Chapter Five

"Sis, sis wake up."

"Hmm? Just three minutes more please. Just three"

"Get your ass up, it's 6 am dummy!"

My eyes snapped open as the voice said that. I turned my sleepy face to the owner of the voice and I groaned.

"Jasmine just let me rest in peace."

"So you can get to school late? Come on, let's prepare for school."

"Fine fine. I'll be out in a sec."

"Kay kay."

I heard the door close and I rubbed my eyes with the back of my palm. I slept really late yesterday. I think I slept 1 am. What was I doing all night? I was reading comics on webtoon. I'm super addicted to comics so it's no surprise I slept that late. Unwillingly, I sat up from the bed and stretched. I stood up and stood on a spot, my eyes were closing little by little but Kelly's voice snapped me awake.

"Sis, come on!"

"Fine, I'm coming." I said in a sleepy voice. I dragged my feet to my bathroom and started preparing for school.

======

I got to school some minutes after 8 am. I'm still very tired and I just wanna find some place to sleep. I got to class and dragged my tired self to my seat. I slumped on my chair and groaned. Why do we have to come to school five days a week? Imagine! A young child is to go to school for five days in seven days that's in a week. We have just 2 days to rest at home. Two days aren't enough gosh!

I didn't bother to put my bag on the shelf because I was so tired, so I just placed it on the floor beside me.

I was almost dozing off when I felt a tap on my arm. I raised my head up unwillingly, ready to snap at the creature that woke up up from my peaceful slumber. But all my sleep vanished when my face met with the creature. I blinked rapidly to clear my blurry view and his face became clearer. His face was really close that I could feel his breath on my face.

"No good morning?"

His perfect dentition came into view as he smiled. I almost gaped. I cleared my throat and pushed him away slightly. He deep chuckle erupted and I forced myself to look away from him.

"What? I was just trying to be polite. So I came to  greet you a good morning."

"S..since when have we started greeting each other good morning?"

"I don't know." He replied with a shrug. I rolled my eyes and proceeded to place my head back on the locker but he drew my head back up.

"I won't leave until I hear you say good morning."

"Just leave."

"Come on, say good morning." He whined, tugging the sleeve on my blazer like a little boy begging his mum for ice cream. I sighed tiredly and looked up to his face.

"Fine, good morning."

His lips stretched to a smile as I said that. He closed his eyes and spread his arms as he breathed in like he just received an anointing from God.

"Dude, you sure you're okay?" Adrian, who was beside Zee asked. Causing Zee to also turn hee head to my direction. I quickly looked away and faced the front.

"I'm more than okay. Abigail just greeted me good morning, her good  morning is like a blessing from above."

His statement earned some stares and oohs from several people. What is this dude trying to do exactly? He turned to face me with a smile and what he did shocked me to the bone. He pinched my cheek like I was some little girl and he patted my hair.

"You're my friend now."

"Hmm, Drew the smooth guy, I like it!" Jackson said with a wink and I face palmed myself.

"Just go please." I said through gritted teeth and he gave me a taunting smirk. He went to his seat and I let out the air I didn't know I've been holding in. He wiggled his brow at me and I groaned before looking away from his face. There was no teacher in class so the class was a bit noisy. The perpetual noise makers were doing their job so well.

All of a sudden, the class which was once erupting with noise died down in a second. I was about looking for the source of the sudden calmness when my eyes met with hers. So she wasn't joking when she said she was coming back. Everybody except me stared at her in surprise as she walked further into the class. She had an innocent smile plastered on her face. The innocent smile that can turn anyone into a fool in a second.

She greeted some of her old friends and I couldn't help but take a little glance at Andrew. He had that particular void emotion that he had on one year ago when he declared Agatha as "not his girl."

He was looking straight ahead with his arms folded. He seemed as if he was irritated by her presence. Unexpectedly, his head turned to my direction and his eyes met mine before I could turn away. His void face was replaced with his signature cheesy smile and I shook my head.

My head turned to where Agatha was sitting and I  scoffed mentally. She just had to seat opposite him! There's an empty seat behind Zina and Jackson. Why did she choose the one behind Andrew? Can she be anymore annoying? Why am I even bothered about where she seats? It's Andrew's problem to deal with not mine. I turned my attention to my book and our homeroom teacher came in just immediately.

"Good morning Mr. George." We all chorused.

"Good morning guys. Had a great weekend?"

"Yes."

"Okay, so we have a new face among us today. Well, not really a new face. Agatha welcome back."

"Thank you Mr. George." Agatha said politely and I scoffed at how mannered she sounded.

"We all missed you." Mr. George said and I gave a "what?" Look. Missed who? Her?

"I didn't." Zee said and Mr. George chuckled.

"Anyways, good to have you back Agatha."

"It's good be back Mr. George."

"So, class attendance, you hear your name you reply with a "present." Got it?"

"Okay"

"Now, Becky Steve."

"Present sir..."

.

He called a total number of 12 students and we all answered present except for one guy, Xavier. Xavier is the quiet guy of our class. Compared to other guys, He's shorter and more reserved. He has a really cute face and some feminine features. Like his eyes, they are like the ones of a female. His fingers too. He looks like those anime characters. Veeery cute a boy.

He doesn't row with the other guys and girls. He's like me in someway. Adrian gave him the nickname, chipmunk because of his cuteness. So most teachers and even students call him chipmunk and he doesn't seem to mind. He's just so quiet.

=====

After, Mr. George left, the class went to the way it was before Agatha came in. Agatha was having a talk with her friends or should I say minions.

The maths teacher came in after some minutes and we all groaned as he stepped in with his Palazzo trousers and his oversized shirt neatly tucked in. This man is the most annoying teacher on the planet. I wonder how and why Harvard High employed him as a teacher. He derives pleasure in annoying a person and he goes overboard sometimes.

And also, he sees himself as "I can do it all." I remember one time we during sports day, Mr. George was wowing us with his push-ups. Mr. George did up to 50 with no break. Mr. Kent, the annoying maths teacher came in, boasting that he could do 250 push-ups with no break. It sounds like a lie but believe me, he has said and did a lot of things that seem so out of this world.

His wife is actually teaching in Harvard High too. His wife is our Chemistry teacher. Sometimes I wonder what Mrs. Kent saw in him that made her marry him. I just can't seem to understand what she saw exactly. He's not fashionable, he's super annoying, he's super boastful and boring.

Throughout Maths class, I was in another planet entirely. We all were. Andrew placed his head on his desk as soon as he saw Mr. Kent come in. Nobody likes this man except a few.

After the first three periods, the bell jingled signifying the beginning of the short break. I left the class and went to the restroom to wash my face because I was feeling kinda sleepy.

I got to the restroom, went to a wash hand basin and opened the tap. I washed my face for almost three minutes before I switched off the tap. The dried my face with the towel provided and proceeded to leave but I stopped on my tracks when Agatha came in. I didn't want to have any sort of conversation with her so I proceeded to walk away but her voice stopped me.

"Since when did you and Andrew start exchanging smiles?" She asked with a deep frown and I raised my brow. What kind of question is that exactly?

"Can't you answer?!"

"Look, Agatha, this is your first day in school so don't cause a scene and embarrass yourself. I came in here for a purpose and now I'm done so please, just don't aggravate me this morning."

"Wow, you finally got some nerves? People do change don't they?"

I ignored her stupid question and walked out on her . I've said it before and I'll say it again. This time, I'm not gonna be treated like a puppet!

I proceeded to the mini mart to get some snacks. I got a bar of KitKat and a can of soda. I went to the school garden and laid on the grass. I ate my snacks in peace and quiet. After ten minutes, I stood up from the grass and left the garden. I went to the cafeteria to get a cup of latte. I got there but today, the cafeteria was a bit crowded. Maybe I'll come back long break. I was about to turn back when I collided with a body.

"Gosh, are you okay?" The feminine voice asked and I nodded with one of my eyes closed. The person helped me up and I was about to thank the person but stopped when I saw the face of the person.

"Oh, it's Andrew's new friend." She said with amusement and I gave a small smile.

"I'm...I'm not...we are not really friends."

"Oh come on Abigail, are you denying me now?" Andrew's voice boomed from behind and I turned. He was approaching with Adrian beside him.

"Denying? What are you...you came out of nowhere and declared us friends, who does that?"

"Oh, so you want a grand declaration?"

"That's...that was not what I...ugh!" I face palmed myself. This guy!

"You guys are so cute." Emily cooed

"I know right?"

I nudged Andrew by the side and he feigned hurt

"I'm..gonna go now ."

"Hey come on, have lunch with us." Adrian said and I widened my eyes. Have lunch with them? No way!

"No, I don't think that's...

"Come on, it's see this as a gift hmm? Let me buy you lunch."

"Andrew let me..

"Shhhh...

Before I could say anything, he hung his arm round my neck and drew me along with him. Emily and Adrian trailed behind us and I felt like entering the ground as all eyes shifted to me.

"Oh my gosh isn't that Abby?"

"What is she doing all wrapped up with Andrew?"

"I heard he suddenly declared her as his friend this morning."

"Really? Wow."

Different whispers from different individuals. I pushed Andrew's arm away from my neck and cleared my throat. He pulled out a chair for me and I sat down uneasily. Adrian and Emily also pulled out thier seats and sat. There was an empty seat so I concluded it must me for Zee. Just as I thought about that, Zee came approaching us.

"So you guys decided not to invite me to your little get together?"

"Just get over here."

She finally got to us and took her seat. She turned her head to me and gave a small smile.

"Xup?"

"I'm..f..fine"

"Let me go get our lunch. Adrian, you're coming with me. So Emily, Zee, the usual order and Abigail...what do you want for lunch?" Andrew asked and I took my lips in before answering in a low voice.

"A.. anything is fine."

"Hmm, okay. Dude let's go."

Adrian and Andrew left to get our lunches and I was trying to figure out what exactly I'm supposed to do while we wait for them to come. I buried my head in my palms and ran my hands up my hair.

"So, Abby, how did you and Andrew meet?" Zee asked. I was taken aback for a second but I comported myself.

"Um...we switched our bags by mistake and we switched them back yesterday. That's all." I said simply and Emily gave a small laugh.

"That's all? That was all it took for Andrew to be interested in you?" Zee asked and I gasped.

"Interested? No no, don't get all these wrong. Andrew is just my...my... We are not even friends, he just declared that out of the blue. No one is interested in anyone."

I rushed my words out and they both stared at me with astonishment.

"You seem fun." Emily said and I smiled.

Andrew Interested in me? Interested my foot!

The guys finally returned with our foods. Andrew got me a hamburger and a cup of caramel latte. How did he know my favourite lunch combo?

"Thanks." I said to him and he winked.

"Well, let's eat people."

And that was how I ended up having lunch with Andrew and his squad. I gotta say, they are quite fun to have lunch with.
