Chapter Four - Help Her Come Out Of Her Shell.

"What do you mean by that? He... He broke up with you? W.. Why?"

"Why? Are you really asking me that? You saw me with a guy yesterday and for your selfish interest you decided to tell him? Do you think he'll date you? No, tell me!"

"Agatha, you have to believe me. Yes, I... I have a crush on Andrew but I wouldn't dare do something like that. I'm not that selfish. You're my friend, I've never for once thought of doing something like that to you before, I didn't tell Andrew anything, you got this all wrong there's a misunderstanding."

"Misunderstanding? Can you even hear yourself? I'm your friend? If you took me as your friend and if you really cared so much about me then you wouldn't have fallen in love with someone you know I like."

"Agatha please...

"No, don't give me the I didn't tell him anything bullshit. I should have known you had this in you. After many years of friendship, this is how you break it?"

"Break it? Agatha, you don't even...

"No! Just spare me the crap talk, I don't wanna see your face ever again you backstabbing bitch!"

I stood rooted on a spot. Agatha just called me a bitch? Did she just...

A forceful push snapped me out of my dazed moment. Her his echoed as she stumped out of my room. No, even if our friendship is going to end, it shouldn't end on a misunderstanding.

I immediately followed her, calling her name but she didn't take a single glance back.

"Agatha wait!"

I grabbed her hand, stopping her from stepping outside the gate. She yanked her hand away from mine forcefully, causing me to fall down on the ground, scratching my knees in the process. I gave a slight wince and stood up from the ground, ignoring the pain on my knees.

"Agatha, even if you're gonna end our friendship, I have to make things clear. Did Andrew tell you I was the one that told him about the guy you were with yesterday? Or did someone else tell you? I'm asking this because I don't know anything about what you're saying. I don't even have Andrew's number, nor his house address. What am I gonna gain from ruining my friend's relationship? I admit I have feelings for Andrew but I'm not that desperate to go to that length just so he can date me. Look, Agatha...

I took her hand in mine but what she did next shocked me to the bone. She yanked her hand away from mine and spit on my face. My eyes closed on their own accord as she did that. I kept my eyes closed as she poured out mean, wicked and heartless words from her mouth.

"Listen and listen good Abigail. You are a desperate bitch and that's all that matters. Who else would have told Andrew if not you? You were the only one that saw me and you also have feelings for him. More reasons for me to believe you told him. I don't care about hour explanation and I don't even wanna listen to them. From today, you're no longer my friend. And by the way, just because Andrew and I are broken up doesn't mean you have a chance. I mean, look at me, he dates girls of my league. He doesn't want some old looking, boring and dumb grandma for a girlfriend. I hope you don't embarrass yourself and ask him out. If you do, I hope he rejects you in the worst possible way."

I heard her retreating steps. I stood there, with my eyes still closed. My heart was shattered to a million pieces by hee heart piercing words. My fists are clenched in anger and my bottom lip was between my teeth to stop me from tearing up. I've never been so humiliated this much in my life!

I sniffed back the tears that were threatening to fall and I finally opened my eyes. I turned, without a word, and went back into the house. I met Jasmine in the middle of the living room with her arms wrapped round her chest and a deep frown on her face. She turned to my side immediately she heard the door close.

She stumped before me in anger and dropped her arms.

"When exactly are you gonna stop acting dumb?"

I didn't give any answer to her unexpected question.

"I'm sorry if I'm sounding rude but you're acting dumb and I don't like it. Why did you have to explain yourself like that huh? Who the hell is she to call you a bitch or embarrass you like that? Wasn't Andrew bound to know about her escapades? You've been in that toxic friendship for over 2 years now and you've never ever called her out for her stupid and bullshit attitude. You accept faults for things you don't do, you apologize even if she's wrong. Now that the friendship has finally come to an end, you let her seem like a boss. Now she'll be feeling so good about herself. Why didn't you stand up to her? Why? You've always been like this, you should have poured out every...

"Jasmine not now...

"No, let me talk! I'm stating facts here. Sis, you should really change this your gentle and quite way of life. Sometimes you have to go wild on some people. You don't have to be always... Hey! Sis! I'm not done! Walking away while someone is having a conversation with you is wrong! Sis come....

I banged my door close, blocking whatever she was gonna say next from my hearing. With quivering lips, I walked to my bed and fell on it. Burying my head in my pillow as I cried. I'm crying because I was just ridiculed by my so called friend and also because I've finally realized how much of a fool I have become over the past few years. I presented myself as an idiot and Agatha took advantage of that. I remember the day she and I saw Andrew for the first time. I remember me saying : "Wow, He's so handsome, what I wish I date a guy like him in the future."

Agatha replied saying: "Who guy would ask you out? You look like an old grandma. Guys like him ask out stylish girls like me."

I remember us laughing her statement off when she said she was joking. That she didn't really mean she said and I believed her. I thought to myself that day : "Agatha is my best friend, she couldn't possible have meant that."  But I guess I was wrong. She really meant it!

•MONDAY•

I didn't really wanna come to school today but I had to anyways because I couldn't give my dad a perfect excuse to skip school. I took a deep breath in as I stepped into the class. The first person my eyes met with was Agatha. She gave me a very menacing glare before she looked away.

I swallowed into nothing before I went to take my seat. My eyes unconsciously went to Andrew and I sighed at how void he looked. He didn't look happy, nor sad. He was just void of all emotions. His head was slightly bowed. Poor guy, he really loved Agatha but she decided to play with the guy's heart. After everything Andrew has done for her.

"Hi Agatha."

A guy greeted Agatha and she gave a simple nod. A girl beside Agatha gave a mocking laugh before speaking.

"Come on Sebastian, Agatha can't notice you. She's taken remember?"

That statement made Andrew to turn his attention to the girl.

"What did you just say?" He asked lowly and she girl shrugged.

"What? Do you want Seb to steal your girl? Tch!"

"Girl?" He scoffed. "I don't have one. She ain't my girl"

He looked into Agatha's eyes as he said this. The tension in the class grew so thick that the sharpest knife in the world can't cut through it. Everywhere was dead silent until a guy spoke.

"What? You guys broke up?" The guy exclaimed and Andrew left the class without a word.

"Why? Did you guys have a fight?" Another girl asked

"N..no..we um...we just decided to end things." Agatha said uneasily. I turned my attention away from them and placed my head on my locker trying to ignore whatever was happening around me.

•PRESENT DAY•

And that was how my friendship with toxic Agatha but now she's back again? For what exactly? She's bad news. I don't care what she came back to do but I'm sure aren't the Agatha of two years ago. I'm no more a puppet or an idiotic human being. She tries to act like the old days and I'll show her the new me.

•AT ADRIAN'S HOUSE•

Adrian, Andrew, Emily and Zee were all seated in the living room, having a nice afternoon chat. Well, all of them except Andrew because he seemed to be in a deep thought. His low chuckled made the rest of the squad to turn their attention to him. They all couldn't help but raise their brows at him. Andrew has a cheesy smile plastered on his face his index finger trailing his pink juicy lips.

"What's with the creepy smile?" Emily asked, snapping Andrew out of his thoughts. Andrew turned to face his friends and he looked at them with an expression filled with millions of questions.

"You guys know Abigail right?" Andrew asked

"Who?" Adrian asked.

"Abigail Howard."

"Ooh, Mr. George's pet." Zee joined the conversation.

"Pet indeed, what about her? Why are you asking about her all of a sudden?" Emily asked, flipping the page of the book she was reading.

"Well, I got to speak to her yesterday. I told you guys I took someone else's bag home right?"

"Yeah"

"Abigail was that's person. We mistakenly exchanged our bags and she gave me back after closing. The thing is, she seemed so...

Andrew trailed off, searching for the right words to use.

"Interesting." Andrew said with a smirk and Adrian gave a long whistle.

Adrian knows his best friend more than anyone in the world. There's no way Andrew would find a girl interesting and not have any other motive. What's making him surprised is that... Why would his friend be interested in Abigail Howard? She's this quiet girl that lives in her own ting world. She doesn't relate with anyone in school, she isn't stylish, in short, she's not Andrew's type of girl so what could be so interesting about her?

"Don't give me that look Adrian, I just find her interesting that's all. "

"I never said anything Drew." Adrian said with furrowed eyebrows and Zee chuckled.

"Do you guys know she was a friend of Agatha's?" Andrew asked

"Really?"

"Yes, back then, I do see them together. They don't really talk while in school but I see them together sometimes."

"Hmm... First time I'm hearing that."

"Enough with the Abigail talk, you guys, Next week is my racing tournament." Zee said and Adrian clapped his hand like he just remembered something.

"Damn! I almost forgot, I had it marked on my calendar. So who are you racing with?"Adrian asked

"Isn't the great Kris going to be there?" Emily asked and Zee rolled her eyes. It seems Zee isn't really a fan of this "Kris" guy.

Andrew seemed to have left planet earth to pluto as he didn't seem to pay attention to any thing his friends were discussing about. His head was occupied by the thoughts of one person. Abigail Howard.

Andrew felt like he should know her better. He doesn't know why he just finds her interesting. From afar, she seemed like a quiet little girl that won't even say a word if she's being picked on but after seeing how she was ready to spank him yesterday spoke otherwise about her.

To him, she seemed like a person who has a lot of fun characters but they are all kept inside hee because she hasn't seen someone she's really comfortable with enough to unlock those characters from their cage.

In his heart he decided that he would, from now on, become Abigail Howard's friend. He knows it won't be an easy task but he's ready to take up the challenge and help Abigail Howard come out of her shell.
