Gilded Age: What the Good ones Leave Behind

Morning came too soon for everybody. There was a solemn sense about today.

This place, besides the quick jaunt to Casalynn and the Temple of Salvation, was the only one Sue knew. She came down the stairs to see four wolves and Ashley leaning over the stair railing, witnessing the conversation in the kitchen.

"I ain't going nowhere,'' Saylor yelled. "I was here before your daddy and after he died, Crystal!"

"Mom, if you stay here, you could die!"

"Big whoop, Crystal. You go anywhere, you could die," Saylor rebutted.

"I want to protect you!"

"You want to protect me? You can't even protect your daughter or your pack! I am not leaving! In fact, you all can just go. Get out now!"

"Mom!" Crystal shouted.

Sue glanced over the railing to the couch, where she saw her dad sitting up. She continued down the steps and squeezed through a small gap. She walked over to him. "Hey, Dad," Sue whispered.

"I'm not leaving!" Gin turned his head toward the ceiling.
