Chapter 25 – More About Slime

Adrian and Valiant walked to the river. According to Valiant, the Green Orchid area did not have a strong creature. The strongest he had fought was the slime but even the slime could only be found near the river. The slime never came to the settlement.

Creatures that always attacked the settlement were the various rabbit beast species and sparrow beast species. The beasts would usually come out at night and rarely were they found during the day. This was similar to Adrian's observation.

Be that as it may, even if the slime never attacked the settlement, the beasts were as dangerous as the slime too. Not that they were of the same power as the slime but they were still dangerous.

"When we reach the river, the most dangerous thing we will encounter will be the slime," Valiant spoke. "Have you killed one?" he asked.

'One killed me,' thought Adrian.

"I encountered one slime on the way to this settlement but I cannot inflict any damage to it, so I ran away," Adrian answered.

"It is understandable because all of you have yet to learn Energy Control and Energy Manipulation," Valiant spoke and he continued, "I am not sure you remember but slime is immune to physical attack unless you attack its core."

Adrian knew about it but he still listened attentively. He had encountered and fought the slime once but he did not have enough data about them other than what he already knew.

"But attacking the core is a problem too because they camouflage it. To spot the core, you need to hit it once to make it appear. However, the core will disappear again and the slime will move it to another location in its body," Valiant spoke.

"If you don't know Energy Control and Manipulation, the trick to defeating the slime is first, you must spot the location of the core. Just hit wherever you want to hit until you hit the core. Once you spot it, attack it as fast as you can to destroy it," Valiant gave Adrian his tips.

"Second, if you are not fast enough and the core disappears again, never attack the previous location because the core will definitely not be there. Most of the time, the slime will move it opposite of the first location. If it was on its right, the next time it was on its left."

"How about the third time," Adrian asked.

"Below and here is the tricky thing. If you cannot defeat it even after these three times, you better run away. The creatures in this world are always learning during a fight. Since all the three locations failed, the core will be moved randomly and it will always be moved without stopping," Valiant spoke.

Adrian was shocked. The slime was used to be the weakest and beginner monster but the slime in Progress was different. They were complex and intelligent. 'No, it looks like all the creatures are intelligent because they are learning and most of the time during a fight,' thought Adrian.

"If you have many energies to spare, you can continue the battle but if it is me, I will run away," Valiant laughed.

"Is there no way to defeat it easily?" Adrian asked.

"Well, what I told you just now is for someone without Energy Control and Manipulation. For people with these two skills, it will be super easy to defeat the slime," Valiant replied.

"The easiest way to defeat the slime is using purely energy-based skills such as fireball, water ball, and whatever energy-based skill you learn. These skills are the most effective against slime," Valiant continued.

"If you don't have any energy-based skill, you can touch the slime and channel your energy to the slime. They are reactive to the energy and when you channel your energy, the core will show itself and it will take a while for it to disappear," Adrian nodded.

"The other method is the coating method," Valiant spoke.

"Coating method?" Adrian wondered.

"You coated your energy on your weapon and attacked the slime. Attacking them with a weapon or any other physical material is considered a physical attack but when you coat your weapon with energy, the weapon will be half physical and half energy. So, you will inflict half damage to the slime," Valiant spoke.

"This is the method for people without energy-based skill. If you have the right skill, no need to do this," Valiant spoke. "Oh, let me show you how the coat looks."

Valiant took out his weapon from his storage and it was a great sword. It was not a fancy greatsword but only a common iron great sword.

"Once you get your weapon, you can train for this skill. If you use it raw, it will cost a lot of energy."

'Similar to me increasing my speed when fighting the Sharp Teeth White Rabbit,' Adrian was aware of that but since Valiant was nice enough to teach him, he listened attentively.

"You should train this method until you get a skill because it will cost lower energy. Also, you need to have the appropriate special stats or you will waste your effort in creating the skill. Since you have farming tools stat, you can do this with the farming tool," Valiant explained.

Valiant raised his greatsword and immediately, a blue light appeared and coated the great sword. When the coat appeared, Adrian could feel the great sword's power increased.

"The coating is an enhancement skill. So, the power of this sword has increased too. Still, attacking a monster like a slime, only the enhancement part will damage the slime. The physical is useless. Against physical creatures, this skill will cause a lot of damage," Valiant added.

Valiant stored his great sword in his storage back and they continued towards the river. They continued talking and Adrian got a few possible future scenarios from Valiant.

According to Valiant, humans was not the only race in Progress. Similar to many fantasy games, there were elves, dwarves, and beastman. There was no conflict among the four races and everyone was living peacefully.

Moreover, at the city Valiant came from, there were many of these three races living there too and everyone living in harmony. He had many friends among these three races too and the most friends he had were among the beastman.

He had a lion beastman, peacock beastman, giraffe beastman as his friends. He had many others but the three beastmen were his closest friends.

When Valiant was talking about them, he was smiling bitterly as he did not know where they were and how they were doing. Since the three races had their specialty, he was sure that they were fine.

'The three races are here in Progress and humans have been living peacefully with them. However, why is there none of them at the settlement? Will this be a future plot in the future? Something like the war between races?' Adrian thought.

Adrian decided to not think about it. It was a game and there was no need to think too much about it. When it happens, it will happen.

"We are here," Valiant spoke and Adrian could hear the sound of water. He could also smell the river. Adrian and Valiant got out of the forest to a clear area where the river was located. However, they were not alone there.

"Slimes…"
