ch.12 Our First

Red's P.O.V.

"what if I refuse?" he mumbled and looked down. My eyes widened to the words coming out from him.

"Finn... that would mean you reject me as your mate" I mumbled and frowned.

I don't blame him for saying those things and I don't know if he really mean to say those. I was about to break down, but I didn't, I don't want him to see me cry so he would feel sorry for me.

I mean, I did took him here without his knowledge and this is all new to him, this is all my fault and I ruined our relationship, what am I even saying? we barely know each other and I suddenly made a selfish decision.

I shouldn't have rushed this. I walked ahead of him and I couldn't look into his face, I led him to my room in the pack house where I decided to let him stay since I don't use that room very often, I preferred my cabin for my own reasons.

We didn't said a word to each other and I just left him in my room, I was planning to talk to him, but I guess this isn't the perfect time with all this pain I felt in my chest.

I'm hurting and I don't see a wound, Finn rejected me informally and even if he rejected me properly I wouldn't know how to respond.

My emotions are mixed with anger and sadness.

I walked to my cabin and it took me 15 minutes to arrive there. My cabin was further into the woods than the rest of the cabins.

I sat on my window thinking about how Finn felt, He was afraid of me last night and I don't blame him for running away.

I frightened him, he probably think we are monsters and it's true, we are supernatural beings that actually exist.

I didn't mean to force myself into his life, but I did, because we are mates and I was so naive.

If that's what he thinks, then I don't blame him, I will have to reject him properly so he can be free, I don't want to hold on to this pain that I'm feeling and just move on.

Prophecy or not, I'm sure the Goddess will pass on this fate to someone else.

"Devon?" I mumbled.

'I'm here Red' she immediately respond. 'would you be mad at me If I reject our mate?' a tear escaped my eyes to the thought of rejecting our fated mate.

'I don't know, Red, I would probably be sad than mad, I know this is hard for you too, but we made that decision together, so whatever you decide would probably be best for our mate.'

'I'm sorry Devon' I sob.

Finn's phone vibrated and lit up, I checked his phone and there are 46 missed calls and 10 unread messages.

I should give this phone to Finn and use this chance to let him go, his mother must be worried.

I splashed water on my face and dry it on a small towel.

I went back to my room in the pack house and knocked, he didn't answer, I opened the door and it wasn't locked, and he wasn't here anymore, he left a faint scent in my room, he must've left this room not too long ago.

'Jason?' I sent a mind link to Jason since he volunteered to stay here and watch Finn while Ava went to school this morning.

'Red, what's up?' he responded 'have you seen Finn?' I asked.

'uh... yeah, he is with me' he said, 'where are you?'

'umm... I uhh, we just took a tour around the pack in my car' he sound unsure and suspicious.

'can you please tell him to meet me in my cabin?' I asked. 'yeah, sure, I'll drop him off in a few minutes.'

'thanks' I said and he cut the link. I went to my cabin immediately and waited for him.

it's been 20 minutes and he hasn't showed up, I decided to pick up my sketch book and draw a random abstract, it'll come into shape when I color it later.

5 minutes later, Finn entered my cabin, I was too consumed in my thoughts and drawing.

I looked at him and he has a bruise on his face near his lips.

"are you okay? what happened?" I ran to him and cupped his bruised cheek.

"I tripped and fell off the stairs, but I'm okay" he mumbled and forced a smile. he held my hand cupping his bruised cheek, he is lying, someone punched his face, I should ask Jason about this.

I pulled his hand and told him to sit on the couch and I went to grab an ice pack in my fridge.

He laid his head on my lap and I put the ice pack gently on his bruise, who could've done this? I swear they will regret for hurting Finn. I was filled with anger, but I failed to show it, because I don't want to scare him.

"Red?" he mumbled and looked in my eyes, "..." I tried to ignore him.

"I'm sorry" he mumbled, the pain I felt came back to me when he said those words.

"this isn't your fault Finn," I mumbled and he frowned like he regretted something.

"I dragged you into this, I should be the one to say that". I mumbled and a tear escaped my eyes once again and fell on his forehead.

he sat up and wiped he wiped my tears gently with his hands.

"I'm sorry, Finn, I will ask my father and the elder to send you home." I stood up and went to my room.

I don't want him to see me feeling hurt, I did this to myself and now someone in this pack is a threat to him, I'm making things worst for him, I shouldn't have brought him here.

He quickly followed me, "Red, wait" he grabbed my hand forcing me to turn around and face him.

He looked so apologetic and sincere. I looked at him and I felt sad for bearing him such burden.

He pulled me closer, I can't stand to see him in pain. He held my other hand on his and pulled me closer.

He suddenly leaned to kiss me and I didn't fight it, I closed my eyes as my lips brushed on his.

he pulled away and looked into my eyes again. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said those things earlier and I didn't mean it, I was just... scared" he mumbled and judging from the tone of his voice, he was being sincere.

The pain in me slowly lifted as I looked into his eyes, "I don't want to reject you, because I think I love you, Ruby Dayne Blackwood" he said it to me in a very sincere tone of his voice.

I don' know how I should react to this, but he said those words and I'm sure I wasn't dreaming.

I slammed my lips on his and put my hands on his cheeks and tiptoed to reach his height.

'hello sweety, I can't talk right now, I'm busy'

'I need to take Finn home, his mother is looking for him and we haven't contacted his mom since yesterday, she might call for help'

'very well, I already talked to him about the consequences of exposing our kind, we should be fine'

I hanged up and went back to my room, Finn was dressing up with a phone on his hand. "how did it go?" he asked.

"we can go, did you checked your phone?" I mumbled and put on my shoes. "phone's dead, mom's going to kill me"
