The voice went on and on but I didn’t payed attention to what it was saying after those lines, I needed to get out from this place. Something touched the bottom of foot so I jumped up to avoid it and my head bumped into something that could be the door handle or I thought so.
I jumped up again this time with my hands lifted to increase the chances to grab it. I failed the first times and when I finally succeed my hand could barely cover the handle and let go. The next time I made it I was able to turn the handle down but the door didn’t move it was closed.
‘Please ...‘I said crying again. I didn’t knew why but at the moment I didn’t feel like myself.
“Anna...Annabel hold on honey...” Said a boy voice on the other side of the door, I could hear the fear in his voice “Just hold on...”
He was moving the door handle but the door was closed.
“Kenny hurry up...I’m scared” Those words came out my mouth but t was sure I didn’t intended to say so because first I didn’t knew any Kenny and my voice came out like a little girl voice’s.
“I’m here just wait a moment” He said and I hear a loud sound just as if something heavy crushed against the door but nothing happened still he repeated it again and again.
A lightning struck in the center of the room lighting up a huge fire in an enormous circular bowl. For what I could see it was a circular room, I counted seven pillar which should be upholding the ceiling the problem was that I couldn’t see it. It seem like water and strange form was swimming in it like slugs intertwined in a repugnant dance what made want to puke. Some of them fell down to the ground and changed to hooded shaped the were abnormally tall more than seven feet and they were coming right toward me.
“Kenny hurry...they are coming for me...hurry.” I said slamming the door.
“Almost there honey...I’m coming for you.” He said.
The hooded shapes were coming quickly with their hands outstretched trying to catch me I was too frightened to run away and I was already exhausted hence I just stayed their slamming at the door hoping that Kenny would open the door before they catch me.
On the other side of the door he kept charging against the door with no success and each passing seconds those figures were getting nearer to catch me.
“Quick Kenny...quiiick!” I shrieked like a banshee and pounding at the door like that could make him work harder to get me out of where I was.
“Anna...don’t fear I’m almost...” he said and I hear another loud thud against the door that time it moved a little bit more but didn’t open up.
One of them was about to catch my hand I ran in the opposite direction and I barely escape, my feet were burning like hell as well my steps were unsteady and hesitant. But the most weird thing was that my steps steps seemed shorter than usual.
The fire burning in the center of the room only casted a light glow in all the room it wasn’t obscure as before neither was it enlightened enough for me to see the entire room.
I ran left an right avoiding both who were the nearest to me but it was too late when I caught a glimpse of the third he was already upon me so I couldn’t avoid for his moist cold hands to take hold of my right hand. I wriggled my hand trying to get free unsuccessfully because his hold was too tight.
“Kenny...help...Kenny...!” I cried out loud desperately as he was dragging me toward the center of the room to where was the bowl of fire.
I tried to resist but all my attempts seemed like a beat of butterfly wings compared to the force he was using.
The boy at the door was still charging against the door but all his attempts didn’t seem to work and each second he was delayed by the closed door meant more danger for me as I was held by those things.
At the center of the room one of them pulled at a sort of crowbar on one side of the bowl of fire, the ground on one side open up and an altar emerged from the depths.
I tried to fight to get free again but it was useless I was exhausted and there were three of them stronger and quicker than me, also I was starting to feel dizzy like when one is about to feel profoundly asleep. All my body felt heavier, I was fighting against the sensation of sleepiness.
They tied my hands together in the front and did the same to my feet. I felt my body lifted into the air and placed upon the altar and covered me with a blanket that smelled like rotten iron and old mugginess.
My vision was blurred they were now just shadows looming over me mumbling some uncomprehending words. I was feeling funny hot all over my body. In the back of my mind far far away I still could hear a light thumps again the door, the last remnant of hope to be saved.
A blue sparkling light blinded me totally, they were moving in circle around mumbling, I didn’t feel anything anymore not even fear for being in the situation I was my mind was shutting down quickly reminding me to the feeling I get when I was in the river before I black out completely. I just feel at peace and wanted to be free once for all and I didn’t knew how but I was sure that it would be possible if I just close my eyes and let go but something inside me was reluctant.
I can’t, Kenny told me to hold on. I thought or it was a random thought in my mind.
A loud thud and something breaking was heard in the back, I moved my head to look toward where the cracking sound came from all I could see was a shape coming quickly holding a stick in one hand.
“Anna...” he was shouting after that said something else but I could barely hear or see him.
One of the hooded figures break the circle and came by my side and turned my head to face the blue light who was still hovering over me then I felt the pain. I’ve read in book people describing how the pain of heartbreak feels and at that moment this description was what matched better the pain I feel. It was like he has ripped open my chest with bare hands and pulled out my heart.
I intended to scream but my body didn’t responded to any order my brain sent, the pain was already so excruciating that I wonder how I still felt like it was worsening each passing second.
“Anna...” the boy shouted.
I looked at him bu I was too blinded to see anything.
“I’m sorry Kenny....” where the first words that escaped my mouth when I woke up disoriented at first not recognizing where I was but quickly realized that I was in my room on my bed and secure, I was home and nothing bad would happen to me there. The alarm clock on the bed side table showed it was midnight sharp.
I was drenched in sweat so I get to change into new pajamas, in the bathroom in the mirror I saw what was dampening my pajamas wasn’t sweat but a red, viscous liquid: blood.
‘Where did that blood came from?’ I touched over my body searching for injuries but there were none.
Anna that was how the boy called her who is she? And who is he?
I had not answer.
