Akina and I made our way toward our first class of the day, History. No one had dared to stare at us after the little accident in the library earlier, and Akina had a pep in her step with a smile on her face as she walked in front of me, her tail swaying hypnotically. I'll have to admit, even though I hated this school with a passion since it was full of stuck up rich kids, it was very clean and pleasing to look at.
The floors were made of fine marble while the walls were made of a type of black wood that looked extremely smooth and delicate, but was actually harder than steel. We reached our class and walked in through the sliding door. The class was rather large with a multilayered raised platform that had long desks that stretched to both ends of their platforms.
Akina and I walked up to the second platform, behind the first, and took our seats as the rest of the students began to pile into the room. Most students kept their distance from us, scooting to the other side of the platform, and sent some rather nasty looks our way.
I brushed off their obvious attempts at trying to provoke me as a man in his early thirties with silver hair and eyes, and a muscular build that bulged out from his white coat, walked in the class and set his book down. The room went silent before the man's deep voice rang out, saying "Good morning. Today, we will be learning about the Battle of Kaz Narzek. This battle took place on Jupiter inside of a Hive 'city', which was full of Hive trying to act like intelligent creatures, damned monsters." The teacher clicked his tongue before jotting something down in his book before continuing.
"Anyways, the legendary Lucifer Blake led the charge along with the Fang of the Reef, Caarjin Voj. The two began to massacre the Hive and had engaged the Osmium King's children, The Scarlet Knight Oryx, The Witch-Queen Savathun, and the God of War Xivu Arath, when they received back-up in the form of the four Ahamkaras that we had discussed yesterday..."
The teacher began to ramble on about his theories as to how Lucifer Blake managed to tame the King of Ahamkaras, who is rumored to still be alive today and even hinted at by Lucifer Blake's old teammates. I tuned the teacher out since I had been raised on these stories, and watched as Akina lazily rolled her pencil back and forth on the desk.
She glanced at me and threw her pencil at me in one fluid motion, barely giving me enough time to react, but I didn't let that show as I caught the pencil and rolled it between my fingers.
The teacher cleared his throat and asked "So, Mr. Blake, what are the unique properties of the Fire Blade Sol?" I turned my head to look at the man and replied "It is filled with Solar energy, making it to where it's wielder doesn't have to expend their Light to use it." in a casual tone.
For some reason I felt like an invisible force had just directed its anger towards me...
The teacher sneered toward me and continued on with his ramblings. I paid him no heed and tossed Akina her pencil before leaning back in my chair. This class was utterly boring but, since I was a student, I had to take it no matter what family I had come from.
The class ended and I lead the way toward the next class with Akina following close behind. She held her hands in front of her as she hummed a familiar tune. Our next class was something I thoroughly enjoyed, Battle Tactics. We walked into a class with a large, arena-like floor with elevated platforms all around the floor for a good view during fights.
Currently, I was in a mock Fireteam with Akina and some random Cathar guy, who practically begged to be in our team.
I took a seat in the front row and watched as the rest of the students took their seats before waiting for the teacher to put the roster together for today's test, which was a tournament. The male Cathar sat next to Akina, his brown hair covering his face as his chestnut colored ears moved back and forth.
The teacher, a lean man with pale blue skin, light purple hair, and glowing yellow eyes, tapped his foot against the floor before saying "Alright, as most of you know, today is a test day. You will be split up into your Fireteams and fight another team in a capture the flag match. The first team to bring their opponents flag back wins the match and advances up the ladder toward the finals. Those who lose their first match will have a chance to redeem themselves in a separate bracket."
He went on to explain the rules before calling up the first two competitors. One team was full of Human males, while the other had two Awoken females and one Dark Eldar male with dark purple skin, dual tone black and white hair, and two red eyes that glowed from under his bangs. (Dark Eldars are basically Dark Elves...but from Warhammer 40k.)
I'll call the Humans Team 1, while the other will be Team 2 for simplicity. Team 1 made a mad dash toward their opponents, a pretty foolish move if I have an opinion. They didn't even take the time to analyze their enemy's weaknesses, but instead just rushed in for the kill, which got them annihilated by Team 2. Wow. Looks like I didn't even have to name the teams after all...
One by one, teams were slowly called down to the arena floor and either left with confident smile or frustrated expression. It was soon my teams turn. We walked down to the arena and were met by the same asshole that Akina had clawed earlier today. He had three gnarly scars going from the top right side of his forehead all the way down to the left side of his jaw.
He was accompanied by a white haired male Cathar that had teal eyes and black rings going around his ears and tail, and his other teammate was my half-brother from the Awoken side of my family, Kiril Blake. Kiril had a large, cocky smile on his face as he looked toward Akina and whistled loudly. The white haired Cathar slapped Kiril across the face with a disgusted look before following after the blond headed boy.
They stepped in front of us and Akina immediately turned to the Cathar and asked "Why are you with this guy, Naz? I thought you had more pride than this..." in a cold voice, a small amount of bloodlust leaking from her voice. Naz sneered and said "Because he offered me money, is there any more I should say? You know of my circumstances, and this was an opportunity that I couldn't give up..."
Akina took a step back and said "So be it..." in a monotone voice before taking her katana from her inventory, its white saya gleaming in the light. Akina adopted a stance as she held her katana at her side with her other hand on its handle, ready to strike. I pulled my sword from its sheath and stared the blond haired boy in the eyes as he took out his own sword.
This academy mainly taught its students on swordsmanship, only teaching them about firearms and how to properly use them if the student applied for the class. However, it didn't seem like these three wanted to play fair...
Kiril activated a barrier made out of Void energy, to block any outside interference, before drawing his handcannon and firing a few shots toward me. I clicked my tongue and conjured a barrier of Solar energy, disintegrating the bullets in an instant before blocked the blond boy's strike.
I saw Naz pull out his own katana, its saya was white with three black rings circling around it, before a mask made of bones with a large, grotesque grin covered his lower face as two white horns jutted out from his forehead and his two canines extended out. Naz's hair became rigid and as sharp as needles as he bared his fangs.
Akina scoffed as she drew her sword, a white oni mask forming over her face as two white horns sprouted from her head before branching out, making it look like she had grown antlers. The two collided with lightning fast speed, making it somewhat hard to even keep up with. I turned my attention back to Kiril and the blond boy as my other teammate, whos name was Taji, twirled his spear around his body before pointing it at me.
It was a four versus two...
I could the teacher cursing as he furiously tried to undo the barrier, but it was too well made for him to be able to do it quickly. I back-dodged Taji's thrust before knocking blond boy's sword up. I was forced to retreat before I could do any real damage, but I was able to catch Taji and blond boy's clothes on fire with some Solar energy.
I closed in on Kiril as I deflected all of his shots until he ran out of ammo. He cursed his luck as he drew two thin daggers from his belt and blocked my overhead slash. His face was a mask of anger as he spat in my face, saying "You cocky bastard! Who do you think you are, acting like you're better than me! You're just a worthless Human who will never be able to live up to his families expectations, you filthy trash!"
I kicked Kiril below the belt, causing his complexion to turn pale, before slamming my knee into his nose, shattering it into pieces. Kiril fell onto the ground and I was already on him, beating his smug face into a bloody mess. I let all of my pent-up anger out and was left huffing and out of breath when a furious yell caught my attention.
I whipped my head around and saw blond boy holding Akina by the hair as he looked me in the eyes while slowly licking her cheek. He began to slowly walk backwards while Naz and Taji brandished their weapons as they moved in front of me.
I felt my rage double in intensity as I unleashed a massive amount of killing intent. My stare alone was enough to stop those two from attacking me as I moved past them and toward blond boy, who had pissed himself if I guessed correctly from the pungent odor. I used a trick I liked to call Void Step to appear behind him and whisper "Looks like you're all talk when it comes down to it." before plunging my sword into his side and out the other.
I went on an expedition with my father and some of my older brothers in order to clean out a group of rogue Guardians, and I ended up killing three out of the ten of them without batting an eye. It always felt weird that I was able to kill another person and not really care, but I was thankful for that at this moment.
I was thankful for the ability to eliminate the trash of this world.
