Chapter 3

Once Rathal got outside he also heard more gunshots coming from the Northeast of the town so he headed over there but once he got there the soldiers were once again found dead, all with gunshots wounds all over their bodies but one of them only had one gunshot wound on their body and it was at the head

'This is impossible, for not only our south soldiers to be killed but also our northeastern to.' Rathal thought then he looked over the bodies and noticed something else "Wait a minute, each team had three people, where's the third?" he questioned 

Vexx was waiting next to the vehicle for the other soldiers to return with their results when one soldier walked up to him "What is it soldier? did you find something?" he asked then the soldier pulled their gun out and aimed it towards Vexx "What are you doing? put that gun away, this is an order." he said then he quickly jumped out of the way right as he shot then Vexx pulled out his own gun and quickly shot the soldier's arms so they would drop their gun then he rushed at them and tackled them

"Soldier, what is wrong with you? get a hold of yourself or I'll be forced to restrain you." Vexx said but the soldier just continued to struggle 'What is wrong with her? she isn't listening to a single thing I'm saying and her eyes look almost like she's in some sort of trance, what is going on?' Vexx thought 

While he was holding the soldier down he spotted something move in the corner of his eye and once he looked he saw four other soldiers and they seemed to be just standing there and their eyes were the exact same as the soldier Vexx was holding down then all four soldiers pointed their guns at him so he quickly stood up and ran to the nearest wall just as they shot and he got hit in the shoulder right before he made it and hid behind the wall and that's also when the soldiers stopped firing so Vexx peeked around the wall and saw a hooded person walk to the back of the vehicle and enter it along with the soldiers then the vehicle drove off and that's also when Rathal appeared 

Vexx came out from behind the wall "Where were you esper?" he asked

Rathal looked over at him "I was investigating with the soldiers when some of them seemed to have been killed, I heard gunshots coming from over here so I came as fast as I could, now why is our armored truck driving off without you?" he asked 

"It seems we have another big problem on our hands, what the Gramor were coming to look for was none other than an esper and this one seems to have taken control of our soldiers." Vexx said and Rathal nodded "Bring that truck back here, we can't allow this esper to escape." he said and Rathal lifted his right arm then pulled it back forcefully which dragged the truck right back to them and he kept it there then the back door opened and the soldiers opened fire on both of them but Rathal stopped the bullets

"Esper, I know you're in there, make this easier on both of us and give up or else I'll have to get violent." Vexx said and after a minute it didn't seem like the esper would come out so Vexx sighed "I warned you." he said then the soldiers ran forward and so did Vexx

Vexx grabbed his gun and instead of shooting them he flipped it around and used it as a weapon where he grabbed one of the soldiers' guns and moved it out of the way then smacked the soldier in the head and just as another soldier ran at him to hit him with their own gun but he used his arm to block it and only winced at the pain from the gun then he punched the soldier in the stomach making them fall back then he grabbed their head and kneed them in the head knocking them out then three soldiers ran at him at the same time so Vexx quickly flipped his gun back around and shot the three soldiers in their leg which made them fall then Vexx put his gun back in its holster

"Seems like you soldiers need more training, I'll be sure to put in a request once we get back to base." Vexx said then she walked into the vehicle and saw the hooded person holding a pistol at him but he also noticed that their hands were shaking so Vexx decided to take advantage of that "Really? you're going to shoot me? did you not see what I did to the soldiers you sent at me?" he said and he could tell their hands were shaking even more then he smirked

"Let me tell you how this is going to go down esper, you are going to hesitate and at that moment I'll quickly move out of the way, take that gun and beat you to a pulp until you surrender yourself completely and not before but if you give up now then I'll only knock you out and save you from going to our hospital to get bandages so I'll ask you this right now, do you feel lucky?" Vexx said

the esper hand shook so much that they couldn't keep their aim perfectly on him so they slowly put the gun down "Alright, you win, just don't hurt me, I'll go willingly." they said 

Vexx nodded "Good, now release your hold on the soldiers." he said and the esper waved their hand and all of the soldiers were suddenly looking around confused "Anyone who can move get the cuffs out and put them on the esper." he said and one of the soldiers quickly pulled their cuffs out and cuffed the esper then Vexx pointed at Rathal

"Get the injured into the vehicle, we're heading back to base with a new weapon." Vexx said and Rathal lifted the soldiers and brought them onto the vehicle then he entered himself then they were off 

Rathal couldn't help but look at the new esper since this is his first time meeting another one like him and the esper noticed him looking and looked up at him which made him turn away

"Are you curious?" the esper asked 

Rathal looked back at them "Yes, this is my first time meeting another esper." he said

the esper nodded "It is my second time, what's your name?" they asked

"It's Rathal." Rathal said

the esper removed their hood revealing a girl who looked only sixteen years old "My name is Lilias, as you can probably tell my power is mind manipulation, what's yours?" Lilias asked

"My power is telekinesis, I can lift and move anything that's near me and even stop things in midair." Rathal said 

"That's much better than my power, I'm jealous." Lilias said 

Rathal smiled "Your power isn't that bad either, you were able to take down a lot of our own soldiers using our soldiers, clearly, you are much stronger than you appear." he said which made Lilias smile

Vexx turned back to them "Shut it espers, I need to be ready for any news on the battlefield and the last thing I want is one of you talking and distracting me." he said then he looked at Rathal "If you keep talking then I'll send you to the box." he said

"Yes sir." Rathal said and Lilias noticed him looking almost terrified then Vexx turned forward again

Lilias moved closer to Rathal "What's this box?" she asked 

Rathal shook his head "trust me, you do not want to know, to people like us, that place might as well be a living hell, just do as they tell you and avoid going there at all costs, you'll live longer." he said then he sat back and kept his mouth shut for the rest of the ride and Lilias did the same
