Within moments after the sky went pitch-black, the world descended into chaos. The screams of the thousands of people filled the streets with an almost deafening roar, their feet hammering the ground, stampeding the once busy street.
Alistair was in the middle of all this, confused and lost. With his gut churning, and his sight narrowed, he could barely see what was infront of him... so he moves forward only knowing one place left to go. Home.
As quick as he could he arrives at his building and he shouts "Sylvie! Sylvie please let me in!" Sylvie inside the building hurrily buzzed him in. Al quickly climbs up the stairs and knocks on her door. She opens
"Tom? What's going on? Why is the sky so dark" Al confused as well, doesn't know the answer so under his breath he whispers to Sylvie "I have no idea..." practically shuddering. The normal world ended just like that, the event was named The Blank. It had destroyed almost all of the worlds network, meaning during the darkness that took out all the light, Satellites fell from the sky in a ball of flames so bright that as it came back into orbit it resembled a falling star. The explosions could be heard from miles out.
Prisoners started roaming the streets and not long after, it became a war zone. The bodies that filled the streets made the once peaceful neighborhood a graveyard of sinners. This was not planned, No one human could do this and no criminal organization was ever daring enough to pull this off and surely the trusted government wouldn't let such a tragedy happen on purpose. But it did happen, and the world now lies in ruin because of... Just one freak accident.
A horrible 2 years go by, and the government was overthrown by rebels who sought to free the world from oppression. These people... were idiots, they had removed a critical part of a functioning society, a power that kept others in check. With the biggest threat of all out of the way it wasn't long until a new order was made, in mankind's hypocrisy we had made laws that sends us back a 80 years. The world now more divided than ever, there were new leaders, new factions and land. All around Al the world was crumbling and one person left has him clinging to some sense of hope
"Sylvie? I'm back! I raided a market and surprisingly there were still some good stuff in-" He stops... and drops his bag on the floor in a rush as he dashes toward the body on the floor... "Sylvie...?" Tom had lost people before, his parents, siblings, friends, but this... This was different, he could feel his eyes getting heavy, his nose getting as red as cherry. His heart almost pounding like a drum and in one single thing escapes his mouth. A visceral scream of desperation, he had lost the last person in his world, his last rope that tied him to reality.
A few days later after burying Sylvies body, as he is cleaning he stumbles upon a tape with his name among Sylvies box of treasures, he takes the tape and powers up the generator to play it on the TV

The TV humms to life and the videos plays a recording of Sylvie in her younger days. "Tom! Tom get back here!" "Yeah Mom! I'm coming" As Al is watching the tape it cuts to an old Sylvie sitting in her chair "Tom? Tom is that you? Come here sweetie." Al wonders if he will get to see her son coming to see his mother but instead... "I'm coming! You gonna take the picture? Just press the button" he realizes it's him.
"I remember this... It was New Years and she didn't have anyone to spend it with"
"Ah Sylvie! It's on video!"
"Ooh dear, I'm sorry"
"I don't mind, anything you want to say?"
"Well yes, Thank you for spending today with me Tom"
Al tears well up as he joins his past self in saying
"Anytime, Banana bread Lady."
Before the video ends Sylvie ends up saying a few last words
"When I'm gone you better not be lazing about-" and the video cuts there
Al sits in silence as he gathers his thoughts until he finally decides to get up and leave, he grabs his things, his gun and Sylvies Necklace and just before he closes the door he whispers "No more lazing about, Banana bread lady..."
