Eerie jungle

Alfin had a bad feeling about this jungle but he thought now he has come this far, he did not want to stop just because of a bad feeling. But still he waited outside the jungle to notice any irregularities, he noticed that all the nearby monsters were avoiding the jungle. Now he wanted to find out what was in the jungle that is making them afraid, the monsters were never afraid even when they fight a monster that was stronger than them.

He went inside the jungle out of curiosity, the jungle was also as big as the mountain range or may be even bigger, it would take much more time to cross through the jungle than he had taken to cross the mountain range. As he could loose direction inside the jungle because the trees were to close to each other and it was hard to see the sky from below and god knows what types of monsters would be inside.

He went deep inside the jungle, now the mountain range was also not visible because of the trees, the deeper he went more afraid he became. There were no monsters here and the monsters were afraid to come here and there must a good reason for it. Then he felt vibrations from the ground but the location was quite far, he thought some giant monsters were fighting each other.

Out of habit he went near the area of fight, and what he saw made him almost pee his pants. He saw a colony of ant was attacking a huge centipede which was the biggest monster he had ever seen in this world. But he was not afraid of the centipede he was afraid of the monster ants who were numbered in millions, now he knew why the monsters from the mountain range were afraid of coming in the jungle.

Even Alfin has to run away when he faced these ants who numbered in millions and even the centipede was trying to do that but it was unable to do that. Every ant had a size comparable to a cow, and now they were pinning down the centipede monster which was unable to retaliate and was killed very and soon was dragged away to the nest of ants.

He stealthily checked where the nest of ants were and made a mental note to never come back here. He started walking aimlessly in the jungle but was very alert, he does not want his condition to become like that centipede. Then suddenly he encountered a monster mantis hundred meter in front of him which was seeing him as its prey.

Then suddenly the mantis moved and disappeared from Alfin's sight and came just in front of him and attacked with its front legs which were very sharp and would have cut him in half if he would have not blocked it with his bone sword. It was the fastest monster Alfin has seen in this world till now. He was pushed back by the blow of the mantis and the mantis disappeared from his sight again and came behind him and slashed his back.

His back was filled with blood even though he was wearing monster fur which was also able to defend his body was useless. But Alfin's were already started healing, one can see the wound on his back closing with their naked eyes. Now he was pissed and was ready this time for mantis's attack and was able to dodge it at nick of time. And in a minute into this fight he was able to figure out its attacking pattern. Now it was his time to attack, he swung his sword and the front leg of the charging mantis were cut down.

Mantis was in pain and Alfin did not give it a second chance and killed it with a slash at its neck, mantis's head rolled down on the ground. He was in dilemma that he could eat it or not but first he has to find a safe place this jungle was very dangerous and these insect monsters were far more terrifying than normal monsters. After searching for hours he was able to find a water source which was a small stream, it was a good place for taking rest and he was also tired of dragging the mantis on his back.

He started a fire and was thinking how should he eat the mantis monster, insects does not have bones so he tore one of its leg and started roasting it. He was hesitant to eat it at first but then he thought if would not eat how he would survive here so, he ate it but the taste was unexpected, it was crunchier from the outside and like a jelly from inside and was very tasty he could get addicted to it. The insect monsters were tastier than the other monsters. His new motto was to kill a lot of insect monsters to eat this time not for getting more stronger.
