C38 Ending The Story Arc 1/2

A train of shivering thoughts passed my mind and a sweet voice rang beside me was the only thing that paused it.

"So how is she?"

I heard a familiar voice coming from beside me, speaking in a worried yet calm tone.

"She's fine she just lost a lot of blood and the fact that she hasn't eaten for days is really not helping. For now, she's still relying on this liquid with water and tube for nutrients. When she wakes up, please feed her immediately."

"Thank you Doc."

It was Fio's and some other guy's voice.

He sounded like he knows what he's saying, so I think he's a professional healer named 'Doc'.

"Oh, No. I'm not a doctor... I don't think a real doctor would advice a patient to eat immediately after just waking up."

So he's named wasn't 'Doc' but neither it was 'Doctor'...

I don't get it?

"Then... WHY THE HELL ARE YOU HERE!?"

Now the voice seemed angry...

My head hurts, it felt like two thumbs were constantly squeezing my skull specifically the part just above my ears. Also, these loud voices were making it worse.

Why are they so loud so early in the morning? Can't they speak a little more moderate when talking in front of a sleeping person?

I opened my eyes and saw Puchi leaning towards my face with her hands holding my head, squeezing it with her thumb while smiling as if making fun of me.

"What are you all smiling crazily about?"

She said.

"Isn't that supposed to be my line?"

"You're smiling too you know? I'm only smiling because of the face you were making earlier. You looked like you were confused or something. It was really funny."

"pfft! Please stop it! hahaha! You're making this situation weirder than it already is."

I was sleeping on her lap on top of a bed.

The rest of my body on the bed and my head on her lap while she was kneeling flat on the bed.

"They had no pillows left because the pool of pillows yesterday that we were supposed to use were stained with your blood. I had nothing to do because everything I did was causing disastrous miracles for them. So to stop me they made me do this since yesterday."

Since yesterday?

She's a little crazy but she's also really sweet. I mean since yesterday? Isn't that a long time?

I recalled the events prior to everything else.

She was actually nice all the time.

She and Seth went out of their way to buy me these 'contact lenses', she stayed with me when I died until I was resurrected together with Seth, she and Seth chased me with a motorcycle...

It was mostly just Seth being nice to me...

I stared at her with a blank expression after my realization so she made a confused face in return.

...But she was there whenever it happened!

Like that time she sliced me with her sword...

"Does that mean I missed lunch and dinner?!"

I paused my reminiscence to ask if there was still food left.

I was really hungry after all that sleeping and not eating for a long period of time.

"No food for Char until she fully recovers."

"But Doctor said-"

"That doctor is a quack! Don't believe a word he says!"

She said sarcastically as she knows the Doctor was still in the room, so Doctor, in response, quickly got out of the room and ran while crying:

"I'm just a driver for the real doctor! He told me to relay that to the patient because he was tired of working overtime!"

So he was an imposter! But according to him, it was true that I should eat after waking up so I stared at Fio as if to ask for food and she nodded while saying:

"It was my fault to begin with... I'll prepare the food for you personally."

After agreeing, she stood up and walked out of the room to prepare my food.

So why did he have to mention something about a real doctor wouldn't feed me directly? He was a sadist!

"Personally? Does that mean she'll cook for me?"

The way she said was a bit unsettling.

It was because I wasn't sure if Fio with her age and her lifestyle, with all the maid and chefs, could actually cook edible food. Also, my body was really weak, so even if I want to I couldn't really prepare the food myself.

"There was left over food... So don't worry too much, She'll probably heat it and serve it. By the way the maids and chefs are sleeping now so don't expect too much."

Puchi was still staring at me after all that had happened, it was really creepy earlier but now that she spoke, the chilling vibe that I felt, disappeared.

That was a sign of bad luck.

"It's unfortunate but I think this will be the end of me. Goodbye..."

As I said my farewell to Puchi, her smile earlier was gone and the mood drastically changed, from a cheerful one to a really tense one.

She averted her gaze towards the window and with a sullen expression she said:

"After this last fight, Char..."

"Yes?"

She was rather different from how she usually was so I took the initiative to not offend her in any way because I felt that it was the best action to take.

"You should go back to your world..."

*badump!

"...It's not safe for you to be here. You don't belong here."

"...'Your' world?"

I was under the assumption that we were from the same world because of the circlet she had.

It was a sign of noble ties in my world.

"Yes your world... I know that you are not from this world and I know what you came here to do... But Char, your world was designed to work like that. If you bring ideas from this world to yours, you will only bring destruction like what happened to this one. You have already seen most of what's happened to this world, right? Only a portion of this giant surface is habitable."

I thought that she was from a neighboring country with the same goal as me.

But no, she was something… greater.

"The biggest city in this world, Davao City, is the only habitable place. And it's not because of its vast land that it was able to survive... It's because it was the farthest place from where the portal to your world opened… You get it Char? You travelled all the way from the other side of the globe. You saw nothing, not a single living person nor animal was alive. And the reason for that is the ideas which you came to get… This city is only able to get by because God gave them a chance. That chance was the power in which they call being 'blessed'. Unlike your world, which people are born with, the power or the magic here comes from their faith to God... I hope you understand Char."

Those heavy words came from her mouth so casually as if she was there witnessing everything that happened, how this world had become like this. It was casual but I know it was true.

I couldn't talk back at all.

I travelled for five whole years to get here and she wants me to go back?

I only arrived here a month ago and only got to slip in the city about a week ago, although I might have brought some monsters with me. If I remember correctly, it was a... ghost? I think? But I took care of it a few days ago at some hospital. Luckily-No... Sadly, I heard one person died. The others were just injured.

Why did it have to chase me all the way inside anyway?

Leaving that behind, in just that one week, I've already learned so many incredible things from this world.

Science was especially wonderful, who knew the body was made up of bones? and inside our heads were also bones called skulls! and inside our skulls were...

I bit my lower lip in order to gain strength to talk back but only a cry of pain came out.

"Aw!"

I might have bit too hard...

*eek!

The creaking sound of the door as it opened resounded the quiet room.

"Midnight dinner is served!"

"It's only midnight?!"

I shouted.

"Yes? Why?"

Two girls walked through the big door pushing carts with bulking round metallic half spheres on top.

They looked like covers for the food.

Just how fancy was this world?

So yesterday was only a few minutes ago?

I faced Puchi who was surprised because I completely changed my attitude after they came in.

I wasn't really the kind of person to blab about such heavy things. I know she meant well but my country as I know it, is dying.

"You should eat now... Fio let's go."

She slowly lifted my head up and let it lie on a folded blanket as a replacement for her lap pillow so she could get off the bed.

"Where are you two going?"

"We're ending the story arc..."
