To Academy

"You must be exhausted by all this process. Take more rest, Max." Uncle Thompson left the house along with Jack.

'Why am I sensing 'her vibe' from max. Payne mentioned he stored his ability in the pill' he thought. 

In all this matter, only Jack saw he paused while saying something to Max.

"Dad, can I ask you something?"

"Yes, you can Jack."

"While saying something to Max, you paused for a second. Can I know why"

Thompson gave a glance at Jack. It was not a death look, but it was creepy enough to shiver him down.

"He is a different person now. If he gets to know how to use that ability, he can rule this world on his own" Thompson said with a grin on his face.

With all this stuff going on, Max is the happiest one right now.

"At least I was able to absorb one soul from jack." He said out loud.

He absorbed Jack's soul within a few seconds.

'I thought Jack would feel pain while absorbing his soul, but he doesn't feel anything, I guess.'

He never thought Jack would have a foul soul.

But he is a good friend to Max.

As he absorbed jack's soul, he got a message from system

[New message: 

Souls absorbed: 1/10]

'Now I have one soul under my control. Can I use my soul skills?' He thought 

He started to concentrate on the soul energy, which he can feel from all over his body.

Near his feet, a circle of black haze surrounded him. It looked more like a shadow. Suddenly all the black fog entered into the ground

Black mist penetrated the ground and formed a circle below his feet.

'So I can manipulate souls as I wish, now I only have one soul I need to get more souls' he thought. ' I am far stronger than a 'D-rank' ability user. I can sense the power I've gained.'

Three months later…..

'it's already been three months. I will be leaving home this time tomorrow.' He thought

In these three months, Max was unable to gain more souls. He collected only one, and it is from jack.

He doesn't have any new quest or stat points. His old quest was still going on.

Now he can control the soul more efficiently.

The next day…

"Max, remember Jack is in the same academy. 

If you ever have any problem in the academy, contact him because I won't be there to help you or protect you." Uncle Thompson said while driving.

Max didn't reply to him. Later after an hour, they reached the academy.

The academy building was bigger than the bungalow of uncle Thompson's.

Max got of the car, staring at uncle Thompson with tears in his eyes."Max, remember this, the strings are never let free. If you dare to cut them, God will punish you."

Max doesn't know how to answer "okay bye, uncle, let's meet again in the summer vacation."

"first-year students must gather at the testing grounds in the next 10 minutes." An announcement was made.

Max was still wasting his time at the entrance. In a hurry, he rushed into the testing grounds

As he was running on the ground *dash*

*crash*

Max crashed into another kid who was going into the testing ground.

The kid was holding a coffee cup. It all spilt over him. In a split second, Max covered himself using the one soul he had.

"What the hell? Pay for the coffee and my shirt you idiot." The kid grabbed Max's collar and lifted him into the air.

"I will pay. How much do you want?" Max said. He twisted the kid's hand and placed it on the ground. The kid again fell on the surface. He doesn't know what happened. But he looked as if he was stunned for a second. 

"All the students must gather in the testing ground. The program is going to start in 5 minutes" the announcement made both of them panic. They both started running towards the testing grounds.

There were so many students gathered on the testing grounds. Most of the students are orphans or from noble families.

There are fifteen noble families other than pure nobles.

"Everyone form a five-member group, make your way towards the testing centres" another announcement was made. As they instructed, everyone formed a team, and all of them entered testing centres.

"Hello all, I am professor Oliver. Headmaster of the first year department.

As you all know, every year thousands of students pass from the academy, but the students who studied in this Academy reached the top…" Oliver gave an inspiring speech to the students who came to the academy.

"Now, your testing phase will begin.

The first test is about measuring your power. You can't use your ability in this test.

The second test is about measuring your ability level.

These are the tests you are going to face right now.

If you don't have any ability, you can learn any ability from the list shown in the notice board." 

A big screen appeared in the centre of the testing ground. It shows the abilities the irregulars can learn 

Plant, earth, water, wind. These abilities are considered one of the weakest

Most of the students scored very well in their test, and most of them are in between c, d rank.

There was a big queue in front of Max's group, so they started chatting.

"Hello, my name is Xin. It's nice to meet you." a guy introduced himself.

After seeing him introduce, everyone started to do it in their group.

"I am Max Payne" Max introduced himself, and he was staring at others. Mainly he was staring at a girl who was looking very beautiful, but she had a smug on her face, and she was looking down on others

"I am Hellen. It's nice to meet you all." Hellen said. She was looking as beautiful as an angel girl. She was more friendly and talked with others.

"Why don't you introduce yourself?" Hellen asked the other girl in their group.

"I don't talk with scums." She replied with a grin on her face.

"Oh I thought you were scum. By the way, I am Ronin." The guy retorted back.

The girl put on a big smug face and started struggling to be with them as she said "Ronin, you are going to suffer for what you have said now."

No one cared about her words, and they were talking to each other 

"Sorry for what I have done early. I will pay money if you want to." Max said to Ronin 

"Don't worry. It doesn't matter anymore. Are you a conjurer or an Augmenter, and what ability do you use" Ronin asked Max with curiosity.

"I am going to take both classes, but I am interested in close combat. What ability do you use." he asked Xin, Ronin and Hellen, but he did ask the other girl due to her rude behaviour.

"I am an augmenter. I use wind ability." Xin said, and he was happy to say he is using wind ability.

"Oh, it's great. I am a conjurer. I use elemental ability" Helen said with a smile on her face.

"I'm an augmenter, and I use shadow ability." Ronin said "So you are a unique ability user. It's great. Even I use an ability similar to shadow" Max said 

"Ability similar to shadow?" Everyone shouted in his group and started looking at him.
