C2 The Resurrection 2/2

'Afterlife' she said.

"Here you experience the cliched luxury of choosing whether you want to be reborn in the same world, go to heaven or be reincarnated to another world. Honestly, I don't want you in heaven together with us because you're annoying, so as an extra choice...-Hey! What are you doing? Don't block me with your hand! Look me in the eye when I'm talking! Listen to me!!!"

The light was too bright for me to focus on what she was saying, so I tried to block it with my hands.

As I failed to achieve my intentions backed with her endless protests, I gave up and told her what the problem was.

"Too bright! It's too bright!"

"Oh! Sorry! Daaaddd! The Divinity is too bright he says!"

"Ho Ho Ho! Wait a moment... Is this alright?"

Just as he tried to reaffirm the situation, the luster shining behind the little girl quickly dimmed, just enough for me to clearly see the beautiful little young maiden standing before me with a bright smile.

"An angel..."

Those words were not enough to describe this little girl in front of me.

Her beauty was unmatchable.

Her long blonde hair was visibly silky smooth with a circlet to keep it from swaying all over.

She had emerald green eyes.

The untainted pure white one piece dress she wore intensified her figure. She lacked both the front and the back lines that form every male's ideal girl.

She had a height two heads shorter than mine.

She was completely adorable.

A perfect kiddo angel.

"Yes yes keep praising me-What?! What did you just say? Kiddo angel!? I'm still young so I'm still growing! Besides, your opinion of me doesn't matter, as everyone in heaven adores me."

Although I knew she could read my mind I didn't try hold back on highlighting the figure of her body being similar to a grade school student's.

Just then, I thought to myself: 'This little angel is way too gullible, she fits perfectly as a little sister. I want to take her home.'

"little angel?! little sister?!"

"By the way, is this place not heaven yet? Is this place different from Earth?"

I interrupted her with a question before she could complain again.

"That's a weird question to be asking considering the situation, but I'll entertain a few of your interests, since it will be a long time until we will meet again... Earlier I already said that this is the afterlife. We really need to fix that brain of yours. Why do you ask anyway?"

"Gurk! How about the time? I read from the Holy Scriptures that time flows differently in heaven. "

"They are different and they are not. The concept of time does not apply here in the afterlife as darkness never happens here. The world is 1 year is equal to 1 day in heaven but although it's 1 day in heaven it's still 1 year in Earth term, it's just how they call it that's different. Heaven was built before the world, supposedly the term year should be 'day' but those scientists below called it 'year' and heaven didn't want to change their term as they are already used to it. So basically the Worlds, the afterlife and Heaven have the same time."

"That's complicated so I'll leave it at that. Lastly, where were you staying before you came to this place called afterlife?"

"Heaven."

"How old are you again?"

This was my original goal. As she answered my question her expression let out a wide grin.

"Eighteen days old! Heh! I'm a day older than you so treat me with more respect... Hey, Why are you looking at me like that? Eighteen days old is far from being a mature woman in heaven!... Don't look at me like that! That expression of hopelessness! Uwaaaahhh!!! Daaaddd!!! Divine punishment- *sniff -to this man!!!"

Knowing she was older than me but still had a body of a kid, I showed her the face of pity and despair mixed altogether. Which resulted in her crying to his Dad again.

I wanted to see her Dad but apparently his voice was the only available sign that signifies his existence.

Just who are these people? Are they even people to begin with?

A thought hit me. This is the after life, then obviously they were angels. At least this little girl in front of me was, but considering her age and figure she definitely lacks the qualifications of an angel.

I mean, angels are immortal beings right? So they probably lived about thousands of years and weren't actually born but created and most of what I've seen in pictures were at their 20's, so why was she so young and so small?

"Eennnggk! Wrong! I am not an angel!"

"I knew it!"

"What do you mean by that?! Just so you know angels can change their form into any shape they want! They can be a kid or a mature lady."

Angels were shapeshifters? That's new.

"If that's the case then, can you do it?"

I wanted to confirm what this little girl's identity really was. If she can't do it, then she must be either lying or she was a higher being than angels, a Goddess maybe? or just below it? Archbishop? Mehhh.

What do archbishops even do?

"I can't...do it. "

She answered in a fading tone.

She can't? Then does that mean she's lower than an angel? a maid? an errand girl?

"Errand girl? Just what do you think heaven is? The residents in heaven don't bully anyone you know! They are all kind and righteous!"

If that's not the case, then what is? This girl is really confusing me. Is she perhaps a fallen angel or something?

"I'm the daughter God Almighty! The one who stands before all! Omnipotent! Omniscient! Omnipresent! I will not stand by if you sully my presence any longer!"

Declared the young beautiful maiden in an ominous tone. And as she snapped at me, a transparent black smoke oozed out her body for a slight moment.

"eek! I'm sorry"

It was then, I knew for sure that she didn't like being called a fallen angel.

The muscles in my cheeks stiffened.

I'm really scared here I almost pissed my pants. Her adorable face was showing an angered expression but as she heard me squeal in fear it instantly switched into a tensed one.

"No no, it's my fault I didn't introduce myself properly."

Her bearing became inconsistent after her realization, from being tense to anger to fear then to a hesitant smile.

Is she conflicted?

"Yes I am, as I've told you I am the daughter of God Almighty. In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. It means before everything, God was already there. He made heaven and earth. As the child of the being who stands atop everything I am burdened with responsibilities and expectations. Inclined with that, I, who have only existed for a measly 18 years, will need to bring balance to the world's above and below in order to help him."

This is quite overwhelming. She changed her speech. It was as if she was a different person, I'll match her to be safe.

"Why are you telling me this? I am but a poor soul whose existence relies on the power of God himself. "

Was that good enough? Was that not too forced?

"Truth be told, we do not want to concern you regarding this in any way. Now, choose your fate. Live your life peacefully starting now. "

It got through!

And here I thought I was going to play a major role in the story but it looks like I don't need to worry about that any more. It sounds like they're trying to keep me away from something.

That's a relief.

I want to leave this place quickly so I should probably go to heaven? But that would make it worse. I'll see this little Goddess all the time if I go there. I don't like being reincarnated too, they'll treat me like a hero sent by God or something. Being reborn is not so bad. What should I do?

"Since you are so annoying and I too do not want to see your face as I am now. I'll give you another option. "

Another option? Great! I'll choose that then…

"You will return to your world with your memories intact and defeat the ghost that is terrorizing your city."

That sounds terrible. I'll never choose that!

An evil grin appeared on her face. A cold sweat dripped at the tip of my spine.

"No No No! please no!"

"Great! Now get going! If you manage to do that, I'll personally come to you and give you a reward fitting for a person who managed to save the remaining humans on earth from being slowly annihilated."

She waved her hand to the sky and a bright light shone at me while my body started fading.

I didn't want to accept it but it's already happening but this was actually a good thing, since I can protect my love ones at a second time.

"Don't die shitty brat!... Oh! I forgot to tell him that there are more missions coming."

That was her final words to me after she completely vanished from my sight.
