Back to New Orleans

New Orleans, one of the most lively cities in America. Little did people know the secrets it hide.

Years have passed since the last time Maria was in New Orleans, but now she was back in the city that had long been her home.

"What are you thinking about?" questioned Sofia.

"Nothing. I'm just ... having some memories." replied Maria, watching the crowded streets of New Orleans.

New Orleans, 1935

Breathe.

It was everything Maria needed at that moment.

Marcel was having a party at the mansion and everything was running smoothly.

Maria was enjoying the party but had suddenly been hit by a lot of feelings.

The witch needed to get some air so she decided to go to the city streets, which were also partying.

"Hey, Maria."

The supernatural recognized that voice immediately. The owner sat next to her on one of the street benches and sipped his whiskey.

They stayed in silence for a few minutes, just watching the street animation.

"I'm leaving New Orleans, Marcel." she announced, still not facing her friend.

"I understand, M." replied the vampire "Just promise me one thing."

"Anything." she turned to him.

"Promise me that you will keep in touch and that you will continue to come to New Orleans from time to time."

"I promise, Marcel." she gave him a small smile "Do you think you'll be able to run this city without me?"

"I'll have to make it. I have to keep our empire standing."

They both laughed and stood up.

"We did a good job, didn't we?" asked Maria, looking at the smiling people passing by.

"Yes, we did, Maria."

They hugged and went back inside the mansion to enjoy the rest of the party.

"What are we doing today?" asked Regina, curious.

Maria had been a little disturbed by that memory but she tried to hide it.

"Ahm ... you must be tired of the trip so maybe we better go to the house I bought, so you have time to rest and tomorrow I can show you the city."

The two humans agreed with the vampire and the three went to the house the vampire had bought.

It was a huge house, it was more like a mansion, it was a little far from the city and had a beautiful green space around it.

"Here we are. Settle down and rest. I'm going out and I shouldn't be long."

"Where are you going?"

"Find an old friend." she replied, smiling.

Maria left the house and went to a little-known cafe in town.

As soon as she entered, she immediately found the person she was looking for and headed for isr table.

"Wow ... I must admit that the years have done you good, Marcel."

"I'm still the same, M."

They gave a long hug. They both missed each other, they had been through a lot together.

After that moment, they sat down and Maria ordered a whiskey.

"So, are you still playing the king for the city? Tell me all the news."

It had been 8 years since the last time the trybrid had come to N.O and she was very excited to know what had happened in her absence.

"Mar ..." he paused "The Mikaelson's are in New Orleans."

Maria expected to hear everything but this. For several years, she had been waiting for this moment, but she ended up giving up on the idea. She never thought to see the Originals again but that moment could be near.

"They are back." she sighed "Tell me everything."

And he did. She told everything from the moment Klaus returned to New Orleans because of a witch and is now with her family at the mansion, trying to have some peaceful moments with the rest of the family.

"One daughter?" she asked, very suprised.

The brunette nodded.

Klaus being a father was something the witch never thought to see. But things have really changed over the years.

"Forgetting the Originals for a while ... Where are Thierry and Diego?"

Silence. It was all she got as an answer.

"Marcel ... Thierry and Diego?"

"They died." he said looking at the glass of his drink.

"Tell me, please, that they were not involved."

"More or less"

"How many vampires in our community have died since they returned?" asked Maria, afraid of the answer.

"There were few, but it wasn't just vampires. Remember Father Kieran?" she nodded "He died because of a witches' spell."

This was too much for the brunette. Returning to her city after 8 years and seeing all this, completely different from what she remembered, was not waiting.

"I am going." announced the visitor.

"Are you okay?" questioned Marcel worried, he knew how much this had affected his friend.

"Yeah, just ... don't tell anyone I came back."

Maria turned away and was about to leave when she felt a hand on her arm.

"You know they'll find out, right?" Marcel let go of her arm "They are not the best people in the world, they never were, but don't you think they deserve to know that you are alive and in the same city as them?"

"Marcellus ..." she started "They didn't bother looking for us so I'm definitely not going to be the one to go after them."

She barely finished speaking, left the cafe where they were, leaving Marcel standing there, not knowing what to do.

Without giving much thought about what he was about to do, the vampire took out his cell phone and dialed the number of the only person he knew could help him solve it.

"Cami, I need your help with something."

All the things that Marcel had said to him, had left his head racing.

The Mikaelson's were back.

Klaus was a father.

All of his friends from the New Orleans vampire community were dead.

She went into the house and went straight to the living room, ending up at the door, watching what was happening.

"What the hell ..." she started saying.

"Oh good, the person I expected to meet. I was seeing that you would never come, your human friends don't know how to receive a guest. Do you believe they tried to stab me?"

She alternated her gaze between her friends and her illustrious guest.

"Sofia, Regina, you better go upstairs. Our guest and I have a few things to discuss." she looked at him smiling.

"Ok ... anything screams." said Sofia

"As if you could do something." replied the man, mocking the girl.

As soon as the two went up, Maria entered the room, passing straight through her guest and helping herself to a glass of bourbon.

"To what do I owe your illustrious visit, Sebastian Vettel?"

Sebastian Vettel.

A wolf Maria had deceived 4 years ago and who wanted revenge for the death of his girlfriend, Carly.

She got involved in the group of friends of the couple, made great friends with Sebastian and in the end, killed Carly, because she tried to hand her over to hunters in the city.

"It is so good to see you after so many years." she continued, after not getting an answer "How's Carly? Oh wait ... I killed her. Opps." she smiled "Do you want some?" offered a drink

"I trusted you ..." said the wolf, after minutes without saying anything.

"Well, then you can't blame me can you? It was your mistake." took a sip of his drink "I lied. You believed. Who's the fool here?"

"How can you be so arrogant and indifferent when you killed an innocent person?" he asked, trying to control his anger.

"How can you be so brave and stupid to call a trybrid arrogant and indifferent?" she laughed at the end.

It was the last straw for Vettel.

He couldn't take it anymore and advanced on Maria, who easily dodged, making the wolf go against the glass cabinet, breaking it.

"You're too predictable, Bash. I didn't even need to meet you to know what you were going to do."

One more try.

Sebastian advanced on Maria again and failed again, this time going against the drinks table, breaking everything.

"Oh come on, Sebastian." went to him, who was on the floor "The house is new, don't destroy it now. And get rid of staining the rug with blood."

Bash managed to reach a large piece of glass and hurled it at the older one, hitting her in the chest.

But she didn't move. She removed the glass from her chest, smiled and said:

"Was that supposed to hurt?" she sent it against the floor "You're being pathetic, more than you already are. I thought you had more respect for yourself but apparently I was wrong."

He picked up his glass and walked away, turning away.

"Acting this way, no wonder nobody wants you. Your only friends are two pathetic humans who have no idea of the monster they chose to accompany." he started to get up "You will end up alone, as you were always destined to be. No wonder none of the Mikaelson's came back for you. They just wanted you out of their life and dead, preferably."

He had just touched the vampire's deepest wound and realized it when it exploded the glass in his hands. She turned to face him and did not look happy.

At vampire speed she went to him and grabbed him by the neck, kneeling him.

"You are nothing. NOTHING!" the wolf's blood started to boil and he started to sweat "It takes a lot of courage to come to my town, to my house and try to confront me, even though you know you have no chances. Your luck is that I feel merciful today and I will let you live. But next time, I may not be so nice and you might be able to meet Carly sooner than you expect."

She dropped it and looked right into her eyes.

"Leave."

And so he did. After getting himself together, Sebastian left Maria's house. He could have missed this discussion but one thing he was sure of ... That wouldn't be the last time she would hear about him. He wanted revenge and knew perfectly well what her first step would be.

Sebastian called a taxi and as soon as the taxi driver entered, he asked:

"Where, my boy?"

"French Quarter."

After fixing all the damage that Sebastian had done in her livingroom, Maria decided to go up and go to her friends.

"Okay, I have two news for you, good and bad." she said badly she entered the room where the humans were "which one do you want first?"

"The good one." replied Sofi

"The good news is that everything went well."

"What's the bad?" asked Gina

"We will need to buy some new furniture."

None of them took it and they started laughing.

Maria joined them in bed and they started talking and watching movies for the rest of the day.

It was these simple moments with her friends that made Maria feel more human, even though she knew she hadn't been for a long time.

"Tell me, Marcel, how can I help you?"

After Maria left, Marcel decided to call her friend Cami, who graduated in psychology.

He thought that perhaps the trybrid would need help to deal with the fact that it was in the same city as the Mikaelson's. And he knew that Cami was the ideal person.

"I have a friend who recently returned to the city and I think she will need your help."

"A friend? Are you sure she ia ONLY a friend?" asked the blonde suspiciously.

"For sure. She is like a sister to me and I just want to help her."

"Nice gesture on your part, Marcel. Is she supernatural?"

"Vampire." he stated.

"What is her name?"

Marcel thought for a while.

Cami knew the Originals and got along with them, she may or may not have heard stories from her friend. So he did not reveal that she is a hybrid and did not tell her her real name.

"Alexa." he smiled, trying to disguise "Can you help?"

"What is her problem?"

"Ahm ... she was abandoned by her family, at a crucial moment in her life. And although she says she doesn't care, I think that deep down she still doesn't deal with the subject very well. I don't know what she can do. Alexa has a ... complicated past."

"I'll help you. Talk to her and then call me to make an appointment with this vampire Alexa."

"Thank you, Cami."

The human smiled. She just wanted to help her friend and maybe this vampire too.

Meanwhile, at the Mikaelson Mansion, the family was gathered for dinner. It was one of the few moments of peace in the family and they haven't had one in a long time.

"Hello ?? Is anyone here ?!"

Everyone heard someone calling for them and quickly became alarmed. They headed for the entrance to the mansion where they came across a blond boy with some scratches.

Klaus wanted to jump on him for being a potential enemy but Elijah did not allow it.

"Who are you and why did you come to interrupt our family dinner?" questioned the original nobleman.

"Sebastian Vettel and I know something you will want to hear."
