Finally, they reached the destination Anja wanted to take him–a field of pink fluffy flowers with a border of white gardenias. Anja sat down on the grass. She patted a spot right beside her. “Come, Warrior, tell me your burdens.”

Vincent stared at her for a moment. “Why?”

"Because when I saw you at the gates, you had this complex look on your face. It was a look that said a lot of things. Your posture and demeanor said I am a lost warrior.”

Anja patted the ground beside her again. Vincent pulled in his wings and laid down.

Anja raised an eyebrow. “You don’t seem like the type of man to lower your guard.”

Vincent shrugged and stretched his hand out. “I have cared for my brother since he was a child. Now he grows past me. You see, my brother, they considered him unacceptable. It seemed to never end. The treaty they wanted–the result they did not.”

Anja nodded, and she pursed her lips. "What about your parents? Are they not the ones to raise children in your culture?"
