Chapter 7- Realization

Warning: from now on in the book I shall be writing in third person due to me being a much better writer that way. Sorry for the confusion if you start reading this chapter and you're like "what?" Anyways enjoy!

"So tell us more about this symbol the principal showed you." Angely was sitting with her legs crossed on the opposite end of the bed than Garrett. The whole crew had decided they would come over to his apartment, the one that the principal paid for him to live in since he didn't have any parents that he knew of, and discuss everything that happened.

"I'm not sure how to describe it. It was like some sort of... cross formation or something, with all kinds of different lines coming out and connecting to different parts of it. I can try drawing it," Garrett responded. Since that morning he had time to calm himself and his mind and finally had his nerves under control. The whole situation was stressful on him from the very start but luckily Hawk had been there to help him through it. They sat for almost an hour in silence, just giving each other company, until Garrett finally spoke up.

"I never expected the real thing to feel like that." His body shuddered slightly as Hawk glanced over, giving his full attention to him. "I didn't even technically kill him but... it still makes me want to throw up. I feel like gagging but my muscles aren't convulsing, ya know?" Garrett looked over as his face lowered into a frown from the memory. Hawk just placed his hand on his back and rubbed it up and down. Neither of them had a response for that.

"Garrett? You paying attention?" He was brought back to focus by the words of Alex, her soft blue eyes gazing up at him from the floor next to Hawk.

"Y-yeah. Sorry just thought of something and got distracted." He noticed they had placed a pen and paper in front of him during his flashback and were now waiting patiently for him to draw the symbol. Without letting them wait any longer, he picked both the pen and paper up and quickly scribbled out a rough sketch of the symbol. "Sorry. Art isn't really my strong suit," he told them as he placed the objects down for them to look at the symbol.

Everyone was quite puzzled by what was in front of them. No one had seen the symbol before and no one could decipher its meaning, trying to reference it to a language or dialect and coming up with no results. It was infuriating. "Are you sure this is the symbol you saw?" Hawks voice was methodical and straight to the point. He didn't waste time at all trying to be gentle.

Garrett merely nodded. "I remember it clearly. This is the symbol that was on the mans jacket that the Principal showed me. There's no way I could forget it." He sighed as he ran his fingers through his hair. 'My life just got a whole lot more complicated,' he thought to himself in the brief moment of silence they were given.

Knock knock

Everyone's heads turned on a swivel towards the door of the studio apartment before they locked eyes with each other. They gave a few slight nods before Garrett jumped off the bed and briskly walked to the door. He hesitated upon opening it until Hawk was waiting on the left side of the door and turned the nob.

The door opened to reveal Nora, the blond haired girl that had just been assigned to his team as their medic. It would be an understatement to say he was surprised at her appearance, but with a stammering greeting he gave a smile. "O-oh. Hey! I didn't expect you to be visiting me tonight. I didn't even give you my address yet. How'd you get it?" His obvious nervous expression was due to the feelings she still stirred inside of him. It was just like the feeling he had this morning when he first saw her. As well as the feeling he had when he saw the symbol.

That strange familiarity that rested on his mind that told him he knew them but he just couldn't remember why or how or where from. It just settled like a soft blanket covering the rest of the emotions he had. And even though it was disconcerting to him she still gave him another feeling, a feeling that slowly made the disconcerting feeling fade as she naturally soothes him with her presence.

"Hey. Sorry I came unannounced. I asked the Principal for your address. Figured I would come by and see how you're doing." Her lips curled upwards into a soft smile that made him melt on his feet. It took all of his willpower to keep his knees from buckling as he invited her inside.

"I'm doing alright actually. Me and the crew here were actually just trying to figure out the events of this morning," he said as he motioned towards the others in the room. Angely gave Nora a suspicious look while Alex just sat there with her natural shy face. Hawk was just going about his business back in his seat as well, barely acknowledging the awkward situation.

"So Angely and Alex, this is Nora. She is the new medic on Me and Hawks team. She's a Nine-tail and whatnot." Garrett gave off an awkward smile as he did the introductions and directed Nora to take a seat in any of the chairs or on the floor near the bed they were sitting on. 'Shit Garrett. What's going on with you man? Why's this girl making you feel this way when you've only known her a few hours!?' Such a confusing time for a teenage werewolf.

"So have y'all found anything or discovered anything yet?" Nora was right to the point. No use in small talking with her.

"Actually we only know the symbol on the mans jacket. I've got a rough drawing over here for you." Garrett quickly grabbed the notebook and handed it over to her. After glancing at it for a moment her eyes darkened and she looked concerned. "What? What's the matter?" he asked her.

"I've seen this symbol before." She gently pushed a lock of her golden hair out of her face as she studied the symbol further. "I've heard rumors of some sort of organization that's been trying to destroy places like our school. I've heard that they've already bombed three of them. I don't know why they are doing it but I think it's because they just don't like mutants or something. Why else would they?" Her eyes looked up from the symbol and showed genuine worry.

'Well fuck,' Garrett thought to himself. So, a crazy organization had tried to bomb their school and he just so happened to thwart their plan only to find out they were there for people like him in the first place. 'I'm fucked.'

"Where did you see the symbol? Maybe we can use that to get some more information about this... organization or whatever they call themselves." Hawks voice came cold and calculated once again.

"I saw it at the pier on one of the boats. It was a pretty big boat so I thought it was just some rich tourist that came by for a little bit of the small town life." She seemed to be genuinely worried at this point and rightfully so. We may have just fucked with a terrorist group that wanted them dead.

Surprisingly calm Garrett spoke up. "Well here's only one way to find out. We need to go down there and examine that boat."
