The Lady Who Assassinates

Jasmine sits on the railing of the balcony of the Feng's mansion and stares at the black and blue skies of Switzerland. It is dawn and there is not much stars in the sky.

Though the moon is still shining brightly in the sky, the loneliness that Jasmine feels is somewhat similar to what she felt when their mother died.

It was a heart wrenching feeling. Seeing her there, lying on the cold white bed after a tremendous fight against cancer is not a funny sight.

She and Aiden are still young at that time, only seven and two years old, their only hope is their mother while their father is away for a business trip.

She can still remember her mother's final words before taking her last breath. Jasmine sighs as she recalls every existing memory that her mother had with her.

"If only that wrench didn't kill her sister for money."

Her mother dying of cancer is like a diversion reason that her aunts told them about. It is to tell her children that their mother died of something natural because she is sick.

But later on, Jasmine finds out the whole truth after her stepmother got drunk and told her what had happened to her biological mother. She got furious and went berserk that she almost killed the woman.

Since then, their stepmother never stayed inside the mansion. She always ask her husband to bring her to his business trips but their father leaves the house whenever she is unavailable.

Jasmine smiles as she sighs and waits for the sunset to come. Today is her last day to this mansion and she is able to spend more time to herself before going to train in a different country.

She is humming a song when she hears a sudden knock behind her. She looks over and sees Grandma Feng smiling at her while her knuckles is on the door.

"Early bird?"

Jasmine smiles and shakes her head. Grandma Feng goes to her side and leans over the railing of the balcony on the second floor of the mansion.

The old woman looks far towards the horizon as she inhales the cold winter breeze coming towards them from the eastern side of Switzerland.

"Magnificent sight, isn't it?"

Jasmine looks at the older woman and smiles. She gives her a hum as a response before looking back to the horizon. The blackness of the sky is slowing disappearing as it changes in a hue of orange and light blue.

Grandma Feng smiles at the sight of the sun slowing rising over the horizon and shining upon them.

"Did you know about the legend of the lady assassin that killed the President of the Philippines?"

Jasmine looks at the older woman once again. She thinks if she ever encounters a story like that in the books that she read about assassination and its pioneers.

Grandma Feng looks at her and chuckles.

"Her story is not in any of the books that talks about assassination. For some, her legend is not true but for others who witnessed her growth, she is an undeniable talent for assassination.

Some says that her talent comes out naturally when she is in a grave danger. But for the others that had been trying to find out about her life before assassination, they said that her ways are more deadly than any assassination that they encountered."

Jasmine observes Grandma Feng's reaction while saying those statements. Her face concludes that she knows the person she is talking about.

Hearing these from the grandmother, Jasmine wants to know more and hopes that Grandma Feng will tell her more.

The grandmother looks at Jasmine, whose enthusiasm is plastered all over her face. She smiles and nods before looking back at the rising sun.

"Long before men start to manipulate women that they are a lower being than them, women are secretly assassinating those who do them wrong.

Many of these women are ravished victims. They are avenging their dignity and their pureness by killing the men who ravished them because they are drunk.

But the most known female assassin is known as the Lady Phoenix. Just like the legendary bird, Phoenix, she is born from the ashes of this dirty world and regains her flames to kill men who think women are their play thing.

Too stupid to understand and too emotional to joke around with. Men are treating woman as what they want them to be. Plain and elegant, beautiful like dolls, innocent to many things that will make men geniuses.

Lady Phoenix became their Savior after her first case was known to the public. Since then, all men who try to ravished women are being killed until the legendary assassination of the President of the Philippines is spread throughout the countries.

His assassination is not even her fault. But they blame her for it. Ever since that news, Lady Phoenix had never resurfaced. Some says that she died because of the news.

Some says that Lady Phoenix is not even true. But for me, everything is real. The mass assassination of men and the assassination to the President.

But one thing is wrong that the media forgot to give information with. And that is the name of Lady Phoenix."

Jasmine listens to Grandma Feng and her unbelievable story about Lady Phoenix.

"I might look old but these bones of mine are tough that I can still do my greatest escape move."

Jasmine widens her eyes and watches as Grandma Feng bends down to the ground and forms a small box with her body.

Jasmine feels her muscle turns sore as Grandma Feng wraps her arm around her waist before standing up with a smile.

"I can fit anywhere and with everywhere I want. A perfect escape plan for someone as flexible as me."

Jasmine only nods but she knows that the thing that she did is something she can't master even after learning the technique for over twenty-five years.

"I may still be the lady of that legend but that was in the past. I am a grandmother now who builds her own town in the middle of nowhere in Switzerland.

Whatever your past is, don't let it pull you down. Always remember that there is always rainbow after every rain. Don't lose hope and survive."
