Chapter Seven

I chocked on my spit as I heard that particular sentence. I coughed for a really long time, beating my chest to stop me from chocking.

"Are you okay?"

He asked in a worried voice. I wanted to talk but my coughing didn't let me. Emily rushed to my side and passed me a water bottle. Andrew patted my back soothingly as I drank from the bottle. I'm not still sure if I heard what Andrew said right. He didn't ask that right? He didn't just ask me to be his...oh my gosh! I can't even say it. It's probably my imagination because I tend to think about crazy things when I'm around him. I was still giving little coughs after drinking from the bottle .

"Hey, calm down, just calm down. Damn! You're breathing so heavily. How did you even end up choking? What were you eating?" Emily asked. I kept my palm on my chest, trying to regulate my breathing. Emily continued to rub my back as I calmed down. Andrew's face held a worried look as he watched me. I finally got hold of my breathing and thanked Emily.

"Thanks for the water."

"You're welcome." She winked at me and went back to her seat. My head turned slowly away from her to face Andrew. I just didn't know what to say. Should I ask him to repeat what he said? Or should I just act as if I didn't hear anything he said? Wouldn't it be awkward? But I don't what things to be awkward between us, we just started being..friends?

"Why did you begin to choke all of a sudden?" He asked

"I don't know. I just started to. Maybe because I was talking too fast."

"Oh...

"Yeah."

We went silent for sometime. When I saw his lips part like he was about to say something, I quickly stood up and cleared my throat.

"I...I need to go to the um... Restroom."

"Ok, when you..

I didn't wait for him to finish what he was about to say before I rushed out of the class. I ran to the bathroom and shut the door behind me as I got in. I entered one of the vacant toilets and sat on the WC. My breathing was hard and my heartbeat was beating wildly. If I had stayed one more minute in the class with him, I'm sure he would have heard how loud and wild my heart was beating. Why would he say something like that so confidently out if the blue? Does he think I have control over my heart?

"Abigail, be my girlfriend."

I remembered his words and I held my head. Eish! Why am I remembering that? Why? Okay, Abby, get hold of yourself. Just go back to class, act as if you didn't hear what he said and relate with him normally. Yes, I can do that...right? Yes I can.

I stood up from the WC, my face held a confident look as I exited the restroom.

A teacher was already in class when I got in.

"Miss Abigail, whey are you just coming?" The teacher asked

"I had a little stomach upset so I had to visit the toilet."

She nodded in affirmation and I breathed out before going to my seat.

"Are you okay?" I heard Andrew ask and I turned to face him.

"Yeah."

I replied with a nod and he smiled before facing his front

Andrew's POV

She gave a reply to my question and I gave a small smile before facing front. I'm trying to notice if she would act differently around me due to what I asked some minutes ago. After me telling Agatha that I had a girlfriend, I was thinking of who exactly I could use as a fake one just to spite her. And then, as I got in, the perfect candidate's face was the first thing I saw. Abigail Howard fits right into character.

Firstly, she's Agatha's ex - best friend and it would really anger Agatha if she found out that her former best friend was my new girlfriend. Secondly, she's the only one that I'm sure won't go overboard. I have a lot of girls that would be willing to be my fake girlfriend but most of them would just abuse the opportunity and go overboard. But in the case of Abby, I noticed that she isn't as loud as other girls and she also isn't a showoff making her the best fake girlfriend to have.

I wanted to see her reaction if I asked her out and let's just say... I didn't get the reaction I wish she would have shown. Yes, her reaction was kinda expected because I suddenly declared us as friends and she's still not that cool with it and now, out if the blue, I'm asking her out? She would definitely be shocked and bewildered. She expressed her shock in the most obvious way possible. I can't believe she chocked. Hahaha.

The teaching going on in the class right now isn't interesting at all. Of all subjects, it's Further Maths I detest most. I try all my possible best to pass it but all I always get is a "C." Maybe because I don't really like the teacher in the first place. Mrs. Smith, our Further Maths teacher can be really annoying and vexing. She's like the twin sister of Mr. Kent. They are both annoying and vexing.

Tired of whatever she was saying, I placed my head on my desk and began to daydream. That's what u do best anyways.

Abigail's POV

After the next two periods, school finally closed and I left the class immediately. I don't know why I did. Maybe because I didn't want to have a conversation with Andrew for the rest of the day.

I'm in my way to go see Alexander. He's on a leave today and he's always at home taking care of his mum whenever he was at home.

I got to his place after 20 minutes and I knocked on the front door. The door opened, revealing Alex's face. His face was gloomy and there were dark circles round his eyes. I guess he just woke up.

"Let me guess, just woke up?" I asked as I stepped in.

"Yeah." He replied sleepishly

"Hopey!" I squealed as I saw Hopey run to me. Hopey is Alex's dog. He has been Alex's dog for about two and half years now. Alex found Hopey as a lost puppy in a bush. He put out fliers but no one came to claim him so he adopted Hopey as his own. They've been best friends since then. I really love Hopey. He's a loyal and a very cute dog. He's furs are white with little shades of grey.

"Missed me big guy?" I asked as I ruffled his neck fur. He licked me on the face and I giggled. I stood up from my kneeling position and looked around.

"Where's mum?" I asked

"Mum's sleeping. Come, I made waffles."

"Yippee!"

=====

"Hmm, mmm, mmm. This is amazing!"I moaned as I munched on my waffles. I've known Alex to be very good at making waffles. Like, that's his specialty.

"Like it?"

"Like it? I love it! Delicious as always. Five star!" I gave him a thumbs up and he chuckled. Alexander is quite handsome. I don't know why I just said that out of the blue but seeing him sitting there, with his ruffled hair and exposed chest is so mesmerising to watch. Jeez, snap out of it Abby, he's like a brother to you.

"You know, I won't stop wondering."

"About what?" He asked, taking a sip out of his can of soda.

"Why haven't you had a girlfriend exactly?"

His mouth hanged open in the air as I said that. His surprised expression got cleared out of his face as his lips broke into a grin.

"Why asking tho? Wanna be my girlfriend?'"

Hearing him say that made me remember Andrew. I know Alex meant that as a joke but what about Andrew? Was he serious or he was just joking just like Alex?

"Earth to Abby."

"Huh?"

"I asked if you wanna be my girlfriend."

"What? No!"

"Then why did you ask?"

"Well..." I hesitated a little, rubbing my palms together. "I mean, look at yourself. Don't you have a mirror or something? You're damn handsome and I'm sure most girls would kill to date you. Why are you holding back? Remember Ashley? That girl that always visits you at work and still is? She clearly is in love with you. She's rich, beautiful, stylish. She's everything a man would wish for."

"What if I tell you that she isn't what I wish for? What if I tell you that I wish for someone else?"

His hazel eyes were staring deep into my soul like they were anticipating of what I would say next.

"Oh my gosh?" I gasped. " Don't... don't tell me you have someone you like."

He sat back on his chair and sighed before nodding. I squealed out loud in excitement and ran round the dinning. Finally! For over 3 years that I've known Alex, he has never ever told me about a girl that he liked but now, today, right here in his house, Alex just told me with a head nod that he likes a girl. Oh my world!

"Your screaming is gonna bring down the whole house Abby. Calm down."

"Okay okay, I'm calm. Let me catch me breath. Whoo!"

I closed my eyes and breathed in and out for some seconds before I turned to face him with bright eyes.

"Now tell me, who is she?"

"I can't tell you that."

"Tch! Why?"

"Personal reasons, but I can describe her."

"Okay."

He looked up for some seconds before he brought his head down. He kept eye contact with me as he began his description.

"The girl I like. The girl I like is beautiful. She's smart, nice, and super funny. I've known her for over three years now and she has proved to be the best companion I could ask for. She makes me smile, her laugh, her voice, her existence alone makes me be at peace. Whenever I was down or sad, I always make sure I set eyes on her because, she's like the perfect antidote." He paused for a second before continuing. "She's like my mood lifting fairy."

"Whoa...

I said silently as he finished. I've never seen Alex like this before. As he described the girl, a smile never left his face. A dreamy look was in his eyes and I kept noticing the little blush on his cheeks. He's completely smitten by the chic.

"But unfortunately, I can't ask her out."

My bright demeanor was replaced with a frown and a pout.

"But why?"

"Well, we've been friends for over three years and I'm sure she only sees me as a friend or a brother because I'm three years older than her."

"Really?"

"Yeah and I can't take the risk of being rejected."

"Come on, don't think like that. What if the girl likes you and you don't know."

"Believe me Abby, I know. She doesn't like me and I don't think she'll ever will. And also, I don't want my confession to ruin our precious friendship. I can't let that happen. I don't know what would become of me if that happens."

I puffed out my cheeks and slammed my palm on the table as I stood up aggressively.

"Why exactly? What girl would see you and wouldn't fall huh? You're handsome, responsible, caring, the mist loyal person I've ever met! You're not like other heartbreakers out there. In fact, you're perfect! What else does she want?"

"Whoa, calm down tigress. You can't force someone to reciprocate your love just because you gat feelings for he or she ya know? I can't force her."

"I know." I sighed as I sat back on my seat.

"For a moment there you seemed as if you were ready to take it out with the girl. And what girl would see me and wouldn't fall for me? You mean you've fallen for me?" He asked with a smirk and I threw a spoon at him.

"That wasn't what I meant dumdum, you're my best friend idiot."

He gave a light chuckle before bowing his head. He seems really hopeless. Does this mean he wouldn't get to date that girl? I sighed and took his hand in mine. He looked up and gave me a quizzical look.

"Look, there are over 5 million girls on Earth. Don't let only one drive you crazy. There are lots of beautiful fishes in the sea, you just have to look further and go deeper. Maybe fate doesn't want you and the girl together but trust me, your soulmate is being packaged in a VIP room and will soon be delivered to you. It can just take a little while for you to cross paths with her but believe me, your perfect woman will soon be with you. Don't just go all sad all because of the girl you like okay?"

"Wow, look at you being all caring."

"Come on, I'm being serious here!"

"Fine fine." He stopped laughing and I glared at him. "But thanks, I really feel better by your words. You're annoying but you can be mood lifting sometimes."

I smiled and pinched his cheeks like he was a little boy.

"Should we get ice cream?"

"Yes!"
