Rebirth of A heartless empress

       Axis groaned as he covered his head with his pillow, " Can we not do this in the morning Archie "? Archie seemed teary eyed as he stood in front of Axis with his pillow to his chest, " But I can't sleep ".


    Axis sighed as he sat up in bed, " Really? now I can't sleep either ". Archie pulled at his fingers, " I'm sorry, I would have bothered mother or Uncle Lu but this is how it is ". He raised an eyebrow as he pointed at Bonsi who was still peacefully asleep, " She's right there ". 


    Archie tilted his head to the side, " Mother isn't very good at listening after dark. You of all people should know that ". Axis smiled as he picked him up [ Was he always so sarcastic? ] " Not that I didn't know but... she isn't "?  


    Archie nodded, climbing on to the bed " Yeah. August says it's like plants, they're just more active and vibrant during the day ". Axis nodded slowly, glancing at Bonsi [ How do a bunch of kids know more about my wife than I do? ] 


     Archie settled against Axis chest and played with his long fingers happily, " Now that we're both awake, let's talk ". Axis couldn't help but laugh at what he said, " Really, about what? Where'd you even get the idea "? 


     He looked up at him, " Mario. He says you should say what you think sometimes ". He suddenly lowered his voice, " Between you and me, I don't think he takes his own advice. Doesn't make it any less effective though ". 


       Axis nodded, " Now that I think about, we've never talked like this before. I wonder why "? Archie suddenly held out his palm, putting down a finger as he spoke " You're always busy, Grandmother doesn't like the idea much and a couple of other things ". 


     Again he nodded slowly, " Is that all you wanted to talk about "? Archie shook his head, playing with Axis' long fingers " Not really. I was just so worried about Sister Qidu that I couldn't sleep ". 


    Axis hummed lightly, " Surprisingly, You're not the only one ". Archie suddenly pouted, looking up at him again " That's not really true. You're only worried about the demons you assigned to her ". 


     He was left speechless by him but managed to speak, " How did you even know about that "? Archie pointed at his eyes, " You seem to forget I'm still half demon. She's the only one I've ever met without a demon. Plus, your personalities don't really get along so it's strange when you put up with her antics ". 


     He smiled, ruffling his hair " Were you always so smart "? Archie laughed, using his hands to cover the hand on his head " Of course, I just never had any reason to show it ". Axis suddenly rested his chin on Archie's head, " If you're so worried about her, we can visit in the morning ". 


       Archie nodded, already dozing off " Awesome. Nathaniel was right ". Axis reduced his voice as he carried him [ Which one's Nathaniel? ] " What did he say "? Archie's voice went even lower, " Sister Qidu is really one of the best things to happen to me ".


    He fell asleep almost immediately after that and Axis lay him in their bed, lying back down he studied Bonsi's sleeping face. He'd never actually taken the time to think much of her sleep schedule, she was always asleep and awake first. 


     With their duties so far apart, they barely ever had any reason to see each other. In fact, the little time they did spend together was with Archie. Smoothing back her hair, he smiled to himself " She's trouble....but good trouble ".
