A Fiery Team of Four...or Eight?

The festivities were in full effect as the whole community rejoiced and celebrated with the refugees, which ultimately ended up in more women being chased off by Sayuri and Amelia as I peacefully drank my liquor off to the side. Some of the more wealthy people had actually supplied us with food and drinks for the night from their own pockets, so I was making sure to thoroughly sample their items.

Later on in the night I ended up joining the various dances and songs that were playing out with a wide smile on my face. Sam had even started to sing some solos when he had the chance, surprising me more than a little since he was actually a pretty damn good singer.

The party continued far into the morning with most people collapsed on the floor, bottles still in hand. I was talking to Mac while Sayuri and Amelia were snoozing contently off to the side. "So, do you know when you'll be leavin?" Mac asked as he took another swig of rum.

I shrugged my shoulders and said "From what I could tell, the Vanguard will most likely either send me out on some relatively easy missions, or send me straight tot he Crucible to 'sharpen' my skills." Mac nodded his head slowly as he looked into his bottle and said "Well, we'll be watchin all of your matches at the edges of our seats! I expect you to make it entertaining for us, ahehe."

I chuckled along with him and muttered "Well, I'll do my best. I need a Fireteam in order to do anything, though..." As if on cue, a large, purple circle burst into life in front of me as Wraith-1 stuck his head out and said "Yo."

I glanced at Mac and saw him nod his head before saying "Looks like finding a Fireteam won't be so hard after all..." in a low voice as he swished the contents of his bottle around. I smiled and pat the man on the shoulder before looking toward Sayuri and Amelia, saying "Hey, tell them I said I'm sorry for leaving without telling them..."

Mac's face wrinkled, making him appear several years older, as he produced a warm smile and said "Don't worry lad, I'll make sure they know..." I nodded my head and walked through the portal and came out in the Tower next to Wraith, who looked at me and asked "Was that a bad time, or...?"

I shook my head and said "No, you actually made an entrance at the perfect timing. I was just wondering when I would going back to the Tower to find a Fireteam." Wraith shrugged his shoulders and said "Well, about that. How about you join mine? I already have two others, so having you would make missions a lot easier, not to mention we could take on some of the bigger ones."

I raised my brow and issued a low 'ohh' sound before asking "Why would you want me on your team? I'm just a newbie after all..." Wraith scoffed and said "Yeah, you may be new to Guardian work, but your natural skills in combat are top notch, so who wouldn't want you on their team after seeing what I saw yesterday?"

I shook my head with a light smile before saying "Well, Sam is also apart of my team, so he naturally gets to have a choice in the matter." Sam appeared and said "Spoken like a true man, Luci! Now, I believe that I wouldn't mind joining this inferior machine since his Ghost might get lost during missions."

A small Ghost covered in black, frayed bandages, that swayed around like they had a will of their own, appeared from Wraith-1 and snorted before saying "Says the dumbass who couldn't even find his way out of a garbage bin..."

Sam squinted his eye and said "Why you li-" but was cut off by Wraith when he said "Zero, how many times have I told you to stop picking fights with others? At this rate you'll never make friends..." as he shook his head in mild exasperation.

The Ghost named Zero spun to look at Wraith and said "And I have told you countless times that I do not need friends! I live for killing, not frolicking around in a field under the setting sun!" Wraith sighed and muttered "I feel for you sometimes, my little friend."

Zero made a sound like he was clicking his tongue before disappearing inside of Wraith as the latter gestured for me to follow him. We walked down a long hallway before coming across a side door and, upon entering, we were greeted by two huge, bearded, and stupidly ripped men in heavy armor.

Wraith walked in and pointed at the man on the left, who was lounging on a black couch with a glass in hand; the man had dark black hair that was braided behind his back, two pale red eyes, and a long, braided beard with golden rings in them, and said "This is Sigbrand Grimsson, a reliable Titan and older brother to Sigwulf Grimsson, who is also a very reliable Titan." The man named Sigbrand raised his glass toward me and said "Welcome to the team, newblood!"

I nodded my head as the man named Sigwulf stood up and began to size me up. Sigwulf looked remarkably different from his brother with his short cropped, light grey hair and short, braided beard with black rings adorning it.

Wraith shook his head and said "I'd recommend you not challenge him to a duel. He was able to beat the Hunter Xetu without his shield having so much as a crack in it." Sigwulf's eyes widened as he looked back to his brother, who said "Aye, that's the same one who kicked our asses a few months back..."

Sigwulf looked back to me and asked "Are ye sure yer a newly Chosen...?" in a skeptical voice. I shook my head and said "Well, from what I can tell, I've been alive for less than a month..." Wraith glanced at me and said "Anyways, I felt he would be the perfect addition to our team since he has a sort of raw natural talent for combat."

Sigbrand laughed and said "Bah! We'll see how he holds up in the Crucible!" before downing the rest up his glass and standing up with a loud belch. Wraith looked at the two grinning brothers and asked "You're not thinking about..." Wraith's voice trailed off as Sigbrand tapped a circular device on a nearby table and spoke into it, saying "Yes, I'd like for the team Forsaken Dragons to participate in the Crucible today. Mhm. Yes that's right. Okay, thank you!"

Sigbrand hung up and looked toward Wraith before sticking his thumb up and saying "We got ourselves a match lads!"

---

I stood in a room with Wraith, Sigwulf and Sigbrand as we waited to be teleported into a Crucible match. Sam and Zero were off to the side talking to Thor, Sigwulf's Ghost, and Hel, Sigbrand's Ghost while I watched the two brothers spar to warm-up.

Sigbrand used two flaming axe's while Sigwulf used a large electrified hammer that could shoot out concentrated beams of lightning. Out of the whole Fireteam, Wraith was the only one who preferred to stay back instead of fighting with melee weapons.

Wraith tended to cloak himself in order to sneak behind the enemies and use his void bow to pick them off one by one. Needless to say, we were the bait while Wraith planned to eliminate the competition in one go.

A robotic voice came through one of the speakers mounted on the wall and said "Commencing teleportation in thirty seconds...29...28...27...26..." The voice continued to count down as out Ghost floated back to us and entered our bodies.

I brandished Sol and ran my hand over its beautiful blade as Wraith formed his bow and used the void to mask his presence completely. I walked over to Sigbrand and Sigwulf and they gave me wide, toothy grins as they rolled their shoulders and popped their necks with unveiled enthusiasm.

We had been notified shortly after Sigbrand had requested for our Fireteam to enter the Crucible that the arrangements were set and the whole match would be played live for the citizens of the City. Sigwulf looked over his shoulder at me and yelled "Let's go kick there asses and earn some glimmer!" as we were teleported somewhere entirely different from where we had been just a few moments ago.

The two brothers took off down a long stone tunnel with wild smiles on their faces. I followed after them and we soon met the opposing team. They were four men strong, just like us, with two Warlocks, a Titan, and a Hunter, all of which were using firearms.

We blocked and dodged their bullets as we closed the distance and kept them on their toes. I went after the two Warlocks as Sigbrand took the Titan and Sigwulf the Hunter. One Warlock took out a thin black staff and tapped it on the ground, summoning four small purple orbs that orbited around their back.

I slashed through the first Warlock and dodged one of the orbs from the other as I leaped around the tunnel and dodged their attacks. I had eliminated the first Warlock, but they were already on their way back according to my radar. We ended up getting a match of Skirmish, which is where you have to defeat the enemy team at the same time in order to win. (I know that's not how it is in game, but hey I make the rule here...)

I swat another orb away with the flat of my blade, redirecting it back at the Warlock and causing them to leap out of the way, before jumping up and landing on top of them. I deftly cut through the Warlocks shield before blocking a blast of fire from the other Warlock, who had just ran into the tunnel.

Sigbrand and Sigwulf were on equal footing with the other Titan and Hunter, but they still had their battle-crazed smiles on their faces as their attacks began to get faster and hit harder. I sent out a line of fire toward the Warlock with Sol as I followed behind it, giving them no time to come up with a strategy.

They attempted to keep my at bay by shooting out lightning from their hands, but I was able to use Sol to completely negate their attack as I kept pushing forward. I hit the Warlock with the flat of my blade before piercing their heart and using their body to block another purple orb.

I let the Warlocks body slide off of my blade before slamming it into the ground, causing fire to erupt around the second Warlock. The battle seemed to be going a little too easily, but I was immediately proven otherwise as the Titan and Hunter began to yell and empower their bodies with Light, pushing the two brothers back.

I tried to run over and help them, but a sudden force wrapped around my leg as a voice sounded out behind me, asking "Going somewhere...?" I turned my head and saw the first Warlock holding a sort of Void whip as they tugged it back, sending me crashing to the floor.

I rolled over and slashed the whip with Sol and flipped to my feet before trying to trap the Titan and Hunter with a fire wall, but the Warlock summoned a globe of Void energy around me, making it impossible to see outside.

Both Warlocks were now moving in to attack me with one saying "Now we're getting serious!" I had to rely on my instincts and hearing to keep from getting hit as I danced around their attacks with my eyes closed, since they would only hinder my ability to dodge. Just as the battle was beginning to turn in the opposing sides favor, a mechanical voice sounded out from an earpiece I was wearing.

"Duck."

I ducked down and felt something whizz by my head before four cries echoed out followed by four sickening thumps. I opened my eyes and the darkness faded. I looked around and saw four Void arrows sticking out from each of the enemy team's chests as Wraith uncloaked while walking toward us.

The surroundings were quiet for a moment before a booming voice echoed out, saying "WE HAVE A VICTORRRRR!!"
