As soon as Sam and Chris are checked out, I send everyone to bed early, telling them they’ll need their energy tomorrow.
As soon as I’m sure they’re all sound asleep I get up to make the last few arrangements for our trip tomorrow. As I expected I find Shamus doing his round near my room.
“Shamus,” I whisper.
He looks around frantically before his eyes settle on me. “What are ye doin’ here, Em?”
I smile my sweetest smile. “I need your help with something.”
“What do ye need?” He asks looking concerned. I really hate to ask this of him.
“Tomorrow, I need you to keep my mother occupied. I need you to make sure she won’t go about looking for me or Seph or anyone else, can you do that?”
“Why would ye want ‘at?” He asks, looking at me warily. “What are ye up to?”
“The less you know, the less you need to worry about.”
“I’m not gonna do anythin’ if ye don’ tell me what ye’re gonna do,” Shamus says as he crosses his arms.
