Administrative Director

After discussing further for about twenty minutes, both parties finally sign the contract and shake each other's hand while wishing for a successful partnership.

Within that time, Tarud expresses his interest in buying the other Fenris fang that Jack has. And he was willing to take it as a payment for the armor set Jack is wearing and a bag of his choosing.

The offer is too sweet to be rejected, so Jack gladly accepts it with a smile on his face and loads of gratitude. When finished, both of them walked back to the front of the shop.

Two hours with Jack make Tarud realize how extraordinary the young man's way of thinking is. He could see something in a unique way that most people never noticed or never thought about before.

In Tarud's eyes, his only flaw is that he was not interested to learn about blacksmithing or other craftsman skills. It pained him a lot to find someone who has the talent but can't raise him as a disciple.

But Tarud didn't give up. "Our workshop always needs more people with a fresh idea like you, Jack. So if you ever decide to join one, you can find me here. Oh! By the way, do you have a place to stay in Alexandrium?"

It is great to have a friend like Tarud. Besides, getting closer to him in line with his current plan. But deciding to join a workshop after just a day in Alexandrium sounds too rushed of a decision. Jack pondered about it for a while before answering, "No, not yet. I was just going to look for it after the interview, but I need some time to think about the offer."

"It's okay, I understand. You just came to this city yesterday, there are still many things you should see before making a decision. Wait a minute."

Tarud turned his body before opening a locked drawer. After about a minute of searching, he turned back and threw something toward Jack.

"That is a key for an apartment in Alex-01 room no.208. I never use it because I have a house in Hawthorn Street, so you can stay there as long as you want. If you are interested in our workshop activities, I can take you around anytime. In the meantime, just focus on the interview."

Declining a good intention was akin to an insult, so Jack accepted the blacksmith's goodwill and promised to visit his shop after finishing what he wanted to do.

Tarud didn't want to let Jack go too far away from him. On the other hand, Jack needed a place to stay. It's a win-win situation. Besides, the two of them will frequently meet because of the contract.

After saying his thanks, Jack headed for the administration room on the second floor.

This time he could feel fewer people were staring at him when walking through a crowd, but remembering his previous looks made Jack's cheek blushed. Fortunately, they didn't seem to remember his past appearance and think that both of them are indeed a different individual.

The administration room was about ten meters long and twenty meters wide, about four meters high from floor to ceiling. The room looked quite spacious, and many adventurers were waiting in line in front of five lovely guild staff in a blue uniform. Judging from what they are doing, this place seems to be where the adventurers claim their money.

Having no business with them, Jack approached the receptionist desk and asked, "Excuse me, where can I find Mr. Francis Delacroix? I have an appointment with him this afternoon."

The lovely girl in blue uniform smiled before answering, "If you already have an appointment, you can directly go to his office."

Her hand was pointing toward a room in the corner and added. "The one with the Administrative Director sign in it."

After expressing his gratitude, Jack hastened his steps toward the Administrative Director Office and knocked on the door a few times.

"Come in." A gentle voice came out from inside before Jack twisted the handle and opened the door.

A man in his late twenty greeted him with a friendly smile and amiable visage before pointing at a wooden chair. "Please, help yourself."

His shoulder-length honey blonde hair split evenly in the middle with soft curls from top to bottom. Neat and shiny like everything else in his room. With a single glance, Jack could tell that he is a very organized man, worthy of the title Administrative Director of Adventurer's Guild.

Jack thought that adding gold-rimmed glasses would further complement his white skin and sharp nose, make him look more erudite and honorable.

But knowing that a nobleman with high standing like Francis would interview him personally made Jack's heart work harder than usual.

Notice a glint of nervousness in Jack's face. Francis asks with a soft and kind voice, "How can I help you, my friend?"

Not knowing where to start, Jack handed Francis the piece of paper he got from the receptionist girl this morning.

His action made Francis raise his eyebrows. And after reading what's written on it, he looked at Jack and the paper several times while evaluating him inwardly.

'New looks and haircut. It seems that this man is not really crazy like Selia said.'

"It's quite rare to see a young man like you want to become an adventurer lately, so relax. I just need to ask you a few questions. All you need to do is answer it honestly. And after a few administrative procedures, you will officially become one of our members.

"Let's start, then! Please put your hand on top of this crystal ball while answering my question."

Francis pushes a transparent crystal ball with a blue gem as its center toward Jack. A soft blue light suddenly emanates from its core before tiny white dots start to appear like stars in the night sky, revolving in a clockwise direction.

Jack was caught by surprise. His pupils contracted when he realized that the crystal ball is actually a magical device. With one look, he knows that this magical device has a similar function as a lie detector on earth, so he only has two choices.

One. Answer every question briefly without adding additional details. But this option would take a lot of time, and Jack worried that he might accidentally give contradictory answers. So he will choose the second option.
