Chapter 19: A New Contract

Sofia's Point of View :

I'm currently at the grocery store right now with Felix. I don't know why he's always with me even though I told him that I was no longer young so that he could watch me wherever I went, but this one was really naughty so I just let him accompany me.

"After that where are you going?" He asked me. He seemed to have a walk because he had just glanced at his wristwatch earlier.

"I told you not to watch me anymore. What am I, kid? I know you're a busy man Felix, so you can leave me." I had a long line with him while I was busy looking at the expiration date of my purchases. It's hard because, maybe later I bought it expired and I didn't hear from Mom again. Mommy is picky when it comes to things like this.

"Nope, I don't want to leave you alone especially since your condition is delicate." I gasped after he told me that.

"I'm aware, and I'm being careful." I was sad to tell him.

"Even though, don't be stubborn."

"Fine!" I agreed.

By the way, I just got better yesterday at the health center in our barangay. I found out that I was two months pregnant and that my pregnancy was difficult. Felix was with me yesterday, he didn't even want me to have a check-up at the barangay health center, he wanted me to go to a hospital which his family owns.

"Where are you going later? I heard that you're going somewhere, said Tita Syl." Alas, he's really weird.

"Fine! I'm going to Alexus, I'll return his money." I answered him with a sigh.

"Seriously? You know he won't allow that." He says laughing.

"Why?" I asked.

"I know him." He said.

"Whatever. I decided already, I wanted our contract end completely by returning his money."

"Really tough!"

"Are you saying something?" I asked him rolling my eyes.

"No. I said let's go to the counter and pay for what you bought." I just nodded and followed him.

After we paid at the counter, he also brought my purchases. He also drove me home. He was like my personal assistant in our situation.

"So, come on?"

"Where?" I asked. We just got home and took care of him and left immediately.

"To Alexus,"

"Shh, Mommy can hear you." I scolded him. What mom knows is that Alexus is just out of the country so he doesn't go home anymore. She didn't even know that me and Alexus is over.

"Sorry,"

"All right, let's go."

"Where are you two going?" I stopped after hearing mom's voice.

"I forgot to buy some ingredients mom," I reasoned.

"Is that so? All right, be careful. Son, please take care of my daughter." She told to Felix.

"Mom I'm not a child anymore,"

"But you're bringing a child." They are just the same as Felix if they worry about me.

"All right, we're leaving." I said goodbye to mommy.

"Why are we here at Dylan's bar going straight?" I wondered. As far as I know, we're going to Alexus' office.

"He's here," Felix answered me casually.

"Okay." I sighed first before starting to walk into the bar. While walking I suddenly remembered the first time I got lost here. I just finished the interview with the company I applied for near here, then I was very thirsty at that time, so thinking that there might be free water here, I went in and asked for water. But sad to say, enter a bar not a restaurant means, there wasn't a free water.

I shrugged my shoulders and walked straight out. I also remember that it was the first day Alexus and I met. Since then, he has always followed me and teased me to give him a child.

As I look back on those memories I can't help but smile and at the same time feel sad. This is where it all started, and I guess this is where it ends.

"Hey, welcome back!" Clyde and Dylan greeted me. As usual, they were still smiling. Nothing changed. Think about it, that they're a great millionaires and are just hanging out at their friend's bar. Who would have thought that from the looks of it, they will have businesses to grow in various parts of the Philippines and not only that, there are also outside the country.

"Thank you." I smiled in response to them.

"If you are looking for him, he's just around."

"Just calming himself down." Dylan and Calvin says. I just nodded at the two. Felix was also quiet on the other corner while busy with his phone.

I stood up after I saw Alexus approaching.

"We'll get going," the three of them said goodbye at the same time. I feel like I'm running out of air right now. Here's what I often feel when Alexus and I are alone. The rapid throbbing of my chest. He's the only man who gives me so much nervousness every time he's around.

"I came to give it back," I quickly laid on the table in front of him the white envelope containing the money.

"I didn't touch that. Only what I spent on mommy's hospital bills was deducted from that and what we owed at home." Alexus didn't say a word. But even though I wasn't looking at him, I knew he was staring at me. I feel that.

"But don't worry. I'll pay for everything that's missing, I'm looking for a job and I make sure I don't run away from you with my debt to you."

I waited a few more minutes for him to speak but he had no intention of speaking. Where is his tongue, is it gone? Why is he quiet? Since I was no longer restless, I decided to look at him. The expression on his face was serious as he stared at me.

"What, you have nothing to say?" I asked.

"There is,"

"Go, tell me and I'll go home."

"Oh. Btw," I grabbed my shoulder bag and pulled something out of it.

"Sign the contract you made. Proof that we are concluding both contracts." I handed him my copy of the contract we agreed on six months ago.

"Give it to me." He quickly took the ballpen and paper in my hand and signed it right away. It's not obvious that he's excited to lose me forever in his life, isn't it?

"We're over. Are you happy?" He asked me after he signed it. I didn't know if I would nod or cry in front of him. It still hurts, thinking that I won't see him anymore—it's already hurting me. How come now that we are totally finished?

"I'm leaving," I took the contract with his signature and put it in the bag. I was supposed to get up but he quickly grabbed my hand causing me to stop.

"And who said you could leave?" Damn! Why he looks sexy when his face is serious? I want to slap myself to make myself conscious but I don't know, I'm going crazy with this man again.

"Yes, I ended our first contract, but I did that because we will have a new agreement." I couldn't believe looking at him. What does he mean? He placed in front of me a white folder, the same as our first contract.

"And who told you that I still agree to have a new contract with you?" I asked raising my brows.

"I do. And you can't do anything about it." Disappointed, I picked up that folder to read its contents. It's not like I'm a fool to suddenly agree without reading. I don't know if I'm going to cry or what, my brain is in turmoil now after I read the content of the new agreement he says.
