The Casalyians are a noble race, maintaining the isolation their mechanical city in the sky affords them. Their abilities and wisdom exceed those of the humans.

But sixteen-year-old Creed Angelus has applied to the Council of for permission to visit with the Humans. His goal is clear and attainable, study the humans to see if his race could live with them.

But some stand in his way. The very same council members who permitted him are now targeting him. Finding offense in his unlikely heritage, they will pursue any avenue to destroy Creed.

Crystal's voice boomed over the area. "I will volunteer!" 


Ashley, who stood beside her mother, nodded her head. It made sense for her mother to go. Ashley knew she would go with her. There was no way she would stay without her, even if Crystal demanded she do so. 


Sue glanced at the ground and bumped shoulders with Crystal. "It feels like our paths are diverging." She smiled fondly while closing her eyes. Sue tilted her head up. They have been through so much, watched each other change. Now it feels like a divide is coming. Sue took a shaky breath. Maybe it is just her anxiety. 


"I volunteer as well," said a familiar voice. 


Crystal’s and Ashley’s eyes widened. 


Crystal glared. "You," her voice wavered, "are not fully recovered!" she harshly spoke. "It will only slow us down." 


Terrence nodded. "I know, but I may be the only way of communication between the two."
