Chapter 20: Starting Over Again

Sofia's Point of View :

Contract Renewal

• Sofia Marie Hidalgo will be marrying Alexus Sean Smith before her tummy turns four months, and she can't do anything about it.

• After marriage, she'll be living with her husband, so that her husband can spend his full time to take care of his beautiful and lovely wife together with their soon to be child.

• Sofia Marie Hidalgo will be signing this contract either she like it or not.

• This contract is valid for a life time.

I was stunned after I read the contents of the agreement paper that Alexus handed me.

"You're just kidding, right?" I asked him unbelievable.

"Of course I am not."

"Liar!" I quickly picked up my shoulder bag that I laid on the table to leave this damn place.

"Sofia! I'm not kidding, that's all true." He looks serious but even so, I once trusted him but in the end he still left me.

"You already said those words to me Alexus, three months ago? Have you forgotten? You even said, you're starting to love me, and I'm so stupid for believing in you! Then in the end, you still left me. I remembered, I almost begged you back then, didn't I?"

I paused for a moment to wipe the tears now running down my cheeks. Because of crying so I feel like I'm also short of breath. I took a deep breath before speaking again.

"Do you know how I felt at those times? Probably, no. Alexus I'm in so much pain, so much pain here." I pointed to my left chest where my heart is.

"Lots of realization hits me. I realized a lot of things during those times, and one of them is to don't trust easily." I had prepared myself to completely turn my back on him. I don't want to stay here any longer because I'm already feeling bad.

"Wait," I close my eyes after he hugs me from behind. If he hadn't hurt me before, maybe I'd just let him hug me. But because he had already hurt me, I tried to remove his two arms that were wrapped around my waist.

"Please, Sofia, I'm begging you." I wanted to believe him. I wanted to trust him again, but I don't know how. I'm scared, I'm scared for my future child and me.

"Alexus I can't,"

"Why?"

"Because you love someone else, I don't want to ruin your relationship with her. Don't force yourself to be with me, if you want to marry me because I'm pregnant, I'm the one telling you not to."

Tears welled up in my eyes as I spoke those words to him. I felt him slowly pull away from me. I did not miss the opportunity, I immediately ran away from him. I could still hear him calling my name, but I was determined to turn my back on him. Fortunately, I immediately took a taxi.

It's been two hours since Alexus and I met earlier. And I spent almost two hours mumbling here in my room. I'm not crying, I'm just thinking because I know that crying will affect my baby.

"Sofia, are you still sleepy? You have a visitor," I woke up in no time after hearing what mom said. I have a visitor, who else?

"It's ok mom, I'm going down."

"She's so beautiful," he said excitedly to me.

"What?"

"Come on, she's waiting for you in the living room."

After I confirmed which visitor Mommy was talking to I suddenly lost my appetite. It's like I just want to go back upstairs and lie down. But because Mommy is here, that's why I still confronted her even though it was forced.

"I'll leave you first," mom said with a smile.

"Okay mom."

After mommy left, I immediately raised an eyebrow at her.

"If you came here to cause trouble, I'm telling you to come out now." I told her rolling my eyes.

"I came here to say sorry." I was stunned by what she said.

"Wow. Is that you?" I asked in sarcasm.

"Sofia I know our last meeting wasn't good, that's why I'm here to ask your forgiveness." She said seriously.

"My forgiveness? If you came here because Alexus told you, leave. I don't need your sorry." Before I could get even angrier, I stood up to turn my back on her.

"No, he didn't. I'm serious Sofia, I want to apologize for what I did to you. As for Alexus, I already set him free." I turned to Nicole again because of the last thing she said.

"He doesn't love me anymore, his heart is already occupied by someone else. Ours is over, we're both done. I realized that I'm too selfish if I just let him next to me even though I'm no longer the one he loves. Another thing, I'm the one who hurt him, I'm the one who cheated. I also realized that there is someone who's willing to be with me with all his heart, so I thought I'd just go back to him. He's also the one who said, that when I want come back anytime he'll welcome me." She's sobbing in front of me. The anger that I felt earlier was replaced by pity.

"I'm going back to Italy, I just happened to be sorry. I know you're not ready to forgive me, for what I did. But I hope that when we meet again, you have forgiven me. Sofia, please love Alexus, more than I love him. I hurt him so much. I know only you can heal the wound I inflicted on him."

I was left confused by what she said. I don't totally understand what does she mean.

Alexus Point of View :

"Are you okay?"

"Where is Sofia now?" Calvin and Dylan asked in return.

"Did she agree? Did you tell her everything?" Felix asked next. I just remained dumbfounded while holding on to the agreement paper I made.

"What's wrong here?" It was as if my friends were crazy who first looked at the contents of the paper I was holding.

"Why is there something like this?" Calvin asked crookedly.

"Damn!" Dylan commented.

"Tsk." Felix's only reaction.

"Why?" I wondered.

"You're asking what's wrong here aren't you? What's that bro!" Dylan patted me on the shoulder.

"I wonder why she didn't accept this!" Calvin's comment was shaken.

"Did you tell her that you love her? That you and Nicole is over?" Felix asked again.

"No."

"That's it!"

"You're so stupid!"

They started laughing and teasing me. I don't know if they're really my friends or what.

"Does that even have to be said? Isn't the content of this paper enough?" I was disappointed to asking them.

"Of course dude, she's a girl." Calvin said.

"You didn't say the three magic words, you didn't say anything else?" Felix and Dylan asked next.

"What magic words? —Ouch! What's that for?" I angrily asked them. They beat me at the same time.

"For you to come to your senses, you don't look like a man!"

"Go to her and tell her everything,"

"Hurry up before it's too late," Felix said seriously as I stopped.

"What do you mean?" I asked confused.

"They're leaving for Australia, Alexus. Before you'll regret everything, if I were you, I'll go to their house right now."

Because of what Felix said so I quickly got out of Dylan's bar and went to the parking lot to pick up my car. No, she can't leave. She can't leave me. I can't handle it.
