Grinding

It has been five years since Alfin came to this insect filled jungle and it was much harder to survive here than the mountain range, these insect monsters had many unfair advantages like excessive speed, excessive numbers and the number of flying insects was off the charts. Bow and arrow helped him a lot in taking them down, though their bodies were frail their numbers were enough to back that up.

These insect monster provided Alfin with bodily traits like his legs became more strong after eating a grasshopper monster which helped him in moving fast and jumping higher and after eating a dragonfly monster his peripheral vision became broader and he could spot small things from far away, it was like a bodily upgrade.

Alfin was very happy these days as he was getting tasty food and also getting stronger, what basically has improved was his eyesight and senses as the insects has very sharp senses. His archery has become so deadly with his improved senses that he could take down hundreds of insect monsters if he had enough arrows, without missing any shots.

Alfin was becoming a monster himself after killing so many monsters his killing intent was leaking like someone has left the tap open, and this scared and alerted the insect monsters who had very good senses. To figure out what was going wrong and scaring the monsters away took him a long time and to fix that only one thing came to his mind that was meditation. Meditation helped him in controlling his killing intent and also helped him in reducing the madness inside him due to loneliness and so much killing though it took a very long time.

Alfin only had qualitative change in his body, his internal structure of body did not change even after eating so many monsters. His skin color has changed to a darker shade even the color of his pupils changed to purple and it was the only mutation caused by the monster meat, he did not care about what color his pupils are. He was also not getting older here which was one of the main point, he should be over fifty by now but still he looked like he is in his early twenties.

Though Alfin was not getting any good weapons out of these insect monsters bodies as they were a little frail, his old weapons were still good in handling these monsters so he did not needed any new weapons right now. The deeper he goes into the jungle the insects were getting stronger but their numbers were not decreasing instead it was increasing and it was becoming more challenging to cross this jungle.

Alfin had to go a lot slower now so he increased his hunting rate even more but whenever he sees an ant he ran away, if he killed it and the other ants came to gang up on him he would be powerless even to struggle. One of his other problem was that he was not able to find any suitable material for making clothes for himself, he killed a butterfly monster and used its wings to make a robe for himself but it was too flashy and was suitable for girls. So he just kept it and didn't wear it, he used wings of other flying insects to make clothes for himself.

A single insect monster did not pose Alfin any threat but a swarm would. On one regular day he spotted a bee monster, he got very excited as if there is a bee there would surely be honey. He had not tasted anything sweet for a very long time. The bee was sucking out the essence of a fly after which the fly was dead and its body was also shriveled. He started following the bee stealthily after it was done sucking essence.

Alfin followed the bee for the whole day and waited for it to return back to its hive, all he could do was to steal some honey, he could not destroy the hive as there would be too many bees for him to handle. Other than following the bee he was also making a plan how to steal the honey, it would be too tough for him to steal honey and he was not getting any ideas how to steal it.

When Alfin saw the hive his jaw dropped because the tree on which the hive was so big that it was almost reaching the sky and the hive was also so big that it could accommodate hundred thousands of bees and each bee was almost the size of an elephant. Now it looked like it was impossible to get some honey, he would be dead for sure if he tried to get some honey.
