by the other Mikaelson brothers.

From one moment to the next, Maria began to feel pain all over her body and her bones started to crack. She fell on the floor, not knowing what was happening to her.

"Ahhhhhhh!!!!!!!" -she cried out in pain

Klaus walked away quickly, going back to the brothers and watching what was happening quite frightened, as well as the others.

"But what..." said Rebekah.

"What is happening to me?!?!?!"

Her bones continued to break if, her spine was no longer the same and claws had grown in her fingers.

"This is not possible..." - whispered Elijah.

Maria's eyes turn yellow and her fangs have grown, making a frightening face and confirming the inevitable.

"She's turning into a..." - Rebekah couldn't finish her speech.

"...wolf" completed Klaus.

Niklaus was in his room, lying on the bed, while reading a poem.

His reading was interrupted by a knock on the door.

"You may come in."

He thought it would be one of his brothers but he was surprised to see Maria entering her room, a little ashamed.

"Maria..."

"I just stopped by to see if you were okay." she said

Klaus looked at her and gave a small smile.

"Yes I'm fine."

The vampire motioned the witch to sit on the bed, and that was what she did, right next to the older man's legs.

"And you? Are you okay, little witch?"

"Defines well". - She gave an ironic laugh - "As much as possible. I'm still trying to cope with the fact that I turned into a wolf. We can say that I was not expecting that."

"You got used to it, sweetheart." - He said - "What are you going to do about witches?"

"I have no idea, Klaus ... I just know that, young or old, dead or alive, witches are a pain in the ass."

The youngest managed to get a laugh out of the Original and smiled at that.

"Don't worry about it now, love."

Niklaus put a hand on Maria's face, who just stared at him without saying anything.

"No one should hurt such a pure and innocent soul ..."

"I'm not that innocent ..."

"You have a good heart ..." - He caressed her face - "There is no evil inside you ..."

"You're not as mean as you want people to think either, Nik." -she took it in his hand-"you want everyone to be afraid of you just by hearing your name but that's just a way to protect yourself. You were not born bad, life made you that way. All the things you did were trying to release that anger that you have inside you."

"Or maybe because I am pure evil." he smiled

"No..." - she approached him- "You have such a big heart, Klaus ... it's okay to let other people see that. And I know, that deep down there is a part of you that is still human."

Without saying anything else, Maria joined her lips with the vampire's. He was surprised because he wasn't expecting it but he didn't reject the witch's kiss. Klaus pulled her closer to him, but before he could think of doing anything else, she moved away from him. The young werewolf ran his hand over Niklaus's neatly trimmed beard and smiled.

"Good night, Klaus."

And without saying anything else, she left the room, leaving Mikaelson alone and thinking about what the young woman had said.

New Orleans, 1917

Elijah entered the kitchen of the mansion Mikaelson and came across Maria, who was reading a book intently.

"Good afternoon Maria."

"Good afternoon, Elijah." she responded when she noticed the presence of the original.

The girl closed the book and the older one approached, being able to notice which book the young woman was reading.

"Wolves and Witches. Why are you reading this book?" - he questioned

"I am trying to find out something about my origins, something that tells me what I truly am."

Maria bowed her head and Mikaelson watched her.

"You're scared, aren't you?"

The witch faced him at this question and, after taking a deep breath, answered honestly.

"Yes I am. I have no idea how to handle this and control myself. I don't want to hurt anyone and ... I don't want anything to happen."

Noble Mikaelson took the younger girl's hand, which made her face him.

"I promise I won't let anything happen to you, Maria. You have my word."

Maria smiled at the promise of the Original and embraced the. He was not expecting such an attitude but promptly responded to the hug.

"You are a good friend, Elih."

The two separated and Elijah smiled a little at the girl's speech, saying goodbye to her and leaving that room.

New Orleans, 1917

Maria was on the balcony of her room at the Mikaelson mansion. It was a beautiful night and the girl was watching the sparkling stars.

"Admiring the stars?"

The girl was startled but soon calmed down when she recognized the voice. She looked at the owner and looked at the stars again, saying nothing.

"We need to talk."

"About what?" - she asked, turning to face him

"About this." - he pointed at them both

"And what would "this" be?" - smirk

"You and me..."

Niklaus paused for a long time and touched the girl's face, caressing her, which made her smile.

"I've done a lot of terrible things and I know you know that. But everything you know is nothing to the things you don't know." - he sighed - "I am cruel, merciless, despicable, terrifying and a lot of other adjectives. You deserve someone better than me."

"I don't want anyone better than you. I want you." - touched the vampire's face - "I don't care about the things you did, no matter how horrible they are." - Sighed - "I'm in love with you, Nick."

"Rebekah would try to kill me if she knew I messed with you."

"She doesn't need to know." - she gave a small smile.

Before Klaus could answer, the youngest joined her lips with his. It was a calm, unhurried kiss.

The vampire pulled the girl closer to him, deepening the kiss further.

"How is it possible to awaken the good in me?" - he asked, when the kiss stopped

They kept their faces close and with their foreheads glued together, the wolf ran her finger over her lover's lips.

"Maybe because you have feelings for me too." -she smiled and kissed the original again.

New Orleans, 1917

Maria had moved into the Mikaelson family mansion and Niklaus had asked them to build a room, especially for her.

That night, she and Rebekah decided to have a "girl's night" in the witch's new room.

"Ahm ... I'm going to get some water, Rebekah. I'll be back." said the youngest leaving the room quickly

She followed the hallway of the mansion and felt herself being pulled into one of the rooms. She knew perfectly well who she was.

"You look beautiful." whispered Klaus, kissing her.

"I know." he laughed "I can't be long, I told Rebekah that she was going to get water."

The original stared at the youngest and laughed.

"She kills you if you know you lied to her and escaped."

"Even more if I know she went to see you."

Maria smiled and kissed Klaus.

"How much longer will we have to hide, Nik?" she asked, looking him in the eye

"Not much more, love. Soon, everyone will know." answered.

"Why can't you be like that all the time?" she asked "Why aren't you the same Klaus with others as you are with me?"

"Because you're different, Mar ... It would be a little insulting to treat you the same way I treat other insignificant beings."

"You understood what I meant, Mikaelson." - snorted - "You don't have to pretend to be mean all the time."

"We both know I don't pretend, sweetie." - gave a malicious smile

New Orleans, 1918

"Now, ladies and gentlemen, a strong applause for the lady, Maria Dias."

That was the cue for Maria's grand entrance.

Elijah was at the top of the stairs, waiting for the same.

"Elijah."

"Maria. You're so beautiful." commented kissing her hand

"Thanks. Let's say your sister has good taste." she replied smiling, as they went down the stairs.

Near the end of the stairs, Niklaus was waiting for the girl. He was amazed at the beauty of the girl, so young but so beautiful and mature ... and he was lucky to be able to say that she was his.

"Miss Dias." greeted elegantly.

"Mr. Mikaelson." smiled.

Maria gave Elijah a final smile before joining Klaus, who offered his arm and gave him a peck in front of the crowd.

The amazement was evident in the face of everyone present, except for Rebekah, Marcel and Elijah, who had already discovered it.

"What was this?" murmured the wolf.

"Nothing much, I was just showing everyone the magnificent woman that I have by my side."

"Girl." corrected him and gave a slight laugh "I'm still a simple girl."

"Not so simple, love."

New Orleans, 1918

Maria walked through the crowd of people on the streets of New Orleans.

"Oh my god, I'm really sorry." -she said, as soon as she bumped into someone

The young woman looked up to face the person she had run into and came across a very handsome boy.

"It's okay." - he replied, smiling gently - "I'm James."

"Maria." she smiled too.

"Maria ... it's a beautiful name." - praised - "So ... are you accompanied?"

"Not really. I just came for a walk around the festival and was already coming home."

"I have an idea. And if, instead of coming home now, you stay a little longer at the festival and ... I can keep you company." - smiled

The witch stared at the boy.

James was a normal boy, she could feel him. It had been a long time since she had interacted with normal people.

"It looks fine to me." - smiled excitedly

The young man looked at her in wonder and enthusiasm but that moment soon ended as soon as they heard a voice say:

"Well, it just doesn't seem right to me."

Maria recognized that voice immediately and turned around, facing Niklaus. He looked at James with a chilling look that made the human tremble with fear.

"Nik ..."

"You come with me, Maria." said authoritarian

"What? Why?" she asked, confused.

"Do you have to go?" james interrupted the conversation

"Nobody's talking to you!" - Klaus snarled at the boy and turned to his beloved - "Because I want to."

"You're being ridiculous!" exclaimed the wolf.

The original stared at the girl in surprise, he did not expect her to tell him that and to confront him.

"How did you ..."

"Enough! I do not want to know!"

The youngest stared at Klaus one last time, before turning to James and saying goodbye to him, apologizing for what had happened and leaving.

Maria was already far from the place, so the vampire took advantage of this to approach the human and hypnotize him.

"You will never approach Maria again and you will forget that you met her. You live your life but remind yourself that whenever you see this girl, you must ignore her. Understood?"

"Yes."

Mikaelson smiled with satisfaction and went back to the mansion, where he knew that Maria was already there.

"Hey, love." - caught her attention, as she walked down the corridor

"What do you want" - looked at him aggressively

"Are you really upset with me? The only one who should be upset here is me." - he answered.

The witch widened her eyes in surprise and turned away.

Klaus did not like this attitude at all and went to it, pulling her into his room and brutally leaning it against the wall.

"You have no reason to be like this !!" - she exclaimed

"YOU WERE FLIRTING WITH HIM !!!" shouted the original, angrily

"NO, I WAS NOT!!!"

Maria pushed Klaus and faced him.

"You're being paranoid, Klaus! Don't you understand that? I was simply trying to get along with someone who is normal!" - explained the brunette.

The vampire leaned back against the wall, cornering her and said, in a possessive voice.

"You are mine. You know that ... I will not let anyone come and try to steal what is mine."

"I'm yours?" he asked rhetorically "So prove it!"

The two looked at each other angrily and kissed each other. Klaus took the girl, which made her wrap her legs around his waist.

"Klaus ..." - she murmured, as he kissed her neck- "Make me yours, please." - pleaded

The blonde quickly went to the bed and laid her there, smiling mischievously.

"It's your first time, I'll make sure it's better than in your dreams." - gave her a peck - "You will not regret this, my love."

She laughed and pulled him in for another kiss.

"I know you don't. It will be worth it." -she smiled in love

New Orleans, 1918

"Not bad for a beginner." - said Niklaus

Klaus was teaching Maria one of his greatest passions, painting. The original loved painting and it calmed him down.

"We can say that the teacher helped." - she smiled - "What's that, Nik?"

He directed his gaze to where the youngest was pointing and looked at her again.

"It's a painting I just finished."

"Can I see him?" asked Maria, quite curious.

The vampire agreed and uncovered the painting, leaving the girl with her mouth open.

"It's me ..." - stared at the beloved - "Did you paint a picture of me?"

"Yes." - he replied - "I was thinking about the name I would give it ..."

"And you already decided?"

"Maria Mikaelson." - whispered in the witch's ear

The youngest smiled when she heard that.

"Mikaelson?"

"Yes. I intend to have my name soon." - confessed - "I do not want to lose you."

"You will never lose me, Klaus. I love you." -she smiled, embarrassed and getting a kiss in response.

New Orleans, 1919

"- Ahhhhhh !!!!!"

Maria waved her hands and all the dishes broke. The young woman was angry and destroyed everything she saw ahead.

Her magic was too powerful and she couldn't control it, especially when she was angry.

Blinded by the rage that consumed her more and more, the 16-year-old girl did not notice the arrival of the original noble and accidentally hit him with a knife in the chest.

As soon as she realized what she had done, she opened her eyes wide and ran to him, checking that everything was okay.

"Oh my god, are you okay?" -she asked her worried

"Yes." he replied, removing the knife from her chest easily "I can't say the same about you."

She did not insist on answering him and looked around, seeing the big mess she had made.

"Come." - Elijah took her hand and they sat down - "What happened for you to be so angry?"

"Klaus ..." she admitted, sighing.

"What did my brother do?" he asked, already feeling alarmed

"To summarize the story a little: he was talking to some women from high society, I was jealous, I went to talk to him, he ignored me, then he came to talk to me armed with innocent, we had a huge discussion and I may or may not him hurt and broke his neck, he got mad at me, went to these women again and left me alone, I went crazy and here we are."

Elijah listened to everything in silence and began to think. Sometimes his brother could be quite stupid, especially with Maria. This was not the first time that the couple had an argument and Maria vented to him. The nobleman had already asked Niklaus to be more careful with Maria, being quite young and powerful, he couldn't control her magic and who knows what could happen.

"My brother will come to himself and come to talk to you. When it comes to you, everything changes for him."

Maria smiled at the older man's words and gave him a big hug.

"Thank you for always being here for me, Elih. You're the best." she smiled staring at him.

"Do I interrupt anything?"

Klaus's accent made itself heard and soon all eyes went to him.

"We need to talk." - Nik said, staring at his beloved and ignoring Elijah's presence.

New Orleans, 1919

"Is everything okay, Rebekah?" - questioned the girl.

Maria felt that Rebekah had been strangely for weeks now, she just didn't know why.

"Yes, of course Maria is. Why wouldn't she be?"

At that moment the witch felt that the older one was lying to her.

"Why are you lying to me, Bekah?"

"I may have done something very bad, Mari ..." she confessed

"What are you talking about?"

"I ..." - the vampire thought for a few seconds and continued - "Never mind."

"Rebekah! First you tell me that you may have done something very bad and then you tell me to let it go ?! What is up?"

"Nothing!" - shouted the blonde, scaring the youngest - "Problems between me and Marcel, things that you don't need to know and that for your sake, it's better to continue like this."

The vampire left the room, leaving the young woman even more confused than she already was.

"What did you do, Rebekah?" she whispered to herself.

New Orleans, 1919

Maria was in Klaus's room, looking in the mirror and analyzing his clothes, while she thought.

"What do you think so much, love?" asked Klaus

"In my life and how much has changed in these 4 years ..." - she admitted, watching her companion through the mirror- "I never thought it would end here."

"This is a good thing." - he replied - "You are beside the most powerful beings in the world. Nothing bad can happen to you."

"I know, just ... I'm afraid of how things will be in the years to come."

"Let me tell you how things will be in the years to come ..." - he hugged her from behind - "We will deal with the city of New Orleans, next to Rebekah and Elijah, you will be my queen and we will spend the rest of eternity together."

Mikaelson took a necklace out of his pants pocket and put it around his lover's neck.

"It's beautiful, Nik." she smiled in delight

"Rebekah helped me choose." - He stared at the girl in the mirror - "I want to make you a vampire, make you immortal like me, spend the rest of eternity by your side ... Make you the future Mikaelson and travel the world together. There are a lot of places that I would like to take you to."

"Are you saying what I think you are saying?" she smiled at him

"Maybe ... I don't force you to do anything, you have all the time you want to think. But maybe we better go to the party."

"Sure, you're right."

New Orleans, 1919

"Klaus ... I can help. Just let me ..."

"NO!!" - shouted turning to the beloved - "You can not help. You're just a pathetic human, Maria."

Niklaus turned away, leaving and leaving the brunette surprised. She didn't think Klaus was going to say this, he knew perfectly well that she was not a "pathetic human".

Klaus entered Maria's room and found herself sleeping.

He was sorry for what he said earlier, he didn't want to be upset with the witch. She was too important for him.

Mikaelson walked over to the youngest's bed and put a paper on the table and sat down next to Maria.

He passed his hand over the girl's face, enjoying her beauty and removing the hair that fell down her face.

- I do not want you to be upset with me, Mar... You are the most important person in my life, I think I will not be able to live without you anymore, you have incredible power over me. It is thanks to you that a little humanity remains in me. You know ..." - he smiled - "I may never have told you this but ... I love you, love."

After the declaration, the vampire spent a few more minutes watching the girl while she slept but at one point he had to leave, he had scheduled a trip to the theater with his brothers.

Maria woke up with a start and a bad feeling. She felt that something very bad was going to happen soon, only she didn't know what.

When she looked around, she noticed a note sitting on the table beside the bed and picked it up, starting to read it.

"Love, first of all I apologize for writing and not saying this to you face to face, second I apologize for what I said earlier. You are not a pathetic human, you are anything but that. I don't want you to be upset with me , what I said was not felt.

My brothers and I are going to see a show at the New Orleans theater but I hope that when we get back we can talk, however please accept my apologies.

Your only love,

Klaus M. "

As annoyed as she was, Maria couldn't help but smile at her lover's note. He had apologized and seemed sorry for the note, which pleased her.

At that moment, the bad feeling that the witch had felt no longer mattered under the circumstances (little did she know what would happen next).

The hours passed and the Miakelson brothers had not yet returned to the mansion. Could that theater take that long?

Maria noticed a lot of movement in the streets of New Orleans, so she went to the balcony of her room, to try to understand what is going on.

The inhabitants of the city ran, some even screamed, all with a worried expression on their faces and the young woman was quick to understand why. A fire. A large city building was on fire and the witch's eyes widened when she realized it. It was the New Orleans theater, the one where the Mikaelson's had gone.

The girl quickly returned to the interior, left the room in a hurry and walked around the room, looking for some things.

"Let's see what I have here."

Maria stopped instantly when she heard an unknown neighbor speak, turning to look at the person. She was surprised as soon as she realized who she was.

"Mikael."

"Do you know who I am. Great."

"Of course I know. The vampire who hunts vampires." she said, staring at him.

"You are Maria, my children's friend and the one love by that bastard." he was furious "What do you see in him? He's a freak!"

"No, it's not! I see a man who cares about me and who deep down has a good heart."

"Oh, young deluded ..." he walked over to the young girl "You are so in love with him that you refuse to see what everyone sees. He is an uncontrollable beast who killed my wife, HIS OWN MOTHER!"

Mikael stabbed Maria in the belly and she fell to the floor, full of pain. Before the vampire could do anything else, the witch sent him away using magic.

At that moment, someone entered the Mikaelson room. She hoped it was one of the Originals but no ... It was Marcel. He was in a deplorable state and was sorry to look at. He went to Maria. he took the knife from her and gave her some of her blood to heal.

"Thank you, Marcel." thanked

Marcellus did not answer and fell beside Maria, quite weak.

"Marcel! But what..."

Maria was unable to finish the sentence because she was hit by a bullet and fell beside Marcel.

"Die in peace, you wretches."

It was the last thing the girl heard before she closed her eyes.

Maria suddenly opened her eyes and realized that she was not in the room. She was lying on a bed that she knew well, it was the bed in Klaus's room.

She saw Marcel, who took a deep breath when he saw her open her eyes.

"I'm glad you woke up." approached her.

Marcel was no longer better and was no longer in that horrible state.

"What happened?" she asked, visibly confused

"You died."

"What? But how..." - she stopped to argue- "You gave me your blood to heal me and Mikael killed me. I died with your blood in my system it means that ..."

"You're in transition."

The witch did not know what to think. She was in transition and didn't have that much time to decide.

"What do you want to do?" Asked the vampire

"I ... want to become a vampire, Marcel." she smiled "Where's Klaus?" - there was only silence as an answer - "Elijah? Rebekah?" she questioned again

"They left the city because of Mikael." - he said - "I already had everything checked and no sign of any Mikaelson."

"But ... Are they coming back?"

"Do not know..."

"They have to go back, Marcel! I need to know that nothing happened to them."

Maria was panicking, her breathing was out of control and her feelings were even more intense now that it was in transition.

"Maria!" - he called - "Calm down! Take it easy ... I don't know if they'll be back, the only thing we can do is wait and see what happens."

The young woman agreed and calmed down.

"New Orleans is terrible and destroyed." - commented Marcellus

"Then let's rebuild it." - she said - "We are going to recompose New Orleans and give life to this city again. Marcel, we both know that we cannot leave the city like this."

The brunette looked at the younger one seriously and nodded in agreement.

From that moment on, the two had a mission to rebuild New Orleans and bring that empire to life in the absence of the Mikaelson's.
