Chapter 18: With enough motivation

Michael recoiled in shock. He was so surprised by her sudden outburst, he didn't know what to say. A strained silence passed between them. Lucia threw herself back from the desk and let out an uncomfortable laugh.

"Ah," she covered her mouth, "I didn't mean that. You'll forgive me, won't you? As you said, I'm still recovering"

"Right," Michael replied drily.

"I'm sorry to have bothered you with this," she said sheepishly, "I'll go now,"

And so she did. Michael remained rigidly glued to his chair. He couldn't believe what had just occurred. He had never seen her like that before. However, he reasoned the strain of her year in the void must have had a greater effect than he imagined. Still, the talk of Lome's spear, was that real?
