Is She Alive?

Klaus was on the balcony of the Mikaelson mansion, watching the moon and drinking his whiskey, while he was lost in thought.

"Niklaus, we need ..." began Elijah entering inside

"She's dead, Elijah." interrupted the hybrid

"Nik, she ..." Rebekah said, joining the brothers

"She is dead." he repeated, without looking at them "That wolf is lying."

"How can you be so sure of that? - questioned the original nobleman

"You, like me, heard the rumors back then." klaus finally faced his family "The vampire who hunts vampires invaded the children's mansion and murdered the young witch who was there."

"We never got to see the body." said the original blonde "Let me remind you that we also thought that Marcel was dead and when we returned we found him here, quite alive, running the city."

"Think about it, Klaus. If she had really died, there was a grave with her name in the town's cemetery but no sign of it." Elijah completed "Someone may have turned her into a vam ..."

"She is dead!!" The hybrid threw the glass against the wall and joined Elijah and Rebekah inside.

"Why are you so afraid to admit that there are chances of her being alive, brother?"

"Because he's afraid." Bekah replied, staring at the blonde.

"I'm not afraid of anything." He spoke slowly and pointing his finger at his sister.

"Yes, you do." she approached him "You are afraid that she is no longer the same girl that we once knew and that she has become a monster ... like you."

Klaus grabbed Rebekah by the neck and said, looking the youngest in the eye.

"I'm not afraid of anything."

"Niklaus, let her go." ordered Elijah

The original hybrid released the blonde and went to her daughter's room, Hope, the only person capable of calming him down at that moment.

"I'm going to see Marcel." announced Elijah, tightening his suit.

"What? Why?" asked Bekah, confused

"If anyone knows anything about her being alive, it's Marcel. He has commanded our city since 1919, he will surely have the answer to our questions."

Hayley, who had arrived at the room where the blonde vampire and the original nobleman met, decided to meddle.

"Elijah, I don't think that ..."

"I have to know, Hayley."

On the other side of the Mississippi River, Maria did some shopping with Regina and Sofia.

"Why didn't we go shopping in the French Quarter?" Sofia wanted to know

"Because things on this side of the river are more varied and cheaper. Not that the last one matters but anyway ..." Maria replied, looking at some wallpapers "I promise to take you to know this area during the next days."

The vampire stared at her friend and smiled friendly, turning her attention back to the store shelves.

While Ginny and Sofi were looking for props for their new rooms, the older one was looking for a new glass cabinet, to replace the one that Sebastian left while trying to become a hero.

She felt her cell phone vibrate and as soon as she saw that name, she answered.

"Can't you live without me, Marcel? I know that many years have passed and I miss you a lot but you have to give me space." laughed a little at the end

"Good to know that you haven't lost your sense of humor." retorted the vampire on the other end of the line "I'm calling to inform you of something.

"And what would that be?" she questioned without paying much attention and evaluating one of the cabinets.

"I spoke to a human friend of mine. She has a degree in psychology and I told her about you. She agreed to help you and have a consultation with you so you can ..."

"Marcel, I appreciate your effort, but I don't need a psycho ..."

"Maria, listen!" he raised his voice "I know you say you don't need it but the truth is that I know you better than you do and I think this would do you good."

Maria hated having to give Marcellus a reason, but she herself had to admit that it might do her good to speak to this psychologist. Of course, she was too proud to say it out loud, but she ended up agreeing with the idea.

"Okay, as you like, it can be."

"I'm glad you accepted. I'll go talk to her, make an appointment and then let you know."

"Okay, Marcel. I hope it is worth it, you know that I hate to waste my time."

The other end of the line was silent for a few seconds, which was a strange thing.

"Marcel? Marcel are you there? It's all right?"

"I'll call you soon, then I'll explain."

And so the call fell. Maria was surprised by her friend's attitude, it was not something he used to do. She was worried but chose to let it go, she knew the vampire would return the call when she could speak.

"Have you decided which will be our new closet?" Regina appeared from behind, along with Sofia.

"This one looks good." she said, watching her reflection in the mirror.

Ireland, 1954

Another body on the floor.

Maria looked around, watching that large family dead on the floor of the house.

She smiled at the damage done and wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth.

She focused her attention on the last survivor, who was slowly moving away.

"Oh, don't be afraid. I promise that I will be quick and that you will see your family soon." she walked slowly towards her victim

"You are a monster !!"

"Oh dear ... they called me worse things." ran her hand over the boy's hair

"Like what?" he questioned shaking with fear

"Mikaelson."

Maria shook her head, pushing that memory away.

She had done horrible things in her past.

She was a ripper for several years. At first she started to feel guilty, that's when she decided to turn off her humanity and everything got worse.

"What are you doing here, Elijah?" asked Marcel, after putting down his cell phone.

"I need to ask you a few questions, Marcellus."

"What makes you think I'll answer?" he took a glass and filled it with his favorite drink

"Is Maria Dias alive, Marcellus?"

The brunette stopped at the Original's question. He kept his back to it and put the glass bottle down.

"Is it a statement or a question?" he tried to seem indifferent.

"A question. If it were a statement I would not be here but looking for her. Now, please answer me, Marcel." he approached him "Is Maria alive or not?"

"Why are you asking me?" took a sip of the drink, avoiding the subject.

"You commanded New Orleans since that night in 1919. I'm sure you were always up to everything that went on."

Marcel walked over to the sofa and sat down under the watchful eye of the original.

"Is she alive?" repeated the question

"Not that I know." Elijah stared "I never saw her again."

"The rumors said that Mikael had gone to the mansion and killed Maria. It is true?" sat in one of the cauldrons that was there

"They were just rumors." He paused "I went back to the mansion that night, after recovering, and I didn't see her. I looked for everything that was a song but I didn't find it. However ... I went to the theater the next day. Everything was destroyed and there were several bodies burned in that place. One of these bodies corresponded to a young woman of Maria's age, very similar to her, but it was not possible to confirm with certainty if it was really her, because she was completely burned. But that young woman was wearing the same ring that Maria wore." sighed "I made her a funeral. It is a pity that you have lost it."

Elijah looked at Marcel quite seriously, trying to assimilate everything.

"If you did a funeral ... why isn't there a grave with her name in the town cemetery?"

"Because I didn't perform the funeral at the cemetery." stared at the original "I decided to cremate that body and did the funeral in the forest, afterwards throwing its ashes into the Mississippi River."

Elijah was silent for a few seconds. Marcel's story was quite convincing but part of him wanted to believe that he was not telling the truth and the trybrid was alive.

"What do you think happened to her going to the theater?" questioned staring at the floor

"My best bet ..." put the glass on the table "...is that she noticed the fire in the theater and ran there because of you, ending up being killed by the flames."

Because of you. It was the part that echoed in the head of the man in the suit.

He got up and headed for the exit but ended up stopping in the middle and saying, still with his back to the owner of the place.

"If I find out that you are lying to me, Marcel, things may not go very well for you." and as soon as he finished his speech, he left there towards his house, where he would know he would be flooded with questions.

"Well, I think it's enough shopping for today." stated the vampire

"I agree. I never thought I would get enough of shopping." admitted Sofia

"We must have spent at least $ 1,500!" exclaimed Regina

They all laughed lightly and headed for the car. As they headed for the vehicle, they passed a group of boys, who whistled for the women.

Humans did not like this attitude and turned to answer, but were prevented from saying anything by the older woman.

"Why didn't you let us answer?"

"They deserved to hear a few things because they are harassing women on the street."

Maria sighed and stood in front of her friends when they got to the car.

"If a man whistles you, don't answer. You are women, not dogs."
