Pov. Asteria
I've been sitting there with Emily, just staring at the clock. It was currently 10:00 pm.
"You should start heading out," I said to Emily. I reached for the small backpack under my bed and put it on her back. I put my forehead against hers.
"See you on the other side," I walked her out towards my doors. I turned to see the guards and acted the more honest I could. "Guide her to town," I ordered, and they just bowed.
I gave Emily eyes in the assurance that everything would go smoothly. As I closed the doors, I thought of how lucky I am. I'm lucky enough to have a friend that would follow me in my craziness. A real friend, finally.
I walked towards my closet and lifted my hand towards the room with my potions. Once it opened, I pushed that wall, and there they were. I walked towards the shining weapons. I knew the essentials of how to use a gun or a sword. I reached for the big black duffle bag and started feeling it with everything I knew I would be able to carry. I grabbed a few Guns, Swords, bombs, and a bridle for one of the dragons. I knew I would be the one riding because I wouldn't let Emily ride one by herself.
Finally, I reached for the sword in the middle. My eyes were shining with emotion as this sword was once a part of me. It was made from the shell that brought me down to Elora that night. It's made of the strongest material in existence. It was indestructible. It's what kept me safe up there, now it's what will keep me safe down here and throughout all my battles.
The time to take my place will come, and this sword will be the last left of me once I die. I walked out of the weapons room to the potions. I needed to grab some things from there as well. Once I grabbed all the necessary, I walked towards where my battle close is. I kneeled and pressed one of the marble tilts, and it opened the gold coins compartment. We would need gold to survive out there.
I got up, and the compartment slowly closed. This time I open the doors for my battle clothing. The lightest clothing I could find were leggings, black boots, and a sweatshirt. As I was putting on the boots I noticed they had a heel. Damn my mother. I put clothes inside the bag for Emily as well. The food, lighters, and other essentials for survival were in Emily's bag. I also put in meat for the dragons. You don't want to know how we got all those things.
I swung the duffle bag over my shoulder, it wasn't that heavy actually. I took my sword in hand though I was about to use it. It was almost 11:30 pm. The security switch would be at 12:00 am o'clock, not a minute late.
I walked out of my room and towards the wall that guided me to the tunnels. I pushed a brick in the wall, and it opened. As I was about to step into the tunnel, I looked back. My prison. No jewelry in the world would make up the years and the things I lost in there. The things that were stolen from me. In a few hours, hopefully, I will be so far away from here no one will be able to smell my trial.
It's time to unlock my chains.
I turned around and walked into my new destiny. Right, left, left, right, down, straight, and right. Those were the turns I had to take to get as far away. I could hear the rats screeching, and I could see the spiders crawling the walls.
The watch on my wrist exactly clicked when I reached the end of the tunnel. It was 11:30 pm. Thirty more minutes tick-tock my head screamed. I looked around for the right brick, and once I saw the one that stood out the most, I pressed it. I put the hoodie of my sweatshirt over my head. It was fully dark that meant no one would be able to see me, thank the Gods I tied my hair back. My hair usually shines in the dark.
I looked down at my wrist, it was 11:45 pm, I ran faster towards the dragon field. You need to breathe Asteria, it's okay it's not like only a few people can tame a dragon. I sarcastically snapped at myself.
No guard dared come this close, so I knew they wouldn't see me. All dragons snapped their head my way as they heard a stick crack under me. I looked down and cursed at myself. That's it, I'm dying, I'm dying like a stupid. All for coming back for revenge. Why did I even think about dragons?
I looked up, and my dumb self waved at them. They snapped their heads to the right to see my hand. They hissed at me.
"It's okay, I don't want to harm you," I reached inside the bag for meat and threw it up to the one that seemed to be the leader.
He caught it between his sharp teeth. I twisted my head to the right, She? The dragon turned its head to the right, showing he/she was listening.
"I need a favor, and in exchange, I will free you all," I said.
I took out the big bridle and showed it to him/her. The dragon kneeled, and I moved to get on top of it. Before that though, I threw the rest of the meat to the children and bowed in respect to the dragon.
This was going perfect so far, no casualties, I wasn't eaten by a dragon, and no one had caught me. Everyone was about to see me escape though, I need to break the barrier that has them trapped in here.
"Please try not to kill anyone, once I break the barrier, you'll have your revenge eventually," I spoke, getting all the dragon's attention. There were at least 50 of them. "Fly as high as you can go," I whispered in the dragon's ear. "I need to be as close as possible to break the barrier."
The dragon obeyed and lifted us, so hard that I almost fell backwards. I wasn't actually using the bridle it was for, later on, so Emily had something to hold on to. The duffle bag was being carried by the dragon's claws, but my sword was in my hands. It was what I needed to open the barrier. I didn't plan on using my powers, publicly.
"Okay, I'm going to need you to go as fast as possible," he looked back at me as if I was crazy, which I was." Trust me," I screamed.
Suddenly he started picking up, and I lifted my sword waiting for the impact. I stiffened my body, not wanting to get knocked off the dragon. Suddenly we made an impact, I looked up and the sword seemed to be ripping through a strong current of water, but at the same time like the tulle of Emily's dress.
I stuck my hand through it and put the sword in the dragon's back. With all my strength I separated it like I was separating two walls. I left out a scream in rage using all my strength. Suddenly the wall started disappearing as I had opened it to, fading to non-existence. No guards were inside, as they were switching spots right this instance. When they came back to their spots we would be long gone.
"We have to make a stop right there," I pointed towards the tree, I told Emily to wait for me.
Just as the dragons were going to turn and fly in the direction I pointed, I saw the last person I wanted to see. That fucking asshole. He was standing on the balcony of his chambers, making eye contact with me.
