Mysterious Energy

Half a day later, Daron arrived outside the abandoned city based on the other side of the river. It was exactly what Bob had described. The houses and sheds of the city had not been touched by anything over 200 years, however, the ever-flowing ravages of time itself had caused many of these structures to collapse in on themselves. However, not a single tree, vine, bird, animal or even insect was present. It was almost as though there was in invisible battier keeping everything outside the city.

Daron was standing at the edge of the location where the vines from the forest and leaves from the trees stopped, as though something had used a knife to chop them, preventing them from taking even an inch forward.

The city itself did not have any walls like the city of Bard had, however, it did have a castle at its centre. The only difference was, that although the size of this city was more or less equal to the city of Bard, the castle itself took up nearly 30% of the space, which was in stark contrast to the miserly 5% taken up by the castle in Bard city.

Daron could already make out the greedy and stuck-up nature of the one who had the castle built this way, as though to show off to his citizens and treat them as lower than even his servants.

Daron hated this kind of people with a passion. He had read and written too many novels, and such people were in each and every one of them. Arrogant, often with over-inflated egos, as well as a complete disregard for their situation. Even though he hated such people, he naturally had to add such people in his novels, even though very few. The reason was simple, such people did in fact exist even in the modern society, not to mention the perfect incubation environment for such people known as the nobility system. As long as hereditary nobility existed, such people would naturally exist, and were a part of society that could not be ignored.

'Did you check it out?'

[Scan complete. Nothing out of the ordinary found.]

'Then entering should be fine. However, Bloodline Inheritance keeps telling me it is extremely dangerous.'

[The scans reveal no danger without 20 meters around you. Perhaps the danger is further within the city?]

'No. Bloodline Inheritance had become stronger and somehow is able to communicate certain emotions and thoughts with me. It is telling me that the danger exists the moment I cross this line.'

[Maybe you should ignore this city and look for another possible church to change your name?]

'Maybe… But it will take too much time, and those black knights might actually find us by then.'

Daron sighed, and decided to be cautious about this. Picking up a random stone, Daron threw it about a meter ahead, and it just went and landed on the ground just like normal. Daron's face frowned but he soon got another idea. HE turned around and picked up a leaf and three it in the direction of the non-existent wall.

As soon as it reached the location, in front of Daron and Sirious' utterly shocked faces; not that Sirious had a face, the leaf vanished as though anything living that went through the non-existent wall would turn invisible.

'Play it back' Daron told Sirious

As Daron watched the replay over and over at increasingly lower speeds and with greater magnification. Once the magnification reached a certain level, Daron finally noticed what actually was happening.

Something was blocking Sirious from properly scanning through the non-existent wall, but it could record visual and auditory ques. This allowed Daron to zoom in to the level where he could see what was going on. As soon as a part of the leaf crossed the wall, its atoms would instantly begin to break apart and split up into nothingness. This was atomization taken to the extent that is goes beyond science.

Naturally, this was a magical world and therefore Daron did not mind at all about how blatantly physics were being shattered and the laws of attraction of the particles as well the extreme energy released from this process of splitting apart were completely destroyed just like the leaf. What Daron was concerned about was the fact that anything with life would be completely and thoroughly destroyed.

At this moment, Sirious suddenly spoke out.

[After analysing the situation, I have successfully identified the cause of this phenomenon. It is the same energy that the main system uses to upgrade and continue functioning, the ethereal energy that both exists and doesn't exist. For some reason, it is present in this town, and is most likely he reasons why everyone in the city had either been killed or somehow managed to escape.]

'So this is your fault?' Daron only knew one thing that used this mysterious energy and that was the main system.

[Unlikely. There must be another cause of this phenomenon. However, this energy that is naturally occurring in this place can be used to strengthen the main system, and in the process, not only strengthen your body but also allow you to freely move within the area covered by the energy]

'Yes. Another cheat ability. Let's go!'

After cheering in his mind, Daron walked into the area covered by the mysterious energy which still was not given a name by the name enthusiast Daron.
