Chapter Fourteen

Lisa's POV

"It's me." I heard Amanda's voice and I quickly unlocked the door and pushed it open.

"Isn't it rude for you to try and force yourself in?" I asked annoyed and came out.

"I thought it couldn't wait, a package came for you." She answered and handed me a small package. It was a white box tied with a beautiful red satin bow, I looked at it wondering who sent them to me.

"Aren't you going to open it? I want to see what's inside and know who sent them," Amanda said impatiently.

I smiled and untied the bow, I lifted the top and covered my nose immediately, Amanda also covered her nose and shifted back, a bad fragrance wafted up from the contents.

I gasped and hurriedly dropped the box, the flowers in the box were dead.

Amanda coughed and picked up the note inside the box that was stuck between the stems. Her eyes seem to widen as she read the contents.

"What's that?" I asked, I wanted to know who sent the flowers.

"There's no name." She answered and looked at the note, I looked at her face one more time before I snatched the note from her hands.

Be WARNED!

My heart seemed to beat quickly for some seconds and I wondered if it was normal to be scared. Now the only question left was who sent it?

"Who sent it?" I asked as she snatched the note from her hand and read it.

"It says Be warned." She repeatedly and I frowned.

"Of course, I know what's it says, that's not the question, who delivered the note?" I asked.

"Maybe the post office?" She asked and chuckled, I frowned at her. "Okay fine, a teenage girl came to deliver the letter, she wore a red gown, a red handbag, she actually wore a hat, the colour was...."

I interrupted. "Let me guess," she smiled. "Red."

"Absolutely correct, you should probably resign, someone wants to kill you." She suggested and I frowned.

I hissed silently. "Look, I don't mean you should resign, I'm just saying that we're both competitors and huh......"

My phone rang and I picked it hurriedly thinking it could be Alex but it wasn't. "Hello my love." He began.

"Who's this?" I asked, I could feel my heart beating rapidly. I was totally scared.

"This is no way to treat your secret admirer, did you see the beautiful flowers I sent you?" I asked.

"Beautiful or dead?" I retorted, fingers trembling.

"Actually, they're dead cause you'll be dead soon baby." He said over the phone and I drew a ragged breath.

"You're crazy, don't ever call me again."

"That's not how to talk, you should talk with politeness." He replied and James walked in.

"I don't need your dead flowers." I muttered trying to stop myself from crying.

"It's not my fault." He said and I noticed Amanda called James over and told him what was happening.

He quickly came and collected the phone from my hand. "Hey you jerk, stay away from my girl." He said angrily and cut the line.

I looked at him and managed to smile a little. "Thanks James."

"I'll try to hand this over to the cops and see if they can find a lead on who sent this flowers." He assured.

"Thanks."

I walked out of the restroom and was surprised to see Alex standing in front of me. "Alex, I was...."

He cut in. "It's really fine, I'm just glad you're safe."

We walked to my office and I smiled at him. "You're still injured, you probably shouldn't have returned back to office." I said and he smiled. A pleased expression that relaxed the tired lines on his face.

"I don't care, I just want to be here and save you."

"But you couldn't save yourself," I reminded. "I'm fine, it's just a random prank besides Valentine's coming soon." I added.

"Yeah and that reminds me, I don't have a valentine."

"Girls are out there."

"Yeah but some are special." He replied and James came out of the restroom and found us talking. I could see the anger on his face, he was angry.

"Alex, you're here, I wasn't expecting you." He said and they shook hands.

"I'll be in my office." I said and took a step forward. James dragged me back and placed his hands on my cheeks in front of Alex.

"This is childish, please stop" I whispered.

"I love you so much." He replied.

He made to kiss me and I turned my face, he kissed my cheeks and Alex also dragged me to his side, I was stuck in a love triangle.

"Alex, please don't."

He kissed my neck and I pushed him. "Valentine's ....coming .... so I'm....." He stammered.

James cut in. "Lisa, will you go out on a date with me?" He asked.

"I'll be busy." I answered and Alex grinned.

"Lisa, I don't get refused, no girl ever does that to me." He shouted in a stern voice and I could see a more evil anger.

"Stay away from her." Alex said and stood in front of me.

"And you better watch out, you won't be lucky next time." James replied and walked away.

"That's totally uncalled for, he's showed his true character, Lisa I'm happy you've seen that."

"Every man does that, it's nothing new." I said and he frowned.

"But not every man does this." He replied and kissed me. I passionately returned the kiss, I knew it was risky but I wanted to be with Alex.

Desire trembled inside me, making my insides go all sort and syrupy.

He continued kissing me and I placed my hands around his shoulders, returning the kiss passionately. I didn't know where this was leading to but I wasn't ready to do anything.

"Get a room." I heard Amanda's voice and I pushed Alex, he shifted back immediately and scratched his head nervous.

"A room, there's hardly a room in this organization." He replied jokingly.

"There's an hotel few miles from here." She reminded and I chuckled.

"You're crazy Amanda, you really are."
