Home Visit

I woke up with cold sweat staining my couch. Incoherent voices from the TV were muted by the ringing in my ear as I struggled to catch proper breath.

Blurred vision showed me I was in the hall as I tried to calm my heart. It took a minute to get used to my body once again.

My vision still felt heavy and my ears still rang as I tried to recollect my thoughts and memory of what had happened in the dream.

No—the nightmare.

What was that?! Who was she?!

Was she the light lady herself—angered by my unresponsive nature to whatever she had been saying all this time?

Or maybe not. They looked different. Opposite, even.

So, was she someone similar to the light lady but dark?

And what about the thing that happened to me?

I felt like a rock. Unable to move and completely under the mercy of someone else who could break me apart.
